We bought a 100+ year old farmhouse. When we bought said house, it was in frightening condition.
Basically, it needed a complete renovation. We are currently in the process of said renovation.
Having lived my entire life in city dwellings attached to sewer lines, I had no working knowledge of a septic system. This house has a septic system.
To my absolute horror and disgust, said septic system backed up into the house about a month after we bought the place. Not being a huge fan of raw sewage, I promptly moved the family into a local hotel and began calling «septic people».
The fact that this happened at 6pm on a Friday was my complete undoing. We spent the weekend in the hotel because we couldn’t find anyone willing to take care of the problem on a Saturday.
Monday morning, however, brought a ray of hope in the form of GD Estes. These fine folks sent two polite and efficient gentlemen to my home within 24 hours of contact. They promptly diagnosed the problem and corrected it for less than 200 bucks.
Had they not smelled like sewage, I would have kissed them both.
