New Horizons In Autism

New Horizons in Autism is a wonderful organization dedicated to helping young people diagnosed with Autism learn basic skills and get acquainted with community interaction. They have several offices throughout New Jersey. This one located in Clark is extremely clean, friendly, and willing to help every family’s needs. The staff treats each client with love and care and is very mindful of each client’s specific demands. New Horizons deals with low and high functioning Autistic people and staff are required to undergo extensive training before and during their employment here.
A typical day at New Horizons in Clark starts after school (or camp in the summer) and consists of a variety of activities catered to each client’s needs. These can include puzzles, drawing, writing activities, math problems, playing with blocks and balls, sorting, and vocational activities (ie: taking out trash). Clients are also served a snack. After these activities, clients are taken in a group to a community activity (going to the mall, eating at a restaurant, watching a movie in the theater, etc). This is done in an attempt to make each client comfortable with interacting with the community and others. After this activity, each client is driven home by staff between 5:30 and 6.
In all, New Horizons in Autism is a well-​run organization with employees that truly care about each client.
