It was decent. Kind of over priced for being a glorified Applebee’s. Atmosphere was pretty good, but I wasn’t blown away by the menu. The Mac and cheese balls were good and the mahi tacos also good but again I wasn’t overwhelmed with happiness after my meal.

A place where you and your buddies meet for drinks and eat if you have too. I was here on a slow night apparently because the staff was just all hanging around the front door chatting away occasionally looking over to see if we were waving them down for something. I’m sure this place is fine for the 20 somethings. but I’ll pass from now on.

Obnoxiously loud and I couldn’t tell who was louder, the televisions or the crowd on a Saturday afternoon. Service was not the greatest, and it’s no wonder our server brought us diet cokes when we ordered regular; he obviously cannot hear us correctly over the din. The food was variable, depending on what it was. The dressing for the Caesar salad was actually very good, and I am hard to please. The asparagus and shrimp risotto paled in comparison with the taste of the salad. It was bland. The loaded Mac and cheese was average in flavor. We could not wait to get out of there because of the level of noise. If the food were scrumptious, we would overlook the noise and return, but this will not be the case.

Came here for the first time on Thanksgiving eve. They were packed, and service was still great and the bartenders were more than accommodating. Had an amazing time.

Okay. Nothing special. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that downtown Clayton didn’t completely shut down after 9 pm on a Friday night. A member of my group ordered nachos, which came in a generous portion, but the chips themselves were thin and unsubstantial. They tasted okay. I think what detracted from the experience the most for me was that the waitress was overly, ah, friendly with my group, in particular, one member. She overstayed her welcome on several occasions. I found myself wondering why she was still hanging around and if she was ignoring other customers, as the bar was getting pretty packed as the night went on.

Fun place for burgers. My teenagers like it here. The Wheelhouse Burger is good. Also lots of other options. There is an entire section of the menu dedicated to Mac and Cheese. Not very diet friendly for the calorie sensitive. Tonight is trivia night.

Came in town for a wedding and killed a few hours before the reception at The Wheelhouse. To put it bluntly, we should have gone somewhere else. The service was terrible. Absolutely terrible. I was a server for many years, so I know the job isn’t terribly difficult as long as you are able to multi-task somewhat efficiently, which our server could not do. — wrong drinks, multiple times, is a no no. We mentioned it both times, and we’re never brought the correct drink so we just dealt with it. Food was decent, nothing special, but definitely not terrible. All in all, service is way more important to me than food /atmosphere — and again, incase it wasn’t clear, the service was terrible. Best part, she forgot to enter in my food, so I sat while the rest of the table ate and our server was doing God knows what.

A pretty standard bar. Didn’t really find anything to be too exceptional about it.

Ate at Wheelhouse for lunch. Ordered a burger to be cooked MEDIUM. Waiter said there would be pink in the middle. Burger was HARD and DRY with no flavor. Will not return.

Had a great meal with the family at Wheelhouse. The food has an an upscale flair from the normal bar and grill type place; very well presented and prepared! The wait staff went above and beyond — everyone was upbeat and fun. Eric, our waiter, was attentive and accommodating with our requests — had a positive attitude and«can’t» wasn’t in his vocabulary. The place is definitely«energetic» and a bit loud, but the volume didn’t bother us at all. We will definitely be back. Nice having a casual dining experience in the heart of Clayton without giving up nicely prepared food.

Not much good to say. Stopped in for happy hour and were seated in the bar. They were not crowded at all and had plenty of wait staff. They all seemed to like each other, but failed to wait our table. After 15 minutes we left. That is a management problem for sure. If you want to have a good experience I suggest going elsewhere.

Did you recently graduate from Mizzou? Did you belong to a frat or sorority? Did you just start a job in finance/banking in Clayton? Congrats, you have been invited to The Wheelhouse. Do you own several North Face jackets and did your parents buy you a nice, new car? Congrats, you are a VIP. I hate to knock a bar or restaurant because of their customers. They don’t always invite the clientele that frequent their establishment. However, the Wheelhouse is in some way connected to Harpos, the well-known Columbia bar that every Mizzou frat guy has called his second home. The Wheelhouse wisely embraces their Mizzou roots as it helped fill the bar in the first place. I’ll grant you that I drank at Harpos often. It is a good college bar. However, I never drank there and then proceeded to start fights and vomit on the floor. Those graduates of Harpos flowed right to The Wheelhouse. If you want to rub elbows with Wall Street wannabes and then get into a fight because you actually rubbed elbows, this is a great place to go. If you want to wear a dress that is the size of a hand towel, this is a great place to go. If you desperately miss Mizzou and wish you were back there, this is a great place to go. I always believe that I’m going to find the Alpha Beta jocks from Revenge of the Nerds drinking here. The only saving grace for The Wheelhouse is that I once saw Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester here. Jay Bouwmeester is awesome. So that’s 834 stars for Jay Bouwmeester, a negative 835 stars for the bros, and 3 stars because it’s probably a decent place to eat. Just leave before 9. Don’t even get me started on the Wheelhouse Downtown. I’m actually afraid to go in there. Damn college kids with their loud Mackelmore music and butt chugging.

