It saddens me deeply to have to leave this review, however I have to be perfectly honest here. My consultation and appointment went well, or so I thought… A few days later after getting extension, the threads started coming out and I called to go back in– no call back. In fact, 5 texts and 3 phone calls later… still NO return call. This truly perplexes me, because the salon was very clean, well stocked, and the owner Michelle and I hit it off quite well. I thought I had finally found my ‘home’ salon after just recently moving here from LA and trying to find a new hair person. So now, not only can I not correct her mistake, but I have to painstakingly go back to researching yet another personal hairstylist. I honestly don’t know what happened to her or being professional, but I say this with all honesty, do not go to this establishment, or you will be terribly disappointed.

Excellent service, pleasant atmosphere. The stylist/owner is commended. She is efficient, and knowledgeable. I hate spending a day at any salon, so I stopped going to salons. I like Blew Chocolate because we do not spend excessive hours in the salon to get excellent service. I was so impressed with the products used on my hair that I returned a few days later to purchase for at-home use. The products are excellent. My hair texture is naturally soft, but felt like silk after my appointment. She suggested I go natural and I feel confident to follow her advice. Relatives have relaxed hair and from touch ups to cuts and trims, nothing has been less than perfect. We are a family of women and all of us have received quality service here that is comparable to esteemed NY salon experiences. People regularly compliment us on our hair. The owner’s manner is wRm and professional. The salon is clean, tastefully decorated and well-managed.

Several things wrong with this place. First, I had to wait 50 minutes for my appointment that I had booked in advance, while she finished another customer. BAD time management. Second, the place is dirty. Dirty floors, towels, sinks. She gave me a towel to wipe my face after washing my hair. I refused it and used my sleeves. Dirty. Third, she does not listen to the customer. She put my weave on HER way. She is so rude, I could not talk to her, so I had to let her do it her way, not the right way. She does not listen and believes she knows it all. Fourth, OVERPRICED. Ridiculous. Outrageous. 3 times what I have paid. The worst part is the dirty towels, floors and sinks and that she yells at her clients. She knows some things, but she does NOT know it all.

I called this studio to ask about prices and their products. I was very excited to see an established business that offered various services to various hair types and so I called to inquire about their prices. The woman who answered(the owner of the studio), started off the conversation politely but once I asked for specific pricing information, she became very rude to me. She stated that this is not a «budget salon»(which I am not sure why she assumed I was looking for that) and that she is «not in competition» with anyone in the area. Her tone was very rude and made me uncomfortable and she began speaking over me when I tried to explain the reason for my questions. I then stated that I was not meaning to insult her by simply asking the price, I was simply interested in getting an estimate. She continued to speak over me and had a few choice words to say that I will not repeat in this review. I am not sure if she was having a bad day but that phone call left me feeling unhappy and completely offended. I was excited to support my local business, particularly someone who is willing to provide services for women with natural hair, but I will not be visiting this salon nor do I recommend them if this is the attitude that they have towards their customers.
