Food was cold. Service was lackluster. Very disappointing as it was relayed to me as a restaurant on the same level as my fav in Ellicott City. Will not be going back.

El Azteca has really held up over the years. We used to go there when my kids were little and it was delicious then. We went there tonight and our whole party enjoyed their food. I had the tacos de Alambre, which have chorizo, bacon, beans, and grilled onions, with melted cheese. Loved it. I had a swirl, which was not that great; the sangria part of it wasn’t frozen, so the«swirl» was not swirly. The salsa has gotten spicier over the years, and the chips are a little thick for my taste – but the rest of my party ate them up.

Pretty good food. Typical american-Mexican food. Good service.

This is a great mexican restaurant. Good menu and a lot of good food. But my friend ordered a dessert one time, and the dessert came piled with coconut shavings and my friend was allergic to coconut but on the menu it didn’t say it came with coconut. …

I’ve gone to El Azteca so many times throughout my childhood and have discovered each time I go it really isn’t that good. The food is decent, but not the anywhere near the best Mexican food I have had. The bathrooms are gross and the place isn’t as clean as I would expect from a restaurant. The part that is the most disappointing is the staff. They aren’t very friendly and have been rude on a few occasions. Needless to say, I won’t be going back.

You wouldn’t expect how good this restaurant is from the outside. The food here was pretty solid and service was quick. The menu is fairly big with a good amount of options. Definitely not than many healthy options if you’re on a diet though! For appetizer we got the ceviche which is a mix of different seafood in a glass filled with lime juice. For entrée I ordered the azteca chimichanga with beef. It came topped with sour cream and lettuce, and with beans and rice on the side. Cleaned my plate it was so delicious! Definitely gotta hit the gym after eating this though

We go here all the time. Great local spot and food is consistently good. Portions are pretty big so I always take half my food to go. The chips and salsa they give you at the start are great.

My family and I come here at least once a week. Ask for annabell or Kris. They are the best!

The service was nice and quick. The front room is jam packed and very loud. The food was edible but not particularly flavorful and the margaritas were too sweet and syrupy. The plates were presented well and were not soupy or overly cheesy. The chips were stale but the salsa was good. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here but if I was hungry and the line for Great Sage was too long it would be an ok alternative. Veg tip: they have a few options, to include bean tacos and a pretty good chile relleno with a weird(possibly canned) pepper and not the fat, dark green poblanos I’m used to. The bean burrito I ordered turned out to be a burro enchilada style. I’m not sure if it was made incorrectly it they don’t know the difference. Again, another disappointing adventure in east coast Mexican-style food and while I cleaned my entire plate, I was left wanting for a good house hot sauce.

The best Mexican restaurant in Howard County in my opinion. I had the steak tacos al carbon and they were excellent. It was definitely worth the drive.

Food and drinks here just aren’t very good. Chicken fajita salad is just a plain salad in a taco shell with dry chicken on top(no onions or anything else indicating a fajita) and a scoop of sour cream. My maragarita was also very watered down. For convenience sake, it’s a nice spot to catch up with friends if you’re in Clarksville.

Very good chille releno with an extra spicy kick. Salsa was very good and chips taste fresh. Food was quick. Overall good meal. However, we love white cheese dip and they do not serve it. Overall, good place to go.

Maybe it’s not the most authentic food, but it is flavorful, the service is very nice, and this is a true neighborhood hangout where children are welcome, and you may run into the neighbors. Drinks were great and the music is also fun. We love Sunday dinner here.

As a lifelong Clarksville/Highland resident, I’m a huge fan of El Azteca. I always recommend dining in with a group of friends and enjoying chips and salsa, margaritas and an entrée, but carry out is a good option too. Their carry out is usually extremely speedy and a good alternative if the restaurant has a long wait. I’m a fan of everything on the menu– the grilled fish tacos are great, the enchilladas blancas are gooey cheesey goodness(try with the verde sauce!), taco salad, so much more. My father has gotten the chicken burrito grande before and the chicken mole and enjoyed those. There are so many menu options, you will definitely find something you like. Parking is annoying and scarce– be sure not to park in the 15 minute parking for the liquor store next door.

