My fiancée and I won tickets to see Winter’s Tale and had a great summer date night with First Folio! The performance was well done, great costumes, simple set. Winter’s Tale is a challenging piece for actors and the troupe did a nice job. They use body microphones so despite the outdoor setting, it is easy to hear them. The staff is very nice and the crowd was polite and quiet during the show. A few tips: the actual theater address is Mayslake Peabody Estate Forest Preserve, 1717 W 31st St, Oak Brook, IL60523.(Clarendon Hills is the mailing address.) If coming from the city, it’s about a 25 minute drive on a Sunday evening. We chose Sunday to avoid traffic the rest of the week. The estate is really serene so you could also come and go for a walk. For a nice picnic, consider coming early and bringing a small folding table. Chairs are available for cheap rental or bring some. Most people sit on chairs, I would strongly recommend this. Would also recommend a citronella candle or light bug spray, we forgot ours and got a couple of bites. The show lasted two hours and had a short intermission. There are soft drinks and small packaged snacks for sale, but you’re better off bringing your own food(and wine). It’s good for«kids» as in older grade school and up(Winter’s Tale is about adultery so consider the content).
