I was surprised that the menu is so pricey being that it’s a college town. It’s a very nice college town and I wanted to see what this place is about. I didn’t know how the seating worked until the cashier told me to grab my soda from the cooler. When I looked up, I saw the nice rustic outdoor seating and I loved that! I thought the food would be amazing. I tried the Yard Bird taco and a can of Coke. $ 5. It was decent, it satisfied my hunger and my headache went away,. Being that it is Claremont and I appreciate the care put into the Village and that part of the city, I give it 4 stars. This place is unique. Hopefully the cashier girl will learn that a smile goes a long way and can create a sweet positive ambiance.

Love this place. You can get it to-go or eat there. Has a very nice outdoor environment. Not your traditional tacos but definitely worth a try.

That ceviche though! Always freshly fried tortilla chips, and in season seafood. Served to you in a big portion with more than enough left over to feed your belly twice. Well worth $ 10. I however, was not a fan of the street corn(too salty), or the tacos. I’m not in favor of wet meats in my taco, but they are good… just not for my taste buds. Did I mention the ceviche?! The atmosphere is super chill, and the outdoor seating makes for great Summer date nights.

Great taco-fusion joint. Ingredients are fresh and well-prepared – can’t take a taco seriously, authentic or fusion, unless the tortillas are homemade, and these most definitely are. I had the K-Town and Beef Chimichurri, both a knockout. Prices seem high for tacos, but the size and quality more than make up for it, and two tacos are easily a filling meal, particularly for lunch. Will definitely be back to try the tamales, but I’m far pickier when it comes to those! I do hesitate to trust a torta that’s not in bolillo bread, but my experience was so great that I’ll keep an open mind. Outdoor seating in a small alley patio gives the place a comfortable and secluded vibe. Plus they’ve got Bohemia, my favorite Mexican beer!

I hesitated trying this place because I had heard mixed reviews, but I am glad I finally did. The tacos are very well-made. They’re not typical street tacos, so do not come here expecting that. They’re the Claremont equivalent of tacos; if you’re familiar with Claremont, you know what I mean. Anyway, I had the K-Town and the Yard Bird tacos. They were actually good, solid tacos! I enjoyed the flavors, and they were a good size.

This place is all about the cute little house and ambiance that I give 5 stars but… the overpriced, average tacos? So many better places to go.

Food was great I would come again if the lines were smaller. Waited an hour to get my food which was the only bad thing about this place but still deserved the 5 star rating

Hole in the wall spot — outstanding tacos, + two will fill you up. This is officially my go-to spot for tacos in the area! Gringo is the best & the pineapple taco!

Why this place has 3 ½ stars is beyond me. Petiscos is adorable! Their outdoor seating area is so cute. The customer service is super friendly. The food is delicious. I’m obsessed with the elote and fish taco. The chips and salsa are the best I’ve ever had. This is my favorite lunch time spot. The playlist is really good, too.

This weekend, on a lovely sunny Saturday I went to try Petiscos for the first time. I was going to bring Chloe and Dolce with me since this restaurant is dog friendly but it was a little too hot out, and actually as my husband pointed out, it was a good thing because Chloe was freshly groomed, and the dining benches have dirt and dried leaves underfoot, something to keep in mind if you have a long haired dog, it’s not all paved. Okay back to the food, we tried the salsa and chips, one street corn and 4 tacos, plus 2 small bottles of beer, the total bill was 40 dollars which is a little expensive for 4 tacos without rice and beans, but this is Claremont and I’m sure the rent is expensive. I knew the pricing going in, so I wasn’t bothered by it, but to provide full disclosure, I thought I would let you know. Also a 12 oz beer will cost you between 5 and 7 dollars, leave it to the husband to pick the priciest beer. Oh well. Anyway the favorite tacos were the k town and the beef chimichurri, while the gringo was forgettable, the pork taco was my husbands pick for the best, that one has pineapple and onions which was a flavorful contrast. The salsa for the chips was good, but not anything you couldn’t find at most Mexican restaurant. Where this place excels is ambiance, it’s really cute, well shaded, and has really clean restrooms, a good sign. I would definitely dine here again.

My boyfriend and I just came to this hidden gem on Saturday and we loved it! They have the best tacos, I’m almost positive they make their own tortillas because they were soft and perfect. You do eat outside and it is a lovely romantic yet fun setting. Will come again soon !

