You could be forgiven for thinking that I am Irish, especially when I was younger. My ginger hair, pale skin and astoundingly resilient liver could easily lead one to that conclusion about my ancestry. To my knowledge though, I don’t have any relatives from that tiny island. It is this same type of surface-based conclusion-drawing that could lead you to believe that The Freaki Tiki Bar is actually a Tiki Bar. The name, the copious amounts of Kona-style Tiki masks and the proximity to the beach could easily draw you in. However, after going in, looking over the menu and eating here, it quickly becomes clear that this is a sports bar dressed up like a Tiki bar. It seems like a fine sports bar, but I was fairly disappointed when I asked about their drink menu and was promoted the 2-for-1 domestic beer special. I’m in the mood for a Mai Tai, and I’m offered twice as much Bud Light, so the night isn’t starting well. Well, I’d already gotten lost by going to the Freaky Tiki Surf Shack that was located across a bunch of bridges only to turn around and finally find the bar. Thanks, Siri. Now this beer thing. Power through. There’s a lot of masks up, lots of bamboo, not too many people here. We can still salvage this. «Do you have any Tiki drinks?» I asked the bar tender. Yep, they had one; the Totem. Lots of ingredients, fruits, rum, souvenir glass. Let’s do this. And, it was fine. The drink was smooth, tasty and you could tell there was alcohol in it without wincing. And it came in a blue plastic glass. The menu is a mix of pub grub and a couple of more ambitious items. I went with the Cuban sandwich because Cuba is an island and left full and satisfied. Most of your options are things like Philly Cheese Steak, Hot Italian Hero and Buffalo Chicken Dip; all locations with heavy Polynesian influences. The tiki décor inside and out is actually fun. The photo op boards where you stick your face through immediately let you know it isn’t serious, but it is clear they’ve put some time and effort into the look of the place. A jet ski sits over the pool tables in the back beside the dart boards and other pub games. Three large TVs blare out sports for anyone seated at the bar and a digital juke box plays pop music by the small dance floor. Again, sports bar, not tiki bar. Not bad at all, but not a genuine Tiki Bar.

This bar recently got a visit from John Taffer and will be on Bar Rescue the show. I had very high hopes for this place! I visited here on February 5th with my boyfriend. I was really enjoying myself, the bartender, Matt, was very helpful and gave us quick service. My boyfriend and I were enjoying ourselves but we were maybe for a hour, not very long. The inside is smoke free, which is nice. Cons: I went to the restroom which wasn’t sparkling but not bad either. When I flushed the toilet I noticed it didn’t flush, so I held down the handle and it started to swirl but then I heard the other two or three toilets start to bubble. That tells me they have major plumbing issues that they’re ignoring. I payed on my phone to be able to play TouchTunes that they offer. After one song, while choosing my next song… They put on the radio. Why offer TouchTunes if you opt to play the radio on a Friday night!!! Overall, I probably won’t be back. Or I will wait to see if after this renovation they last for a year then maybe I’ll try again.

Been sitting here over 35 min waiting for a drink or food !! Still waiting. Just wish there was attention to some people who don’t know the bartender or the side line

Why is this place even open on any night besides the third Wednesday? If you enjoy empty bars with lame pay-to-play music, then this is definitely the place for you. Maybe I’m just not into the atmosphere-so-lame-we-play-bar-games-to-pass-the-time scene, but you can try it if you’d like.

One of the best places in North Pinellas to hang out. Someone said they don’t have food that’s a lie. We got food at 11:45pm and it was pretty good. Buffalo chicken salad and egg rolls. The egg roll sauce was awesome. They have restaurant food and not just bar food. U can smoke inside also. They have djs thu, fri and sat and drink specials pretty much any time we been in there. We go Thursday’s and Saturdays mainly. Thursday’s is all u can drink for ladies $ 7.

Me n my girls come here every Thursday for ladies night all you can drink. The dj on Saturday is one of the best I’ve ever heard. There is never a cover here when we come and they have drink specials every time we come. It’s a little smokey but we always have a good time and it doesn’t bother us much.

