Yuck! Don’t waist your time or money! I don’t even understand how they could even call this mexican food! Bland no flavor at all! Thankfully we took it to go and I had taco sauce to drowned it in for flavor! My husband threw his food away! I would not have even given one star! Basically it’s plain fried hamburger on white rice! No seasoning at all come on! Listen to your critics and take some advice and redo your recipes! I’m a local and believe me I definitely tell people how disgusting your food is! Simply go to the grocery store and buy a fricken taco seasoning packet for the hamburger! Never will I be back!

Have been here multiple times plus they catered my grad party. amazing sauce and any food I’ve ordered here has been great. I would recommend the chalupa and if you’ve never been there before buy a bottle of gringo sauce to take home with you!

Gringo is basically roughly translated to mean non-Mexican person. And their food tastes like it was made by a non-Mexican person. This has got to be some of the most bland Mexican food I have had for awhile. The steak burrito I got was big. I will give it that. But when I took a bite I saw why it was so big, full of rice and about nothing else. And we are talking basically white rice, the flecks of spice can’t justify this rice to be Mexican rice. I got fajita veggies in my burrito, which amounted to two pieces of onion and pepper. And don’t give me that crap that this food is Minn-Mex, there is no such thing. Mexican food without any kind of seasoning or spice is not Mexican food just like seafood without the sea isn’t seafood. If I wanted tasteless hamburger and rice I would buy hamburger helper for a buck and cook it at home. And tasteless is not an excuse for food ever so don’t call it Minn-Mex… The chips that came with it were deep fried to a dark brown crisp and tasted like deep fried junk. YUCK. Ate one and threw the rest, luckily you don’t get many to start off with. Their secret sauce is not really secret, ranch dressing with taco seasoning mixed in. Yipee. I can’t believe they got Lunds and Byerly’s to sell it for $ 4.99, what a joke. The décor was tacky and a hodgepodge of random things. And would you stop printing out sheets of paper and using them as signs? Who is going crazy in the back with the printer? Chipotle is the same price. Check please.

I love this place. I’ve tried quesadillas, mexican pizza, chimichangas, tacos & burritos. Everything I’ve tried has been great. Meat tastes fresh and many kinds to choose from. The southwest sauce they put on everything is what really makes their food special. I always ask for extra sauce. Nothing to complain about at this place. Its fast, good & different. I go there as often as I can even though I do not live in Clearwater.

Taco shells were stale and the sauce was not spicy at all. Overall disappointing. Really wanted to like this place and have Mexican cuisine nearby. You are better off going to Nelson Brothers next door for decent food.

I had a Burrito and chips, not very good. The burrito ingredients were not spread out evenly, the meat and tomatoes were all at one end, the rice was like a giant ball at the other. Chips tasted greasy and kinda burnt. Maybe they needed to change the fryer oil. Only redeeming factor for the place was the Southwest sauce. It was pretty good, tastes like a mix of mayo and taco seasoning. Was tempted to buy a bottle, but not for $ 5.

Food said«fresh»… We beg to differ. My chicken chimi tasted like it was frozen and reheated, almost impossible to cut through with the plastic silverware. Burritos were mostly rice, not a lot of meat or beans! The sauce was good, and that’s about it,

Well once again we find ourselves out for a Sunday drive. This time we find ourselves in Clearwater just after lunch time. I read about this place years ago and have wanted to try it. Sooo we did. Our first impression when we entered the was the total lack of smells. Nothing to draw you in with anticipation of a meal that will leave you wanting to come back. To us the menu is to long with to many combinations to be a great place to eat. We ordered a burrito with ground beef and chimichanga with shredded beef. The burrito was first to arrive at the table. My first impression is it is a a good size portion but the little amount of homemade chips was just the start of our dismal experience. The burrito was more rice than anything with ground hamburger and and little bit of black beans. My first bite should have been my last. Total lack of flavor. So I poured on the hot sauce. .ahh heat and spices, made this tolerable but still disappointed. The taco gringo sauce tastes like doritos in sour cream. Personally I don’t like doritos so I am a little biased on it. The ability to go to the local store and by it, to me, tells me the focus is on mass marketing than quality. The wife happened to be up near the counter and watched her PRE-MADE chimichanga come out of a bag and straight to the deep fryer. It arrives just a few minutes after the burrito. There were 2 on her plate smothered in the gringo sauce. Her first bite is all rice. She is as disappointed as I am. She managed her way thru half of it when she found some shredded beef. Hoping the flavor was in the beef, nope nothing. After she finished her first one we gave up. Just like the burrito all we could taste was rice and beef. No spices and again no smells emanating from the food to draw you in to eat more. The Salas you get to pick from are fresh I will give them that, the salsa with heat they forgot the heat part in ours. Probably different each time as it seemed freshly made so not complaining about this. Fresh is good! One start for the service one for the portion size. The missing 3 stars are flavors smells and leaving wanting to come back again.

