Holiday Inn Clark – Newark Area

The check in staff was efficient, but we were there for a group event and they failed to give half of us the gift bag from host. One of the group called down to ask and they brought only to her. When the rest ask about it, they said there were none left — although host insists she made extra to ensure had enough for everyone.
The bar was as interesting as any hotel bar in the late hours. Bartender was loudly sharing her surprise the dominos offered a great special and was still delivery — oh my! The word spread quickly to only order beer because the mixed drinks were not drinkable.
The room was okay, basic room with standard amenities.

Totally incompetent front desk staff, the front desk manager with short blond hair was very discriminatory to my wife and I. We proceeded to check it and there was a misunderstanding with the room rate. I was given a receipt that was not mine and they debated it that they have no control over the pricing and continue to brush us off. I explained over and over this is not mine! The rate and information is wrong. Front desk manager woman said «these people always have mental problems» not sure if it was because we are lesbians or because we were hispanic. It was a shouting match with the manager because she wasn’t professional and they threatened to call the cops to remove us… Never again. Lgbtq/​hispanics are not welcome.

My sister booked me and the family in this hotel for Christmas Eve and the day after. This was done in order for us to stay about 6 minutes from her home. I usually stay in Marriott signature hotels as an Elite member. This Holiday Inn appears to be new. The front desk staff greets us nicely. The Hall and the room did not have a pleasant smell. The next morning, before check out, my sister brought me and the kids Starbucks latte and sandwiches. We sat at a dinning table in the dinner’s area. A Spanish lady came to us, asking whether we Spanish or not. We answered no. She then asked if we purchased the Starbucks food and drinks from the hotel. I replied, no. She continued that we could no longer remain at the table since we did not purchased the food and drinks from the hotel. We then checked out and finished the sandwiches in the car. Later that evening, my wife realizes that she forgot her Michael Kors sandal in the room. I called the hotel. I was advised by front desk staff that housekeeping had not yet brought any found item from the room and that I should call back in the morning. I called back in the morning and was advised the same. My wife is now pissed off about staying at this Holiday Inn. I remember staying at a Tampa, FL Residence Inn, my wife left a skirt, the staff mailed it to us with no issue. No more Holiday Inn for me.

I stayed here with my mom as sort of a ‘staycation’ getaway, and we were looking forward to just ordering a movie, eating some popcorn, and drinking some wine. However, there was just basic cable. So we had to watch a silly movie with commercials. Very disappointed. Also, do not let the ‘no delivery fee’ trick you with ordering snacks from downstairs– they charged us a $ 5 ‘service’ fee! Unbelievable! Overall though, it was very clean and the staff was friendly.

Came here for a one night stay for a business trip and finding a parking spot at 9:00 pm was a breeze. Was greeted at the front desk with a friendly smile and a hello. After seeing my license and credit car of course I got my room key and went on my way to the bed that awaited me.
Upon entering the room, it was clean, but too hot as I figured they are trying to save energy costs and turned off the AC unit, which I quickly turned on. The room was as one would expect and nothing out of the ordinary or something to wow at. The bathroom was clean, but a little more outdated in its design that I would have expected, but it was clean and did what it was there to do. My only complaint is that in the bathrooms there isn’t a sink with counter space where one can put their toothbrush and other toiletries. You can put it on the tiny ledge that is right under the sink, but be careful because one wrong move or swoop and your clean toothbrush will meet the floor, or even worse the toilet itself.
As always, the bill was there under my door when I woke up and check out was a simple handing off of the room keys.
If the price is right I would stay at this hotel again, maybe not for a romantic night, but for a one night stay to get me from point A to point B.
Sign up for the IHG card so that way you can at least earn points for the stay and use your AAA card for more savings.

I got a groupon for holiday Inn dinner option. I wish I didn’t !!
First of all, it was under false advertisement that there is lobster on a menu but there wasnt any at all, at the most they have shrimp which is not very tasty!
I am under impression that they don’t know how to cook! The chicken that they served wasn’t cooked properly! If they would of checked before serving, it was easy notice that the chicken wasnt cooked in a middle! The food was bland!
Second, I took my grandparents with me and they couldn’t eat anything that was served except for chips!
Third when I came home, I felt sick in a stomach and throwing up! !
Yes the staff was polite, however it doesn’t cover the horrible quality food! My impression is, it’s old and brozen!

Extremely polite, customer-​focused staff. Beautiful hotel (inside; outside is not much to look at). The rooms are clean, modern and the bath is higher end like one you wouldn’t mind in your own home.
Restaurant and bar on property, and a mini-​convenience area with everything you’d need if you left a few critical bath products at home.
If I am in this area again, I’m staying here. Great value for the money.

Flight was cancelled so was sent here. First room was occupied… sorry for the people who heard me opening the door at 1AM. Second room key didn’t work, then when they finally let me in, the nightstand was covered in ANTS. Third room was ok, but the floor looked dirty and everything was dingy.
Staff was pleasant, but a free breakfast voucher doesn’t make up for a dirty hotel.

Stayed at this hotel because it was near my corporate office. The front desk staff was extremely welcoming and very pleasant. There’s a very good little convenience store right when you walk in near lobby, they have all kinds of goodies, from regular store cookies to chips to fruits to homemade cookies and brownies to orange juice and Red Bull etc…
The hotel has a lobby bar that’s open till midnight and a small restaurant. The hotel is not modern day décor type but I feel it’s renovated. It doesn’t look anything like the 80s. It’s a Holiday inn folks! The rooms were very clean, the bathrooms are very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I would have no issue staying here again whatsoever.

