I’ve been treated to several trips with Bob over the last few years. We haven’t always been successful, but it’s always been fun. Bob has been guiding for about 40 years and he knows his business. He’s much more concerned about getting people to enjoy fishing rather than how much money he’s making per trip. As a matter of fact, he frequently stays out on the water long after other guides have turned in. He just likes fishing. He’s also a steward for the environment. He’s partnered with PGE to help that company figure out how to decrease salmon smolt mortality on the Clackamas. And he’s always taking photos of the beautiful surroundings where he fishes, whether it’s Tillamook Bay, the Clackamas river, or the Deschutes. Oh yeah, my profile pic is me on the Deschutes reeling in a steelhead last year on one of Bob’s trips.
