Recently leased an apt in one of Western Continental’s (same owner as BIH) buildings. Apartment is super nice: beautiful hardwoods throughout, SS appliances, the quietest ceiling fans I’ve ever had, plus no pet deposit. The walls, at least in my bldg, are plaster and concrete, and are not paper thin.
The reason for low rating is that all maintenance is handled by an individual who responds but often doesn’t follow through. If there is an emergency after business hours, it can be a real problem.
The owner, Daniel Slavin, who operates under several corporate names, seems like a nice guy. I’ve discussed this problem with him, but it remains to be seen whether things will improve. I wouldn’t say NOT to rent here, as there are certainly far worse places. But the rents are top of the market, and the service to date has been sub-​par. If things improve, I will update this review. In the meantime, caveat emptor.
