Ugly’s

Would be 4.75 stars if they had it. the .75 is for the fact that it… opens at 6 AM. The morning crowd is a bit different than the evening crowd, but that is what makes it fun. Great place to read the Sacto Bee and have a morning shot of JD and they have PBR on draft… what more can a true man ask for? Prices are good, drinks are mixed appropriately, or so the wife tells me (I normally don’t want to ruin my booze with a mixer). This is not a dress and heels place, it is a jeans, wife beater, and boots type of place with plenty space to park the bike.

Nice place, small and diveish, but it works. Great bands and cheap drinks make it worth it. While I have a few other faves in the area, they’re pretty good and the second closes to my house so I can walk. No DUIs for me :)

Ugly’s is a place only a mother can love. A dive bar in the truest sense: loud metal bands, inside its way hot, women in too much make-​up, cheap drinks, and pool tables.
The clientele is high brow, like me: Long gray beards on bikes, chicks in leather, and general punk kids in way too much black.
Yes, a dive bar indeed!
My cousin and I were in here knocking back a few dozen and playing pool (free on the back table, the front table is used for additional seating.
The bands that were playing were loud and fast, always a nice touch. Eric the bartender was a fun guy, swapping stories, pouring drinks, and they had a bottle of Crystal Skull vodka. Yum!
Décor and other niceties are not here. Don’t even ask. It’s flat out rough and your prissy clothes would get ruined here. Stay out so the rest of us riff raff can have a suitable place to go with other real people. Anyplace with a sticker on the bar that says «Some call them assholes, we call them customers» is OK in my book.
