This is one of the few shops where you can bring ANY electronic device for repair. The owner doesn’t charge a fortune to diagnose items(like every other ‘Geek Repair’, shop etc.). There’s no ‘well, you need to buy a new system’ or ‘we charge $ 125 diagnostic fee’ nonsense. No fixing things by trial & error, either. I’ve brought 5 devices in over the years, incl. 3 tablets & never paid more than $ 125 for any repair, regardless of the complexity, When my master computer crashed & a ‘timed’ virus had gotten to my back-ups as well, I was frantic. I had almost a half-Tb of irreplaceable info at risk(Pre-Cloud era), Not only did A to Z recover 95% of my data, they upgraded my system to the more secure 64-bit Windows. Another time I tried one of those ‘Microsoft Gold’ registry ‘cleaners’ that wrecked my system. It had removed some vital parts of my system, causing it to loop & barring me from logging on, He got in, removed the ‘approved’ nonsense, restored my OS, then cleaned the registry of all the bits n pieces left from other programs without damaging any good ones. The young man warned me to stay away from ALL commercial registry cleaners unless there was good reason & also gave me a complete clean copy of the registry for future use. I learned ANY program could put the Microsoft logo on it simply by taking a cheap on-line course. The logo was pure BS — it didn’t mean a program was any good or useful, much less safe.(Some of the worst malware sports that logo: when I checked w/Microsoft the tech was right: they do not back any program not made 100% by themselves. All other software is strictly ‘at your own risk’ according to them.) The store isn’t fancy — you walk in & there are all sorts of devices in various stages of repair(usually awaiting parts or pickup). The store does NOT smell — except for some ozone on occasion. I couldn’t care less. All that matters to me is that my equipment is fixed right the first time & I don’t get ripped off in the process. I trust A to Z to fix my electronic gear & I trust their advice.
