Avoid at all possible cost! Our simple master bathroom re-​design has been a nightmare. We thought this would be simple and easy since we weren’t moving plumbing or moving walls. We should have known there was going to be a problem when they asked to start two months earlier than we wanted since they were running out of work. They started beginning of December and just finished end of February. Came to us for more money since they couldn’t make payroll before Christmas, so we gave them more money despite the fact that little progress had been made on the bathroom. Took two weeks off over Christmas and New Year’s but promised us they would, «knock it out,» when they returned. We asked for infloor heating to run under the shower pain. They said it wasn’t possible. (FYI: It is possible.) The tile installer worked 4 hour days when he could show up. When the tile was finished, they installed the cheapest looking sink and the wrong faucets. When they finally installed a better sink with the right faucets, the drawers in the vanity wouldn’t fit. The bathroom floor was supposed to be sloped towards the shower pan so that water doesn’t sit on the floor but it isn’t sloped so the water sits until it dries. We asked for mirrored closet doors to be installed and was shocked to come home to find a huge soffit built over the closet opening with mammoth doors hung. It took space from an already small bedroom. They said they would take it down and do it the way we wanted for a small fee if we didn’t like it. Expected cost of the closet doors alone $ 6,000.00! We had them removed before they were completed and now on our bill it shows the «fee» for that and all of their mistakes as a «courtesy.» The final invoice arrived with a late fee and finances charges. No where in the letter of agreement were these spelled out. Their late fee is arbitrary based on what they feel like charging and their finance charge is 78% APR! I could get a better rate from a credit card or a loan shark and better work from Lowe’s or Home Depot.
