G. F. Bowman

Wow. Nothing but 5 star ratings. Someone’s doing a little editing I think. My experience was shocking: I was charged $ 726 to fix a leaky water pipe, which included a $ 69 service charge. The plumber was at my house for two hours. (Do the math on his hourly rate.) It was the day before Thanksgiving. I’d had to turn the water off to stop the leak. I’d called several plumbers; I guess I lucked out that Bowman was available. It was fixed, I was told. But two days later, the pipe was leaking again! I called Bowman, expecting immediate assistance given what I was charged. I had to arrange to coverage at work so I could stay home and wait for the plumber. Three hours later, another Bowman guy showed up. He was here about 15 minutes. I could hear him in the basement talking on the phone to the original plumber who’d done the work, telling him he should’ve done something different with the pipe. When he was done, I told him I expected an adjustment on my bill. He gave me Gary’s name at the main office. I called Gary and explained my frustration. He said he’d review the bill and call me back. I knew I was being placated by his tone. When he did call back, he said, «These things happen» and offered me a credit of $ 69 for future Bowman services! As if I’d ever use Bowman again! I told Gary I’d lost more than $ 69 in salary waiting for a plumber to fix a $ 726 job. He then gave me a $ 69 credit on my card and again, «These things happen.»
Bowman had an opportunity to make a frustrated customer more satisfied and feel that her time was valuable (ok, I don’t make $ 300/​hr like a plumber) and offer a more substantial credit. Instead, I was insulted and dismissed. I have to wonder if I was a man, would I have been charged so much and treated this way?

I’ve been a Bowman customer for years and am thoroughly pleased. Three months ago Mike F. serviced my heat pump and, as my electric water heater was 26 years old, I asked him for a quote to replace it. Last week I was finally ready to have the work done, and two days after my call Mike installed it, and for the exact price quoted! Prompt and friendly service, great quality work, and a trusted and professional contractor — can’t beat it!

I have used G.F. Bowman twice. Once for plumbing and another time for A/​C service. Both times the customer service to schedule the appointment was handled extremely well. you don’t find that very often. And both times the technicians, Phil and Tom were professional and explained everything that they were doing and cleaned up as well. Highly recommend using G.F. Bowman

This was the first time I’ve had my A/​C serviced by this company. I was very pleased with how thorough they were. They checked things the prior service company didn’t (like check the temperature in my return air ducts inside the house).
The technician also made sure he explained everything to me and was sincerely interested in making sure I understood everything. Asked me numerous times if I had any questions, etc.
Very pleased and will definitely continue with them in the future.

Mike arrived on time, was friendly and professional. All work was thoroughly explained and a price quoted before the work started! My first time working with the company and I am now a customer! They will replace the local company that I was using!
