We stop here regularly on our way up north. It is a very clean, attractive café with good homemade food at reasonable prices. Outdoor deck seating is avaialbe. Parking is ample and convenient. There is a cute gift shop here as well.

Well this was a good find. We both had the razi chicken sandwich. The whole grain bread was awesome, the chicken had flavor and it was a really tasty. Service was friendly.

We stopped here for lunch on a whim, and we were not disappointed. The food was awesome, and the service was quick. The menu had unique, tasty options. There is also a cute store attached. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again.

I found the perfect spot for a meal when traveling to Manistee. Easy to find and easy to return to the freeway. Thoroughly enjoyed lunch at the Mulberry Café. Make sure you save room for the Buttermilk pie. Also enjoyed the Herrick House shop.

Super cute little place in downtown. My dad had a BLT and it was(according to him) delicious. I had a turkey sandwich on a croissant and it was very lackluster. The croissant itself was not homemade — it was like getting my sandwich on Wonder bread. I really pick a croissant b/c I love the taste of butter, and usually that’s what you get. But not in this case — so be sure to avoid the croissant. The soup was tasty, thankfully. The other thing that’s nice about this place is the reasonable prices(sandwich plus cup of soup was around $ 6.50). Additionally, the service was friendly. Overall decent experience, but I’d definitely order differently if I ever stopped in again!

Relaxing atmosphere, good service and great food… Signature sandwiches are delicious(I usually order the«pine street») and their homemade pies are extremely tasty as well(I particularly like the pineapple pie)… I highly recommend this place!

Very quaint café in an older house. Very friendly people; lots of atmosphere, antiques, plantings around the house, and next to the library.

Rode our bikes here from the Loomis trailhead and it was a pleasant experience. The atmosphere was charming and welcoming. We enjoyed hot coffee with plenty of refills. The quiche Lorraine was flavorful as was the breakfast panini. Portions were on the smaller size but would definitely visit again.

Delicious! I had the vegetarian panini which was filling and tasty. My father enjoyed the Reuben. The potato chips are great, and the staff was extremely friendly. Our food was brought out very quickly, but despite this was fantastic quality. We had the triple berry and peach pie afterward, both of which were to die for. All around fantastic.

Stopped in here yesterday on our way home from the Boyne area. We were persuaded to try it out due to all of the positive Unilocal reviews and to kill a little time before our afternoon tee time. The place is nice and aesthetically pleasing. We were seated promptly and our waitress took our drink order. She wasn’t necessarily unfriendly, but she definitely wasn’t overly friendly either. Maybe it was our«out-of-towner» odor that we couldn’t hide. We each ordered soup and split one of the paninis — the Pine one — salami, ham, peppers. The French Onion soup was delicious. The chicken noodle lacked salt. Once I added a decent amount of salt, it was pretty good. Once we finished our soup, our sandwich was brought out on two plates(as we were splitting). At the time our sandwich was served, my iced tea was empty. I did not receive a refill. The waitress did not return to our table once during the meal, so I went through the entire sodium-ridden panini and potato chips with nothing to drink. She only came back to deliver the bill. The place isn’t that big to where the server should have avoided us for the entire meal. A real disappointment service-wise. The sandwich was okay, but did not stay on the press long enough as it was somewhat cold in the middle… which we did not have the opportunity to say anything about since our server never came back to the table. We were charged $ 1.00 for a split plate fee — which I did not recall seeing on the menu and it definitely was not explained to us. I hate it when places do that. Really… we can share a plate. I’d rather use a napkin than spend an extra dollar for the apparently off-putting task of throwing my sandwich on two plates instead of one. I went in with high hopes, but came out disappointed. With the right server, this place has potential. Not sure if I’ll be back to give it that chance though.

There are lots of good reviews here and they are all well deserved. We came with a party of three and ordered three different meals, all of which were great. The quiche is very tasty and the homemade dumplings in the chicken noodle soup were really good. This may become a regular stop for us when we travel north.

