This place is alright. Loved the live music; really gave it a good feel outside. Enjoyed the Unilocal special of 50% off your first three local drafts. We chose cigar city Jai Alai and it was delicious. Didn’t try any of the food, but man did it smell great! The fries look amazing, but again I didn’t taste them. Outside bar staff very friendly. Some more attentive than others… Bar was consistently busy throughout this Saturday night. People seemed to enjoy the music, that’s for sure! I’ll have to come back and try the food when I’m actually hungry.

This place is huge. They have the weather to sustain the large outdoor bar and dinning area. Not something we get to enjoy year round up in DC. There are two stories inside consisting of about five other bars. I talked to the bar tender and she said the inside bars facilitate a club Friday and through the weekend. The food is really good as well. I tried the chicken club sandwich. One of the other bar tenders offered to get me jalapeños to kick it up a bit. It’s a must have.

This place is popping with the after work crowd in the area! Met up with a few coworkers for some beers and I was a bit surprised at the amount of people here. Nice bar area outside with live music. The bartenders inside and outside that served us were very attentive and smiley! I love happy bartenders! We stayed outside after ordering one beer from inside. It was too crowded inside to try and find a table and it was also really dark. We were lucky enough to grab a few seats at the bar outside. Droves of people everywhere lol. Very loud, kind of hard to hear people you are talking to. Their website lists their nightly specials and events. Wed. Trivia night sounds fun! I haven’t had the chance to try the food or specialty cocktails yet but definitely want to!

I came here with a group on Friday after their happy hour crowd dissipated. The very large space was scarce with people while we were in there and the band was playing to an empty room. Because of the location next to Feather Sound, I know it’s a big after-work type place, but I was still surprised how dead it was. I was hungry and I haven’t eaten at this Yard of Ale before and I wasn’t really expecting too much, but I pleasantly surprised with my food. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger expecting your typical bar type burger, but I was so wrong. This burger was killer. I ordered it medium and it was probably the best cooked burger I’ve had in a long time. The whole patty was medium throughout except for the nice crust and char on the outside. The bread was a buttered brioche and the bacon was thick and cooked perfectly. For $ 8, I was stoked. The bartenders here were all super friendly and the manager was nice enough to stop by our table to see how we were doing. It’s a really cool space with friendly staff and awesome food, so I’ll make sure to come here more often.

I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars with this place. The food was delicious and I love the décor of the place, however, the servers were discombobulated and I mean all of them. We walk in to be seated and the hostess ask us if we want to be seated. Well, yes. She then seats us and ask if we would like anything to drink. We order our drinks. Wait, where’s our menus? I ask a server passing if we can some menus. The hostess comes back around and apologizes and hands us menus. We are ready to order. We wait. We ask another server in passing if we can order. Again, some other server comes and apologizes and takes our order. I’m giving this place 4 stars because the servers were really nice and took care of us… it just felt a bit disorganized. Perhaps all the servers were new? Anyways, the food was delicious and I will come back.

My family was hungry and I was very thirsty(for beer) after driving in from Orlando, and since my wife & I were celebrating our anniversary I did a quick browse for«beer restaurant» on Unilocal and found this establishment. I’ll be honest, ONE word that caught my attention was«GASTROPUB» as I explained & sold to my wife the concept of Gastropubs. When you see Gastropub one expects high quality beer(woohoo for me) and high quality food(woohoo for my wife and the 8 other family members that was with us). The 3.5 stars on Unilocal and a quick browse on reviews said«go for it» especially since I was pulled in by the promise of more than 50 beer choices and great food. As I pulled in to park and walked into the place everything looked promising. The ambiance felt great as we were seated and we were even offered a round of Irish Whiskey on the house. I thought to myself«Score!» However, that was as good as it would get. To make a long story short, my wife had their Fish & Chips which looked«cool» served in a deep fryer basket looking dish. The fries were soggy and the fish was bland… she had to get help from tartar sauce which she had to ask for and very likely, squirted from a 1.99 bottle. I got a meatball sandwhich which I had to season with a lot of pepper & salt on top of the hot sauce I poured over it to get some kind of flavor. Everyone wasn’t happy with the food at all. In fact, I saw malt vinegar being poured on their seared mahi-mahi in the hopes to have some flavor in it. So to summarize, though this place claimes to be a Gastropub, it’s far from the truth. Well, let me actually say, they’re 50% there. They got the high quality beer part(thus the 2 stars) but definitely not the food.

