So, I’m not a pretty face.
Well, sometimes I guess I can be, but I’m not exactly a star. I don’t really intend to be. When I heard that Drew Barrymore was shooting a film in MI and looking for ‘extras’, I thought hey why not. I wasn’t really expecting much.
But when all you have to do is send your name, age, and some pictures… what is there to lose?
I eventually did get to work on the film set, along with quite a few people who were with Real Style. They took care of people on the set, and I even ‘signed’ up with them. I don’t have a job, so if I can get ‘paid’ to be in the background of something, why not?
So far, I’ve worked on about 3 or so projects in the Metro Detroit area. It’s the only work that I’ve been able to find, and I’m not even a model type! Or Actress type.
Sometimes it’s a little hard when Real Style sends you to a fitting, or something, and you’re not picked, or told that you’re too big for the clothes… But when I told this to the women, they apologized and treated me like a person. It was touching.
While I don’t get a lot of work compared to other people, the fact that I am getting any sort of work, makes me pretty happy. I hope this business will lead to other businesses similar. I hope that Detroit becomes more involved with the Film Industry.