This is a cute little restaurant. It’s a converted house(Actually, not all that much conversion; the part of the store that’s upstairs is obviously in former bedrooms & closet, and the main part downstairs was probably the sitting room.) They refurbished and added onto the kitchen/dining room, being loyal to the style of the house. The manager was very friendly, and was working in both the store and restaurant areas. While I was there, a trio of amateur singers were entertaining guests outside. They were fairly loud, so I chose to sit in one of the charming dining rooms. I could still hear them loud & clear. I ordered the Razzmatazz Chicken sandwich. It’s described as «Grilled chicken breast layered with raspberry cream cheese, pecans & Swiss cheese on whole grain bread». Well, it was the ubiquitous, anemic-looking boneless, skinless chicken breast with the apparently required 3 grill marks. I don’t recall there being either pecans or Swiss cheese although there may have been. The sandwich seemed quite thin and on the small side. The cream cheese that was slathered on was delicious, though. It came with a small handful of chips and a pickle. It wasn’t bad, but it sounded a lot more impressive than it was. And a piece of romaine or leaf lettuce would’ve been a nice touch. My waitperson was ok, but she didn’t seem to be terribly happy to be there, and everything she said was definitely by rote — more what I would expect in a chain restaurant than a little café like this one. In fact, it was another waitperson who came by to refill my iced tea. Still, it was nice, the atmosphere was charming and I would go back.(As I walked in, I heard another customer say his was the best panini he’d ever had. Maybe I’d try one of those.)

On a nice, sunny Michigan afternoon this past summer, I had the pleasure to dine out on the patio, sans umbrella. I ordered the Captain B’s Beef panini. Pink lemonade served as a belly-washer(where do they get pink lemons?). Anyways, they were down to 3 selections of pie, so I settled on Cherry Vanilla pie for dessert. I recommend this establishment for a meal, and inside is a nice little gift shop.

I liked the Mulberry Café and Herrick House — The Café had a tempting menu… I wanted to try so many different things, and decided on the Razzmatazz — which was DELISH! Raspberry cream cheese, with swiss cheese, on a grilled chicken sandwich — was creamy and heavenly! The prices aren’t bad here either… very reasonable. Our service was okay… our waitress didn’t seem the brightest… I was out of Iced tea, and still eating my sandwich, so don’t ask if I’d like another, just bring it… geez… Also, I’ve read in other reviews that sitting outside is a must… and on this beautiful day, it sure was nice… but it isn’t like you’re in some magical botanical garden… you are literally right off the parking lot… and a main road… so it isn’t a must, actually the inside is super cute… so go for that too… The Herrick House gift shop was okay, just a bunch of over-prices chatczki’s — not anything truly unique… Be warned that I didn’t actually walk through the entire gift shop, which consisted of several floors throughout this old home… I got enough of the idea in the first two rooms I checked out. So with that being said… If you are in the area, I think this place is a definite check out. I would love to have tried one of their quiches or the salmon club(or BLT. can’t remember) — I did try the pie… Apple pecan… YOWZA! YUM!

This place is fantastic!!! I stopped on my way up to Boyne Mtn. It is a café and very nice sized gift shop. While there is a lot of seating inside, I recommend going when the weather is nice and sitting outside. Their prices are very reasonable. The menu offered sandwiches, salads, soups, and quiche. I had the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. I would say it is one of the best chicken salads I ever had. It wasn’t bombarded with lot of fruit. Just chicken, spices, and celery. There was an ample amount of chicken salad on my sandwich. The sandwiches come with kettle chips and a pickle spear. Given I heard the pie was outstanding, and since I was on vacation, I decided to splurge… They had about 6 different flavors to select from. I had a slice of the buttermilk pie. I had never had it before and when the waitress told me that it was like custard, but not as gooey, I was sold. If all the other pies are like the buttermilk pie, they are all good! This place is definitely worth the stop to have some good food and browse the fantastic shop!
