Cleveland Public Library – Jefferson

What a cute little branch! I was so excited to discover this just around the corner from my apartment.
One star docked because as others have noted, this location is pretty noisy for a library. It’s very close to two schools, so it’s often filled to the brim with kids & teens, which makes it pretty loud. That said, if you’re there at other times or on the weekends, it’s decently quiet. Not much space to settle in, though, if you need to work on a laptop or anything like that; better to head to Civilization or Loop nearby for coffee & more space.
That said, I’ve always found the staff here to be friendly, & small though it may be, it’s a perfect place to tap into the Cleveland Public Library system. Even though they may not have a ton of materials on-​hand because of space constraints, that can get anything from any of the other branches fairly quickly. And of course, signing up for a library card means you can also take advantage of online materials like Kindle loans.
Stop wasting your money on Amazon. Check out your local library — & if you end up having to pay fines, just consider it a donation to a vital social service!

The library is in a convenient location for tremont residents. However, it is not the place if you’re looking for a place to study. The staff seems bored and fills their time socializing with each other without considering that they’re in a library. There a minimal tables to spread out and children are left unattended which can be a bit of annoyance.

This library is a wonderful asset to Tremont! I like to order books with the app and pick them up. The librarians are really nice and like to talk about the books with you if they have read them. Sometimes I print things for 10 cents. Once I rented some CDs and took them on a road trip that lasted all summer. I mailed them the CDs back so they weren’t over due. That worked fine. This is a good place to get books but not the kinda place you sit and read at. Walk to a coffee shop for that.

When people complain about the price of Netflix or talk about having to go to Redbox, I see it as a perfect opportunity to share my love for the Public Library.
This location is great, it offers a good mix of books, movies, fiction/​nonfiction, few computers to use, and a few tables to use a laptop and use the free wifi. The staff is always willing to lend a helping hand, look for a book, reserve something for future use, or recommend a new read.
I do feel the need to report on a few downsides… The size of the location is bit to small, it can feel quite claustrophobic if there are a ton of people there. The Kids, relating a bit off the size is the annoyance factor of the children who are there. usually not being supervised by their parents. and simply running around the library screeching. And finally the creepy as shit security guards. they are quite possible the most awkward/​rude people I’ve seen in my life, they try to keep it running smoothly however they do it with a bit of a hard edge.