I had a blast hanging out with my friends here and it seemed like everyone else was having fun as well. But the reviews are true the Tiki does get freaky. There were certainly some interesting people here, but in my opinion, more power to them for enjoying themselves. Inside was really interesting. I really liked the bar and how its theme as well as the basketball game, the darts, and the other games that were in the back. I personally didn’t play the games but I thought it was cool they had them. The bartenders were fantastic as well. They did a great job in coming to you when you needed a refill and seemed to be friendly. I was a bit surprised how smoky it was considering how high the ceilings are. For those of you who don’t like they smoke, there is an outside patio that has plenty of spots to sit and relax and its covered so you don’t get rained on. My group had the sampler for an appetizer and I thought it was very good. The egg rolls and the poppers were delicious and the chicken tenders were ok. But over all, I have to say I would come back if my friends wanted to go. I wouldn’t go there by myself but I would definitely go there if I had a group of friends go with me.

There are some great Unilocal reviews for this place. It’s definitely a lil freaky and there is a tiki motif. It’s smokey, even inside. Interesting signage and décor. Definitely some characters here. We had fun dancing on a Saturday night and sat outside. It was interesting to visit with the inhabitants. The fried app plate we had was good. As far as whether it was zoo like, as one reviewer said, well. there is a photo setup where you can pose as a monkey by the entrance. Ooh oooh ooh. aah aah ahh.

Freaki Tiki is a great place to go and get a well made cocktail or ice cold beer for happy hour, they have great happy hour specials as well as a friendly attentive staff. It is rare for my beer to be empty before im being asked if I would like another one. They have a lot of flat screen tvs as well as a huge projection tv, I have never missed a game ive wanted to see while there. They also have a full menu for almost anyones taste. The menu is generally bar food with a few unique items that you wont find anywhere else, and the pizza is made from scratch down to the sauce. It is a smoking bar, but with the ceilings as high as they are and the ventilation system they have in place you can hardly tell. They also have a DJ every night and the nightly specials are always great. Such as «sink or swim» on friday nights, for $ 12 it is all you can drink 9pm til 2am, can’t find a better deal around. Definitely check out freaki tiki for a great night out or a nice happy hour place.

I wish this place was better because it’s close to home and would be nice to have somewhere decent to go without having to do st pete or tampa, but freaki tiki just isn’t up to par. They offer 2−4−1 drinks certain times during the week and $ 10 sink or swim wells on Friday. Not that I’m generally interested in indulging in «all you can drink cheap liquor» but some people might be into that. The clientele is a weird mix and I wouldn’t exactly say it’s the classiest bunch of people in here. Almost every time I have ever come here there are creepers hanging around trying to hit on any and every girl in there. Inside there are some different games and pool tables as well as a dance floor and outside are tables out on the deck. The music is ok. One good thing is they have $ 1.75 blue moon bottles after 9PM on Friday, which is a good price for that beer, but still not enough to keep me coming every weekend by any means. This place needs to make some serious overhauls for me to bump it up to 3 stars.

This place has really seemed to go downhill over the past couple years. The clientele gets worse and worse. Trailer Park trash now seems to frequent here and it’s a weird, yet prideful feeling being one of the select few patrons with all my teeth. In addition, Obese ghetto women wearing different types of animal print is not my idea of a good time. I felt like I was on a wild safari. I used to really like going here on Thurs. with a decent group of people, but nowadays I can’t pay any of my friends to come here with me.

Went there for a bite to eat and a drink. Amazing drink prices, especially during happy hour. Food was excellent, great quality. The staff was very friendly, as we’re the other customers. The owner even bought me a drink for being a new customer. Will be going back very soon!

Place has a cool theme to it but damn there is alot of underage people here. Thursday is teh best day 5 for 5 buckets, When you go Expect to see bar fights and other drama. The dartboards are old and the pool talbes are NASTY! Drink have been dumped on tehm for years. According to the local crowd this bar is the«we serve anyone no matter the age or how drunk they are» Place could do so much with the theme… to bad. I think they are just trying to keep there doors open.
