I have given this place 3 chances. First time, the bartender cared more about their friends than new faces. Second time, quiet and empty, but pleasant. Third was tonight. When we walked in the door some guy with a shot glass around his neck said the bar was closed because of a private party. What bar closes for a private party on a Saturday? By the way, there was no sign indicating so. His lady friend became belligerent and literally pushed our group out the door. Too bad. I was hoping to support a local bar.

Went there on a Saturday night and it was fairly crowded. My group of 4 grabbed a table and the bartender/server came right over to check on us. Bar is fairly long and extends far to the back on the building. In the other side of the wall across from the bar, there were about 8ish tables, mini bowling and the restrooms. The place was very clean and the drinks were absolutely perfect. The Moscow Mules were delicious and served in a proper copper cup. On tap for entertainment was a TouchTunes jukebox and some televisions in the bar. Would rate this bar a solid 4. Would have given a 5 star if, once they got super packed around 1am, the bartender was overwhelmed. She did, however, keep her composure. Completely impressed me. Great little upscale dive bar.

The Black Forest Tavern is an inconspicuous little dive bar that looks like it’s closed when you drive by. The beers are cheap and the bartender is very welcoming. It’s supposedly the oldest bar in South Euclid and looks like it hasn’t changed its interior since the 60s. The bartender told me that what is now the bar used to be a diner and the basement used to be a speakeasy during prohibition. You have to park on the side street or across the street at giant eagle if you drive there. Highly recommended.
