Growing up in Miami, every time I had to go to the court house I expected to be there for several hours because of the huge lines I would encounter at the metal detector station. So needless to say, I wasn’t thrilled when heading over to the Pinellas County Court house. I was expecting the same wait as in Miami and boy was I surprised. Not only for the super fast service, total of 15 mins(in and out) including the walk to and from my car, but I was super surprised that there was NOMETALDETECTORS before entering the building. That was a shocker, I swear I was prepared to hand my purse to the clerk at the counter so she can be assured that I came in peace… wow things are so different over here, in a good way of course. Anyhow, the clerk that did assist me(I was applying for my passport) was really helpful and friendly. I will definitely be coming back when I apply for my daughter’s passport.

The ‘original’ courthouse was built overnight in 1912 so that Clearwater could secure itself as a county seat. The one now standing was built in 1917 by Francis Kennard, using a classical revival style.