Why 5 stars? Because I had one of my favorite seafood dishes ever. — — — I don’t believe I have ever had Mahi Mahi until my experience at YOA, and I don’t know what took me so long! I’m not sure if the fish in general is just this good, or if it was YOA’s version… but wow. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was a more firm fish… like a seafood steak, and boy howdy do I love steak. The rice pilaf, asian slaw, and mango salsa was an absolutely perfect compliment to the dish as well. Finally, YOA is a really cool(GIANT) venue, with a great beer selection. Definitely a great addition to the Feathersound area!

I have been to Yard of Ale three times now and I can only think of two words to describe it: overpriced and underwhelming. The two stars are mostly for the space itself and the décor. I REALLY wanted to love Yard of Ale. The décor and space is awesome. I have explored the entire place and it has lots of nooks and crannies to hang out and relax. They also have some great beer on tap, but at ridiculous prices. At 30 years old maybe I am out of their target audience. I think they have good beer, but tend to lead the focus towards the cheaper crappier beer that college kids are more inclined to drink. The food at Yard of Ale is described by the same two words: overpriced and underwhelming. I had sampling bites at a Unilocal event that I was not impressed with, but we wanted to try the food as a paying costumer. We were seated at a table RIGHT beside eight teenage girls. The entire place was almost empty, so I don’t know why we had to sit on top of other patrons. We spent most of our meal listening to the creepy waiter flirting with the girls. We browsed over the small menu for a few minutes and both ended up ordering a brisket sandwich. The sandwich arrived with NO sauce. The brisket was somewhat processed looking(it did not look like brisket you order at a BBQ restaurant). It was served with fries that were good, but still just fries. The entire meal was just«meh» at best. We departed not feeling full or happy and not really wanting to return. I also would not call Yard of Ale a Gastro Pub at all. Other than the fact that they are a bar that serves food, they have no claim to the«Gastro Pub» title that is being thrown around like crazy nowadays. I do not recommend Yard of Ale.

From what I’ve experienced about this place so far, it’s awesome. I sampled their mac n cheese at Unilocal Around the World, then returned the next day as a regular customer and ordered the Nutty Goat Cheese Salad. My mom followed suit, ordering grilled chicken on top of hers. Superb! We were full off of that alone. As I am still on a budget, I chose this dish because it was one of the under $ 10 options. I wish they had more, but most other things jumped to above $ 10 after that. I no longer drink but their beer selection is probably what draws people in and is a vast one!

Love this venue and I wish I could trade this one with the South Tampa location that is walking distance from my home. It is more spacious and I love the bar upstairs. This is the second time I have been here in a month and definitely plan to go back soon. I was here today for the Unilocal Around the World event and the Yard of Ale staff and bartenders were very pleasant and courteous. My first time here, we sat at the bar and I had a couple of Foggy Mules, Yard of Ale’s take on the Moscow Mule. It was very refreshing and if I didn’t have to drive, I probably would have had a couple more! We had the Grilled Chicken Flatbread and the Charcuterie Board, which were both delicious. Hopefully, in the near future I will be back in order to try more of the food and drinks.

Original plans were to go to another place, but after checking out the reviews for that destination, I chose YoA based on what Unilocal had to say. While the rain poured down outside, we were escorted inside to a really neatly designed back wall area that looked like a whisky cask. The only issue with this wall is that the sound reverberated/echoed off of it, making it much more amplified. NOT the best thing when you want to have a conversation with your date. It took 10 minutes after we were seated for our drink orders to be taken. I can forgive that, based on the food we were served. Our starters were French Onion soup, Oysters and a shrimp chipolte flat bread: Everything was served quickly and all the flavors were so well developed. When we got our mains, we had a nutty goat cheese salad and snapper. Serving sizes were pretty generous and the food was DAMN tasty. The Goat Cheese salad had the goat cheese medalions were lightly battered and deep fried, making it taste warm and melty. The dressing on the salad was glorious. We even ordered dessert, Profiteroles and Crème Brulee! So rich and decadent. I couldn’t finish mine at all.

I was glad to see this location quickly reopen from the all blue thing that was here before. Beer and food, what could go wrong? Nothing in my opinion. The seem to have a handle on how to do both well. Toss in a little Tampa sun and a nice patio and you have a winner. I chose a Cigar City IPA to go with one of their burgers(Aurora Burger). The burger had a stand alone quality of texture and flavor. The toppings just sealed the deal. The service is friendly and professional. They also have a giant outdoor Jenga set. I simply have to try that. The menu has plenty more to choose from, so I am sure I will return.
