Sandman Motel

I’m still on vacation writing this review. Bottom line, this place is weird and gross. Manager is racist. My family has a total of 4 rooms and we are a racially mixed group. When our «lighter side» of the fam showed up to check in first, they were received well, but to their shock, the Manager told them only «black people» try to park at the motel and sneak off to the beach so he tows their cars.
Later, our «darker half» of the fam checked in and were received extremely rudely. Trying to get things like parking passes or the key to the grill was much easier when we sent our «lighter half» into the office to request those items than when our «darker half» tried. We received the stink eye often from the Manager for just hanging out at the pool, even though we are a bunch of ³⁰⁄₄₀ something’s with children. It was like we’ve been treated like a bunch of rowdy spring breakers. I don’t get it.
There were several incidents in addition to these that I just don’t have time to mention. All of this would have ruined our vacation but because my family makes the best of anything bad and we have a blast no matter what. However, never again will we come here.
I can see that no matter how crummy this motel is, it’ll always make money due to its location, so Management doesn’t have to cater to guest needs. There are strange families too. Its so dirty that you may end up getting something like bed bugs, Meningitis, or Guardia. One of our kids is already sick with a high fever and were only into half our vacation. I now know why this was the only place available when we booked in April. Next year we will make sure to reserve earlier with Echo Sails or another boutique motel.
The only plus is that Housekeeping was helpful and very friendly.

Clean, spacious. Not fancy, but so convenient to the beautiful beaches. Everything is walking distance. Pool is awesome. Laundry facilities. Many types of rooms to choose from. Very helpful and friendly staff. All around a fantastic choice!
