Love this tiny little spot for a great lunch, every meat on the menu is fantastic(of course, the carniceria is attached). Prices are good, small salsa bar is good. They also sell great fresh baked breads & pasteries, and you have a tiny convenience store to add some ambience. Location is not everyone’s cup of tea, but food is great.

I just came from this restaurant with three dinner carry out orders. I threw my cheese enchiladas away because they were too spicy — hot. My sister threw her chicken burrito away because we couldn’t identify the chicken. The third meal was steak frittas, that my nephew ate, but said he had better at other places. I really was looking forward to eating at this restaurant because of the high ratings it received on Unilocal.Sorry but I am spoiling the average —

We decided that this was today’s destination for a tasty snack. And as usual, we were not disappointed. The smallish dining area was about half full of happy patrons when we arrived. During our meal more folks came in and by the time we ate and left, just about all the tables were occupied. Today our order consisted of carnitas tacos for the Mrs and a barbacoa torta for me. Before sitting down at a clean table we grabbed some self-serve chips and salsa. About five minutes after seating ourselves, the food made it’s way to our table via the efforts of a friendly server. My torta was served hot and stuffed with shredded beef(barbacoa), lettuce, onion, pickled peppers, and Mexican cheese all piled on a toasted roll/bun. My first bite of this magical Latin sandwich and I was in heaven. Oh my goodness the beef was seasoned perfectly. And so flavorful and tender. And the rest of the ingredients worked so well with the meat: the spicy peppers, tangy cheese, creamy avocado, and cool, crunchy lettuce all combined for sandwich excellence. Mrs. stated she was super impressed with the flavors of her carnitas tacos. Small tortillas, lots of tender pork, onion, cilantro, and fresh salsa. Again, excellent food, prepared properly using a combination of delicious ingredients. After multiple visits we have found that the food served at this taqueria is always fresh, flavorful, and the quality is very consistent. This is one of our favorite eateries in the area.

Wow! My first visit was great. The carnitas burrito was meaty and delicious. Good and quick service accompanied the food along with some chips and some nice spicy salsa. On the way out I noticed some pastries that looked equally delicious. I’ll be back to try those along with another meal. I’ll be seeing you all again real soon to explore your other options.

Growing up on the south side. This place brings me home from the dulce to the marinade steak. I could of gone anywhere for my birthday but there’s no place like home. Mucho gracias for the great food, beer and #1 customer service you guys rock.

First timer. After reading all the positive reviews on Unilocal,I will excited to come to this«hidden gem». It was pleasantly clean and organized. I ordered the Chicken enchiladas, Super Burrito, and a carnitas taco. The enchiladas was somewhat plain: minimal sauce with the Chicken and somewhat simple. The Super Burrito was very good. Pescado(fish) with guacamole, sauce, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, etc. The taco was okay. Much like the nearby LA Fiesta. This was my first time here and I will be back during the week. P. S. The fresh bakery was too much to pass up. The cookies were pretty good and reasonably priced.(It’s the only«panaderia» in this area.)

I usually go here to buy tortas. It’s a nice authentic store where you can buy your own ingredients to cook your own dishes or buy them there at the restaurant.

Restaurant on one side, store/meat counter on the other side. Burritos are inexpensive, LARGE, and delicious ! I know lots of people always get carne asada, but for me, the adobada is THEANSWER. Awesomely spiced marinated pork OMG !! The salsa bar has a great variety of mild to hot salsas(I love the green ! It’s a good med/hot, and tasty !), and even has pickled veggies and fresh cut lime wedges . Great food + fair prices + large portions = Fantastic Value They even have a couple of really cute girls who work the cash register area. * sigh * I have tried every place within 10 miles of my house, and this is by FAR the best. Give them a try. You won’t be sorry, and you WILL come back again and again.

I came out to Unilocal today to leave my first review for a tire repair, but figured since I’m out here I’d drop a note on some of our other favorite places around town. We had been in this shopping center many times.. .back in the day when there was a Comic book store and eating at La Placita Dos. Never realized there was a dining area inside this Mexican market and Meat Shop… which is what the signs on the outside tend to advertise. We’ve been here about four times now, twice with just my wife and I and twice with our four kids. The food is as affordable as I’ll ever find for Mexican that isn’t Taco Bell or Dell Taco. Also the food feels authentic, as in they use bacon lard in their homemade beans. I haven’t asked if this is true, but it takes like it. The super burritos are totally worth it! My wife really likes their Carnitas Plate, but ever time they miss something. Whether it be giving us tortillas without asking or including the listed guacamole. Easily fixed when asked, but we are 0 – 2 for getting a complete meal based on what they say comes with the meal. OVERALL: We really like going here for the taste and the prices.

Pretty good food. Lil irritated we «checked in» to get our free Jarrito with super burrito as advertised and were denied by the cashier. told that deal«was from last year». Alrighty then… might wanna remove the offer then ;)

Nothing fancy about this place, however the food is authentic, flavorful and fresh. I had the adobada burrito which was tasty. It’s a family run place so it’s definitely authentic. I thought la fiesta was the best burrito in town, but I’m not so sure anymore.

Food is great! Service is great! Come in here on a regular basis. I get marinated meat, ceviche, order food, sometimes to go, sometimes I stay and eat. What ever you feel like, as long as it’s Mexican. This is the place to go. It can get busy, but it’s worth the wait. Enjoy

I felt like eating tacos so I stopped by here instead of going to my fav. taco truck. I got some lengua(cow tounge) tacos and Carne asada(steak) tacos. Needless to say they where pretty darn good. I wished they would have added grilled onions on the side like some taco places do but I’m not picky ;) cuz my tacos where delicious. They also have pretty good tortas here if you are a torta kind of guy ike me. So if your looking for a delicious taco place in citrus heights that won’t dissapoint you, this is the place for you. Oh don’t forget to take some Coronas home to go with your tacos like I did: /

I am the type of guy who wants to eat at ethnic restaurants and be the only white guy in the place. If you want real Mexican food this is your place to go.

I came here looking for a molcajete as a birthday gift for a friend. I figured if any place in the area sold them, this would be it… And I was right. The housewares«department» consisted of about 3 shelves, maybe 3 feet wide. And there, on the bottom shelf, were abiut molcajetes! All one type but all slightly different since they aren’t machine-made. I couldn’t tell if it was supposed the have a bull(toro) head or a pig. I picked one that looked more like a pig. Just 20 bucks and my molcajete search ended with just one stop. Be warned, they are pretty heavy, at least 5 pounds probably more.

WOW. I came in for a burrito not really expecting much. After walking in, I immediately felt like I walked south of the border. The restaurant felt authentic. I ordered the al pastor regular burrito and HOLYBURRITOGOD, this is the best burrito I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve found he burrito Mecca and it is at Valencia’s. It was so good I went back twenty minutes ago and got another one for later! #imafatkid The horchata is on point too.

Freshly made with fresh ingredients. Our families first experience, quaint and comfortable restaurant setting, very friendly workers. We had a variety of tacos and burritos, all excellent. We had desert from the bakery afterwards which was also very good and interesting. We will certainly return.
