Their credit card machine was down today, so, they were at a disadvantage. The drinks are still great and those girls were hustling to crank drinks out and get all of the credit cards manually processed. I’m a fan of their almond milk latte. Even plain, it is very smooth and doesn’t taste bitter like many coffee places’ coffee does(I’m looking at you, DB, and your dirt you call coffee.). Right now, I like to bring it home and dump some LF eggnog in it. All in all, and great place for a good cup of java. I’ve already recommended this place to friends. They’re conscientious of allergens and are very careful to avoid cross contamination. I’ll definitely be back. :)

This place is awesome. It used to be a KFC before this very recent incarnation. I’ve come here quite a bit as it’s within walking distance of my work. The girls that work here are always extremely friendly and they make the drinks great. It’s fairly priced given the competition in this market. They are also very fast. Overall i don’t have a complaint and will continue to get my fix here daily!

When it first opened it was great. Very friendly and fast. Then it started to go down and it hasnt even been open a year. There is no dedicated manager there and it shows. Everytime I go I get charged a different price. When I bring this up I get attitude from the girls. They explain it away that I must have gotten a special drink or that the last person didn’t charge me for extra syrup. But I get the same drink everytime. I have only ever gotten 3 different drinks there and I usually keep ordering the same one everyday. When I try to explain this I am met with a rude attitude. Black rock is only a mile away, i think I’ll stick with them from now on.

A flyer came in the mail very prominently proclaiming«howdy, neighbor.» It announced the opening of a new coffee place, the Human Bean, in the more industrial part of Clackamas, along the 212 – 224 corridor. The coupon featured a free medium-sized coffee drink, and that included the fancy ones. Needless to say, I did take the opportunity to check it out while going to the post office on a gloomy day calling for a hot drink. The Human Bean gets 4 stars. They get one star for their wide assortment of drinks and for their prices being in line as they ascend from simple to more complex. They get another star for their very good service, which includes the patience to explain to me what their more complicated drinks entail since I tend to drink tea, the house coffee, or decaf. They get another star for their drinks being very good. I was really satisfied with the espresso based drink they made for me. And, lastly, they get another star for providing a modern, woodsy looking retail pad that isn’t a gas station or an ominous looking business concern along this industrial segment of highway. I’m not really docking them a star for anything per se. Note that the Human Bean on 212 – 224, less than a mile east of I-205, does not have an indoor seating area. I sort of suspected that upon seeing the map shown on the flyer. You can either drive through, walk up to the window after parking your car, or, you can sit at the few tables outside near the sidewalk and fronting the highway. I know that, at some coffeehouses, the people watching can be interesting and/or perplexing. Without that, a person who is a truck watcher can sit at the outside tables and see different types of big rigs drive by … if that’s their thing. If you are traveling along busy Highway 212 – 224, between I-205 and where the industrial area thins out(and there is a McDonald’s), and caffeine pangs strike, check out the Human Bean for better coffee options than anywhere along that strip of highway.

I live 2 blocks from this place and I was anxiously waiting for this place to open. I am a Black Rock regular and was doubtful that this place would win me over. We went opening day and to our suprise, our whole order was free! They have a huge menu and the staff was very helpful with what to order. Needless to say, I haven’t been to Black Rock since. They have a drive thru or a walk up window to order from.