I echo the sentiment in other reviews in that the late night scene at Wheelhouse is pretty obnoxious. I went here on a Saturday and it was packed to the brim with young 20 somethings. It kind of reminded me of a lot of the popular late night spots on Wash Ave. You should probably only go here if you’re looking to pick up a guy/girl. Not if you’re wanting to enjoy the company you arrived with. If you’re looking for a quieter bar, there are much better places around. You’ll get better service, more options, and will be able to hear the group you’re with. I’m sure there food is decent but it’s hard no as far as bars go.

This place is for bros. My review would be one star except I save that for extreme conditions or exceptionally terrible food. The clientele at this place is just the worst.

I ordered the 8oz blue cheese burger medium well with mayo on the side & an LTOP on the side with french fries & a side salad with the daytime bartender, Kara on a Tuesday afternoon. My meal was prepared to order the exact way I preferred & specified & was delivered in a timely manner too. I am impressed by the speediness of the service & recommend you try The Wheelhouse too! YUM!

Funny. Reading the reviews, it seems like this place is a better restaurant than a bar /nightclub. Luckily for me, I went there for lunch with a group of coworkers for lunch. I had a Creole Mac ‘n Cheese, one of 4 different Mac ‘n Cheese options they have on the menu. It was awesome, and I’m sure I’ll be back to try the other 3. Service was fast and attentive, the place was clean. Not sure what else I could ask for.

1st time visit today, stopped in during happy hour. With this place being located in Clayton, the crowd was a mix of businessmen and collegians mostly. Definitely suitable as a sports bar, from every seat in the house there’s a clean line of site to 4⁄5 tvs. I wasn’t impressed with their happy hour specials… wine and buckets of beer, however, I was pleased to see that my Glenlivet and pineapple only cost me $ 6. Looking over the menu, there’s a nice range of offerings, something for everyone. I settled on the Loaded Fingerling Potatos. In my opinion, the size of the dish was comparable to price. There are several dishes I’d like to try, so I’ll definitely be back.

This review is for the bar/late night scene at the wheelhouse. It’s been described as a High school reunion or a «College bar» in the summer among locals. I’ll state simply that as someone not from the area, I think you’ll find it of limited appeal. However, if you’ve been seeking that obnoxiously loud bar littered with attractive 20 somethings, well maybe this will work for you.

I had a side salad for $ 3 and a half order of the Classic Nacho Platter for lunch for $ 8. The nachos were ginormous, and I didn’t even get halfway through it as my meal before I had to turn it over to the table to finish off. Just a huge, huge portion for a half order. Needless to say I didn’t get to touch my side salad, which they kindly boxed up for me. My male friends commented on seeing so many hot servers. But I’ll just point out that our server was very friendly and prompt. They had some unique drink/shot offerings, but I’ll stay at 3 starts for now until I’ve tried more.

Decided to try this place on a whim last night. Wanted a place where we could both watch the game and get food we could both enjoy(oft times a difficult challenge.) Noticed I had bookmarked the Wheelhouse so we decided to drive on over to Clayton for some food, drank, and baseball. It was crowded and noisy in there, but we got a table without needing to wait. Our server was really great; both knowledgeable and friendly(and cute!) I tried the risotto of the day which turned out to be a shrimp and green onion risotto. It had a rich smokey flavor, and I enjoyed it. I ate the whole thing and was pretty satisfied. I also tried their Strawberry Mojo drink… it was more like a strawberry lemonade than a mojito, but I still enjoyed it. Sean ordered a bacon cheese burger. I didn’t try it, but it looked pretty good. He enjoyed it. We watched the game and generally had a good time. The manager came by and asked us if everything was going okay, which I’ve noticed a lot of high-end restaurants don’t even do anymore, though it seems to be a standard practice at chain-type of restaurants. Staff in general was nice here. Did notice it was kinda weird that some buff looking dudes were standing around in random spots with their arms crossed almost like bouncers… but it was weird because I feel like they had nothing to do… kinda awkward. Maybe it turns into a dance club later on in the night and they’re needed to break up barfights or something? Hah, IDK. I’d probably come back here. The brick chicken sounded good as did the shrimp dip. Prices aren’t unreasonable, and it’s definitely on the ‘higher-end’ of bar food.