Quick stop on the way to UND. Always prefer an independent restaurant over a chain and this place does not disappoint. Southwest burrito was really good, and my husband had the chimichangas. Lots of food, but not too much meat in the chimis. Southwest sauce is pretty good, but do not expect heat with the«salsa with heat». There is hot sauce readily available. Will definitely stop next time we are going through.

Simple menu but amazing taste! The challupas are delicious. Select meals come with homemade tortilla chips and jasmine? rice. Don’t be expecting an oversized platter dinner like other Mexican restaurants though as it is more like a fast food place, but their meals/combos are big enough in my opinion. They have a good homemade southwest sauce and salsas too! I have experienced them being closed before their posted time though.

Anothet good Mexican restaurant we visited 2 weeks ago. A small rather hidden eat-in or take out. Good for lunch. There are about 8 tables with chairs. The portions are decent. The menus are written on a board, so you have to get close to it. Our respect to the young servers and the cooks. We get back to it. The chairs are rather weak, so we had to sit careful down. But all in all, its worth a check-in.

My family of 5 decided to give Taco Gringo a try. In the rain we got out and walked up to the door. The employees were looking at us and shut off the lights at 8:04PM. The problem is on their website and right on the front door it clearly states open until 9PM! I would think an independent restaurant owner would welcome every customer they get. I will never try the place again. There is an absolutely excellent Burrito place in St Cloud that will continue to get my business instead of this place.

Menu is confusing, portions were small, no corn tortillas, no tortilla chips. On the positive side, getting my food was super fast.

Mexican Food for Gringos: Simple Minnesota Mexican food, for those of you not familiar with Minn-Mex its similar to Tex-Mex with less spice and variety. This place gets props for using fresh ingredients, serving reasonable portion sizes, and charging fair prices. The element that puts this place over the top for most is their«Taco Gringo Sauce» which may cause you to start singing mariachi and scrounging for a Corona because of all of the MSG in it.(If you become addicted to the sauce they sell it by the bottle at the restaurant and local grocery stores.) Overall this is a quality place to stop and grab a quick bite to eat as there aren’t many options in the area. However I can’t quite get over the name, :-) only in Central Minnesota can you get away with calling a place«Gringo» and have people come in without hesitation.

My hubby and I stopped here for a quick bite to eat on our way up to the cabin. This place is a nice change of pace from the typical highway fast food joints. I ordered two chicken tacos and thought they were decent. Each taco is about $ 3. I thought the chicken was pretty good and flavorful. Each taco comes with lettuce, cheese, their special sauce and choice of salsa. I thought the corn and black bean salsa left a little to be desired. My hubby ordered the taco combo which came with two tacos, rice and chips. He got beef tacos, and I thought the chicken was a lot better. The beef seemed pretty bland. I would recommend skipping the combo since it just comes with plain white rice and tortilla chips. You don’t even get extra salsa for the chips. Overall, this place was OK, but I’m not sure I would stop back.

On my way up north over the weekend, we took an alternative route on 94 to 10, rather than the usual 169 way. We were hungry so decided to give Taco Gringo a try. I had the fajita burrito. My group also got some quesadillas and tostadas. It was definitely a great alternative to the other fast foods around the exit. But I wouldnt go out of my way and take the alternative route again just to have it.