Yummm!!! This is such a quaint little Mexican restaurant hidden in the heart of old town Claremont! The menu is simple and the foot is equally delicious! You order at a little stand and head over the picnic style seating area to wait for your food to be served. The tamales were yummy. A lot different than your traditional tamales! These babies are deep fried tamales! You get two and they are pretty hearty. Since they were deep fried, I was not able to distinguish how fresh they were. But when it’s deep fried, it’s always good in my book :) The fish tacos were good. Nice big chunks of white fish! The only disappointing thing about the tacos was the sauce — it tasted like ranch dressing. It didn’t taste very authentic but still good. I love the outdoor seating! Great vibe!

Best tacos around. Outside seating gives a fun vibe. The K-Town tacos are the best! The fire pits are the place to be at night!

Petiscos is the epitome of what undiscovered food in small towns like Claremont should strive to be. On the outside, the appearance of a small shack doesn’t give away much, but as you step back into the patio and sit on family style benches with warm heaters and a campfire, the entire atmosphere changes. The service was friendly, the place was clean, and I’ve never felt more at home at an outdoor setting like that. It felt like a family gathering in my back yard. We ordered the K Tacos, the Pork Tacos, and the Ceviche. The ceviche was an amazing fresh mix of lime and calamari with fresh avocado on top. Probably the best ceviche I’ve ever had, served with fresh chips that tasted just as great on their own. The K Tacos had a good amount of spice, but definitely not overpowering. The Pork Tacos had some of the best pulled meat I have had in a while. Summary of 5 Stars: Service — Friendly, Fast Food — Tasty, Unique, FRESH(ingredients and flavor) Atmosphere — Nostalgic, Cozy Great for the whole family, portions are well sized.

First off– cashier took cash and change then proceeded to fill a container of chips with her hands. She didn’t wash them prior to this. Ordered Pork Torta– menu says it comes with Queso Fresco– nothing, nada, zip. Had 4 – 5 pieces of onions. Also asked for salsa and looked like she gave me a container that someone left. Check picture.

Great little outdoor spot… Has a really good vibe, could see myself spending an afternoon there grubbing on some good eats in a relaxed space. Had the K-Town and Pork tacos… Both excellent! Not your ordinary street tacos, really creative flavors, and they were big! Could have survived on just one after starting with the chips and green salsa! Gal at the window was helpful with explaining and making suggestions, followed up with serving my meal up at my table and following up to see that I was doing ok… Hats off to staff! Just ran in for a quick bite at lunch, solo… Looking forward to returning with my wife and a few friends to chill out, and grub up!!!

What a cute little hole in the wall place. The nachos are salty and good ! The K-Taco and Pork tacos are small but delightful to eat for snacks. Please don’t expect big portions as they are all finger foods. I also like their backyard seating !

5 stars for their tacos, the comfort of an outdoor area(no indoor) plus they are pet friendly and has lots of shade from the trees. For the record, I never ate all the tacos. My wife and I shared it. Petiscos is simply the place where you order at the window, get a bench to sit and eat, then you enjoy the delicious food. The city of Claremont never ceases to amaze me with their hidden gems. Petiscos can easily be missed when you are driving to get there. Parking is located on the street for 2 hour limit and 3 hour parking next to it. Try Petiscos and you will not be disappointed. But if you are the type that cannot do outdoor seating and dining then just take the food to-go. The tacos may seem pricey to some, however, the taste and quality makes up for it. By the way, Petiscos is a small blue house on the street corner.

I love this place. Who cares if it’s slightly overpriced and not that authentic. If you take it for what it is, this place is really great. You order the food in this little cottage stand that is barely visible off of 1st. It takes you to an outdoor dining area where several picnic tables are laid out. Lights are strung across the trees and when the sun sets, you get a nice glow from the tree lights. It’s nice. And cute. I have sampled the beef torta which has slow braised beef cheek, avocado, shaved red onion with queso fresco on top of a toasted ciabatta roll which is slightly small, but delightfully tasty. I also like getting the red snapper taco sometimes when I feel like ballin and spending $ 4.75 on a taco. The street corn is pretty good too. I mostly come to grab a beer, and just really enjoy the quaintness of the space. The flavors of the food are non-offensive and with that, sometimes slightly bland. The flavors are mute, but I get it especially considering the location of the restaurant. Take Petiscos for what it is. It’s fun. Clean. And a nice place to grab a beer.
