Please be aware there are two locations we got lost couldn’t find either happened to actually find it by luck as we were arguing over where it was! Anyway the food was good! Come enjoy the classic country food…

I was on my way to North Carolina and stopped for lunch on the way in Clayton. There are some things you must know about Henry’s, because I almost turned away as I opened the door. They spelled dining room wrong(«dinning»), the crowd was on the much, much older side, and I felt like I had just been transported to 1985, mainly due to the completely outdated décor. Did any of it matter? No. The fried chicken may have been the best I’ve ever had, the Mac and cheese was something that only dreams can conjure up, and the(what seemed to be) homemade ice cream at the end solidified this five star review. There’s a Waffle House past Henry’s, but don’t waste your time at a chain.

A local institution serving the BEST Fried Chicken !!! Crispy, tender, juicy, and very lightly breaded. This is southern cooking! Local cabbage, green beans, homemade yeast rolls. If you like homemade dressings with your salad, Chow Chow with your green beans, hand churned ice cream, and REAL banana pudding — Did I mention this was all homemade? — then Henry’s is for you as it has been for us for over 40 years.

They only have a buffet but it’s fresh and very good. It was packed with all age groups because it’s not your typical buffet.

Henry’s smelled like old people and it was filled with old people. I was very disappointed in how old everyone was. And the food was sitting out and I had to plate the food myself. I will not return.

Henry’s is a family owned local landmark in Clayton and I’ve eaten there many times over the past 30+ years. They serve good olé country food, buffet style, and the people who work there are real nice. Nothing fancy… comfort food like grandma used to make.
