Super 8 Clearwater / Us Highway 19 N

Okay here goes.
We were tired, haven driven almost 260 mi. We decided at 2 pm to drive further than originally planned. Big mistake.
At 4:30 pm, was hard to find place that had area to park RV, and would take a pet. Price was okay but charged us $ 15 extra for our pet. That would be okay but … we found the following:
1) toilet handle broken and I cut my finger on it trying to flush
2) Remote control back missing, batteries taped in place and kept getting loose so wouldnt work until pressed in with one hand while changing channels with the other hand.
3) Light bulbs missing in some fixtures
4) Lampshade was torn.
5) Instant coffee maker in room did not work properly.
Room was threadbare at best, although appeared clean. We had asked for a queen or king bed and he gave us 2 doubles although there was less than 30% of rooms occupied.
Only one dual plug near table so you could only have 2 items on the entire wall plugged in. Had to unplug microwave to plug in laptop.
Vending machines on bottom floor do not exist although sign exists. There is a ton of broken glass on one end of the walk way. Vending machines on second floor are broken.

When I asked the manager for 2 things, a light bulb for the fixture, and a back for the remote (things I thought could be cured in a few minutes), he had a kid bring it over. and I had to install it. No big deal I guess, but we found the fixture shade and the fixture were both broken which is why the bulb was removed.
I tried to be polite with him but he refused to acknowledge the less than average condition of the building.
The front desk clerk seemed to think that the only solution was to move us. So I said fine, please send some one to move all of our things (as my husband is disabled). Nope. He could not do that either.
I suggest you avoid this place. If we had known it was going to be so warm tonight, we probably would have just slept in our RV (not really useable at the moment but bed was made!).

This hotel was disgusting. We were in Clearwater for a wedding and the wonderful bride booked this place as a «thank you» for coming all the way to Florida for her big day. I couldnt bare to tell her how awful this hotel was kept. Honestly, I too would have expected more from a large chain like Super 8. I cant express how nasty this place felt, i couldnt even walk barefooted in the room or sleep under the sheets. Our room had busted up old furniture (which i can handle) but the filth i could not. On top of that they never had fresh towels or even small amenities like one would expect (soap, coffee, cups, etc). Do not stay here… i repeat DO NOT STAY HERE. Keep researching good deals on hotels, do not stop at this place.

Staff is kool but the hotel in a word. Poor. Broken fixtures in the room, beds are old and soft. TV was small. Cracks and holes in the walls. I could go on. My recommendation only stay here if you have no other choice.

We’d stayed here for a night earlier this year, no problems.
Tonight, We tried putting four people in a «single»…with two queen beds. Two queen beds means, 4 people, a little tight, but it gets the job done. This idiot kicks us out.
I tell him, if the police search every room, they’ll find prostitution, drugs of all kinds, and he wants to bug out over a slight break in protocol…
I said they wanted to shower there… he gave us the boot. So he can suck my nuts.
