Only giving 2 stars because my stylist, Kayla, was talented and did a nice job with my color. The salon really has no ambiance… felt more like being in a hall with hair chairs. The other stylists and clients were very catty and talking about things that were really inappropriate for any public business… especially when you don’t know who is sitting next to you. I often felt like I did not have my stylists undivided attention. She would speak primarily with the other stylists, had answered her cell phone while applying my color and on one occasion had her child there sick, who was running around the salon and hanging on her. I understand children get sick, but I’d be happy to reschedule instead of being around a sick child. I can’t get sick and thankfully didn’t. There were children running in the salon more than once… not really relaxing. I really did like her. I think she would excel in a more professional salon. Her work was good. The salon owner never once smiled, in fact, had a very arrogant, dismissive attitude to everyone in there who was not his client. He Walked through the salon, never looking at or greeting any customers, except his own. Felt very much like«outsiders» are not welcome. I had been passed off for shampooing on two occasions… both times I could have just done it myself. These girls has no training and I still had shampoo in my hair after the rinsing. I said something and she argued with me. I went home and shampooed myself to get it all out. Very unprofessional atmosphere and attitude in this salon. Upon checkout, I was very shocked at the prices, given the salon and quality of services. I paid with a credit card and was told that I could only leave $ 10 or less for tip on my card because they can’t payout for tips. Well, I don’t carry cash and I felt bad that my stylist got screwed on a tip because this was never mentioned prior. The woman at the checkout desk was super friendly and helpful. She was the best part of the experience. I tried this salon for about 6 months and just couldn’t make it work. Unfortunately, I had to find another salon which is much father away, but a better overall experience.

I’m not quite sure how to feel, so I will give 3 stars, I’ll feel bad low balling and giving 2. Also because, maybe me not getting what I wanted might be partially my own fault. I had my hair done w/Amanda. I walked in for a consultation, and upon meeting Amanda, the color her hair was, is EXACTLY what I wanted. I had been scouring images on pinterest for weeks trying to find the best picture to show to a stylist of what I wanted. When I saw her, I was so excited, because I just told her«look in the mirror, that’s what I want!» Now, I wanted to be BLONDE. Not platinum blonde, but I mean like a Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood type of blonde, but I do want lowlights so when my roots grow in, it doesn’t look so crappy and I can go longer in between colorings. But mostly I want to be blonde, and that is what Amanda’s hair looked like. It looked great. Blonde w/some lowlights. So I had my hair done, and to be honest, it barely looks any different than when I walked in there. I mean, I had told people at work that I couldn’t wait to get my hair done that weekend, and when I walked in the following Mon, pretty much everyone said to me «I thought you were getting your hair done?!» Well, yeah, I did. You can see a little bit of highlights here and there, and the lowlights, pretty much are the exact same color my hair was going in. So it doesn’t really look any different. I think the highlight to lowlight ratio she did on me is like an 80% lowlight /20% highlight. It shoud’ve been the other way around! Amanda did tell me at the end of the visit — «next time you come in we can get it a little blonder». Now, what upset me is if my hair needs a few sessions to get what I want that’s fine, but I need to be given that expectation. I wasn’t. I expected to be blonde coming out of the salon, and I’m not. I was talking to a friend, and she said this was kind of my fault, because I told them I wanted lowlights. If I expected to be blonde I should have never asked for lowlights. So I dunno. Maybe that was my fault, maybe I incorrectly expressed exactly what I wanted. But when I told her I wanted my hair color to look exactly like hers and it doesn’t, not even close, I was shocked. I think Amanda’s abilities to color and style hair are great, and she’s super cool to talk to while she is doing your hair, but I feel she didn’t quite listen to what I wanted. Even if it was my fault for expressing it wrong. But I feel like she could’ve gone w/what I was saying, and then offered different suggestions based on my wants. If she knew that I would not get the results I wanted based on what I was asking for, she could’ve told me «well no you won’t want that, you’ll want this instead».

I visited Bent Tree Salon twice. Both times, I had Erica as a stylist. My first impression of the salon was mediocre, but I wanted to give it one more shot. Upon leaving the salon the first time, I received a coupon towards $ 10.00 off any color procedure, so I later scheduled an appointment for a full highlight. During the coloring procedure, I felt like I did not have Erica’s undivided attention. She asked Ed to shampoo my hair and take the foils out, but he pawned me off on the girl at the front desk without mention. After drying my hair, I noticed little difference, if any, for a full highlight. I felt disappointed, but this was not the icing on the cake. I asked Erica if she would throw a few quick curls in my hair as she styled it. However, at this time, she failed to mention that she would be charging me styling fees on top of my cut and color services for those few quick curls which took her less than two minutes total to complete. When I checked out, I almost passed out when they told me I owed a total of $ 109 for what I got. I had my coupon on the table, but was so shocked by the price that I paid in cash, with another partial payment on my debit card. As soon as she swiped my card I said, «Wait…I have my $ 10.00 coupon!» She acted disgusted that she already ran my card, then spoke with Erica and Ed, then Ed tuned in to say, «can’t you just bring the coupon in the next time?» I stood my ground and said… No! I won’t be coming back again, and I want my $ 10.00 back in cash. Finally, they agreed, but it was an uncomfortable experience. Bottom line… if you are not a true local, or a true regular to this salon, be weary. This place came off very small town, talk behind a client’s back snobbish to me! And I am a friendly, easy going gal. I did not appreciate the way Erica avoided telling me that if she added curls to my hair, she would have to charge extra. I felt this was sneaky and really bad business practice! I also like a stylist to show more confidence in their ability to know what kind of cut and color is right for your face shape and skin tone, without too much input from me, the client.

Had the BEST experience yesterday with Kala. Thank you for posting a Facebook bargain. I am so happy with my new cut! I wish you were at my home this morning to make it look just like it did when I left Bent Tree yesterday! Thank you !!!