Really enjoyed my stay here. I booked very last minute and they were able to accommodate me. Great swimming area, restaurant, and small gift shop/​convenience center. My room was very large and clean, as was the fitness area. If necessary, I would have no problem staying here again!
My only negative feedback would be that there are only 2 elevators and it often took about 3 minutes or more of standing around for the elevator to come.
Also wifi was in and out for my entire stay and I ended up going over my phone data plan because it continued to cut out =(

This hotel was clean and recently renovated; the staff was friendly; check-​in and check-​out were easy. However, I’m only giving it two stars for two reasons:
1) When we made the reservation, we told them we’d be arriving late in the day with two small children, and asked to have a rollaway cot set up for the bigger kid. (We brought a foldable crib for the baby.) We arrived at 8:45 pm with exhausted kids, and they had not yet set up the room, but said they would send up a cot right away — and the person at check-​in spoke to a nearby man asking him to do it. That man never brought a cot, and we had to call down to the desk FOUR TIMES to get the cot delivered — it finally arrived at 10:15 pm after I threatened to just let myself down in the basement and take one. (These are little kids, whose normal bedtime is 8!) No apologies, just finally it showed up. This is not okay.
2) When we checked in, the person told us that continental breakfast would be served from 7 – 10 in the morning. When we went down to «The Hub» in the morning, that was true. .. and you had to pay $ 15 for it. Now, with two kids, that was going to run us $ 60 for cold eggs and cereal such as one usually gets for free at this kind of hotel. So, fine, we packed up and went to the Westfield Diner — where a fresh, delicious breakfast for four ran us $ 18.11. It’s not this hotel’s fault that some fool in Corporate decided that if you slapped some paneling on it and called it «The Hub,» you could charge $ 15 for a cruddy breakfast. But I’m not amused, and won’t be staying at this hotel again.

BED BUGS — I stayed here while traveling for work (only because the nicer hotels in the area were all booked up). Woke up at 3am to what I hoped was a spider crawling on me… only to turn on the light and see at least 5 bed bugs on both me and the sheets/​pillow cases. Great way to start a full day of meetings.
I live in Manhattan and understand that this is a widespread issue for private homes as well as hotels, but it is still completely unacceptable.

I bought a Groupon for the restaurant inside the hotel called The Hub. It was a Sunday evening around 6:30pm and the restaurant was empty. There wasn’t a podium where anyone would greet you as you walked in. I had to walk into the dining area until we were noticed by a server who asked if we wanted to be seated. Once seated, we noticed the lighting was very poor — there were dimly lit fluorescent fixtures above us.
The 4 of us ordered our meals and the quality wasn’t good at all. We ordered 2 steak dinners, 1 salad, 1 burger, 1 hot wing appetizer and 1 coke. The bill was $ 110 without tip. Our steaks were fatty, the red potato sides tasted horrible. There were times we didn’t see our server for 10 – 15 minutes. I actually had to walk around looking for her. Once we finally got our check, the chef came out of the kitchen and began clearing our table. I asked him where the busboy was and he said he does everything around there. I couldn’t get over that! In conclusion, the quality of the food did not warrant these high prices. Plus the ambience was very cold and uninviting. Would never go back there.

I attended a wedding here and the customer service, from the front desk to the kitchen, simply wasn’t up to par. The devil is in the details and the details were sorely lacking.
1. No signage and poor directions: When I came in there were no signs or screens directing me to the wedding. When I asked the front desk they sent me to the banquet room where the reception was instead of the small meeting room where the ceremony was being held. By the time I asked 2 more people and figured it out I had to walk into the ceremony late.
2.Transition from ceremony to reception was rough. It was a very tight turnaround and apparently the banquet room was still being set up. Guests were left to mill around the hot, silent foyer for some time. A couple of pitchers of water would have been nice.
3. The reception food was inoffensive, if uninspired. The servings of prime rib at our table were uneven, and I ended up giving a good part of mine to someone who’d been served a way overcooked end piece. When we asked for additional bread for the table we were told there was no more.
These all seem like minor things, but of the 5 (yes, FIVE) weddings I went to last year, this was the first venue where the staff didn’t seem inclined to go «above and beyond». I get that they’re used to corporate clients but for more personal events, a small bit of attention goes a long way.

Our group stayed in this hotel from Oct 31-​Nov 3, 2014 while on a tour of nearby NYC. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly employees at the check in desk. .One particular employee who stands out during our stay was a gentleman named Raheel. He responded to calls ranging from carting out a broken refrigerator, providing cold sodas (machine on our floor would not take money, moving tables and lamps in another room to check plugs, etc. While this may be his job description, his attitude was pleasant, accomodating and refreshing.

Always clean, staff super friendly, parking and check in is a breeze. Only one star off as the layout of the rooms on the first floor is weird. The parkway is righy there! Perfect.

I travel most of the year and have stayed in more hotels that I care to admit. First off this Hotel caters to mainly corporate. That being the case EVERYTHING is noticeably expensive. The breakfast is not free and is a step above the usual continental breakfast that are comped at most places. My room was mediocre. I had a standard king. No fridge! That’s a standard amenity at most hotels. Service is Extremely friendly and courteous that was pleasant. I had a few issues with the room, and mgmt. made it right. The building is an older one and some strange odors will at times get ones attention. Overall GOOD a little pricey but it is what it is. Beautiful pool and very modern bar area.

Definitely will come again. Staff is EXTREMELY helpful and go out of their way than any other hotel I have stayed at recently. Great gym and computers for business. Location is good. All in all this hotel exceeded my expectations by far.
