The Salvation Army

This is probably my favorite Salvation Army in the area. It is well taken care of — but it obviously is still hit or miss based on the donations they get. For a while, I felt like I was walking out with something each time I went.

Today I found 3 separate pictures for a little boys room on display. It was no larger than a 9×9 inch picture. They wanted $ 25 for it. I thought perhaps it was for all 3 pictures. Nope! They wanted $ 25 for this picture. I turned it around to see if there was something of significance to indicate it was a valuable. No. It was bought originally at Home Goods, for $ 12.99.
Seriously? It was used and had a faded frame and you want $ 25 for it? I decided to share this find with another shopper and she was aghast about the price gouging too. So I took it up to the register and asked the cashier if this was for $.25 or for $ 25 dollars. She informed me $ 25 dollars was the correct price. Then she slipped it that it was a collectible.
Serious? It was an Home Goods picture. We all know Home Goods is a store that buys sellouts from local stores. You get stuff there cheap, but it is not of superior quality. Salvation Army has gotten a tad bit greedy in their pricing I have noticed, especially on dresses. It used to be you could get a nice dress for $ 8 dollars. Not any more, they are pricing them $ 14 – 20 dollars and up.

Prices are crazy high! A pair of of out dated and heavily warn lucky jeans for $ 14??? Really? ?? Also make sure you have at least a half hour to stand in line.

A great salvation army. Clean and neat with a great men’s selection. As for the women, lacking in good plus sizes and it’s a bit hard to find your size because everything is arranged according to color and not size BUT that is why when you look at the racks they are so beautiful. If I were a skinny teenage girl I would shop here every week! Great styles for them at awesome prices.

Huge store with a huge range of goods. The staff does a great job preparing pieces for sale, and the store is well-​laid out and looks great.

Bonus, last night was ladies night! Talking to a few other shoppers, I found out that last night between 7pm and 9pm, the entire store was 50% off, excluding new items and orange tags. This changes weekly as far as the colors and specials.
If you’ve been to Salvation Army Thrift Stores before you know they offer one ½ off color each week. This store adds daily specials in addition to that. For example, I believe today was senior day — giving seniors an additional 25% off merchandise. Check the sign in store and website for upcoming deals.
Prices were fair considering the quality of the items they had in stock. I was a bit disappointed in the limited boys apparel and the toy selection. Other than that it was a fun, inexpensive shopping trip.
If you haven’t been to a Salvation Army Thrift Store before, you are missing out! This store is set up department store style, and has a nice selection of clothing, shoes, purses and furniture. The place is huge and although well organized, you still get the treasure hunt feeling that gives thrift store shoppers that euphoric feeling.