A little bit on the pricey end for what you get. When ordering the steak and or chicken fajitas the meat is very SPARSE you get more onions than you do meat and only 3 tortillas. Try coming in Friday or Saturday you’ll barely ever get a seat at the bar. I would recommend this place for lunch and a casual dinner.

Update: I hate to say this but I’m downgrading El Azteca down to 4 stars. While the quality of the food is the same they’ve changed their menu in recent months. Sure it was time for an update but they’ve dramatically increased some of their prices. While some prices haven’t changed much, others have risen so high that I refuse to order a dish at that price point. They just went a bit too far with some items. Some highlights include: Queso Fundido $ 10.95(!!!), Carne Asada $ 22.95, Shrimp Fajitas $ 17.95, Chicken or Steak Fajitas $ 16.95, Tacos Al Carbon $ 13.95, and Tres Combination $ 15.75. Chicken fajitas for just about $ 17 is way too high and a dip at nearly $ 11 is ridiculous. Don’t even get me started on the lunch prices! While these prices may be acceptable to new customers, many of El Azteca’s customers are long time repeat customers. We remember the old menu we ordered off of for years! When my family saw the new prices we nearly all fell out of our chairs. I truly hope the new prices don’t deter first time customers. Lastly, they removed the tostada from their combination options. My family always got tostadas with combinations! Not cool!

Love love love love this place! I tend to stop here on the way to Linganore Winery or on the way home from the winery, either way I stop here no matter what. My Mother and I just LOVE this place! Did I mention that I love this place? I have to agree with previous reviewers which stated that you can tell if the food at a Mexican restaurant is going to be amazing or nasty based solely on their salsa and chips. This place has some of the best salsa around – crisp, fresh and smells amazing! The décor of the bar is very Tex-Mex styled and the bathrooms are super clean(always a good note to make – shows that they care). When I come here my Mother always orders a California Burrito and I order some sort of Enchilada Special Dish. We NEVER finish all of our food since the food to plate ratio is amazing! Therefore, Dad always has a snack when we get home – he also loves this place but has actually never been there(lol). The most delicious item on the entire menu is their coconut margarita. I get so happy just thinking of it! *Don’t forget it makes a great to-go lunch if you are heading to the winery! Linganore has plenty of tables for picnics =) *I believe they are owned/co-owned by the same people who own and run La Palapa and Pachanga Grill and Cocina Mexicana.

Cute place that was busy on a holiday night. We were greeted by the host as soon as we walked in. We ordered vegetarian items: muchos nachos and the vegetarian dinner. Both were huge portions(left with most of it as leftovers) and food was delicious and well seasoned. Vegetarian food at Mexican places can sometimes be bland but not here. We also tried 2 special margaritas, tamarind and spicy mango, both delicious! Very strong, my husband couldn’t drive home after. The place was nice, has different sections, including a bar area with tv’s and more of a sports bar feel. Our waitress was also super sweet and attentive. We’ll be back!

Ate dinner here last night and it was wonderful. The food was fresh, our order was correct and everything tasted wonderful. Our waitress was Mariza and she was very pleasant and helpful. The house margarita was out of this world! Like wow.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s just a good time. The place is loud and sometimes cramped for space. The service is good as is the food. Not great, but good enough to come back. They have a bunch of different margarita choices(flavored, unflavored, top shelf, just ok tequila, on the rocks, frozen) and a full bar. First time I was here I had the Carne Asada. Fair warning, they basically bring you a full steak– no small time slices on this dish. The last two times I’ve had their fajitas. Both chicken and steak are very good. A friend has had the shrimp and also enjoyed it. It’s a good place to catch up with a friend over drinks but I would say don’t bring a large party unless you expect no one to be able to hear each other.
