Edgewater State Park

Pretty excellent place to go running, to be next to the Lake and for stunning views of Cleveland from Upper Edgewater.
The cleanliness of the beach and park is exponentially improved since the Cleveland Metroparks took over management of the space two years ago.
During the summer months Edgewater Live is a fun weekly event with incredible turnout. Best to walk/​bike here rather than driving: lots fill quickly and getting out after a big event appears to be time consuming.

My family and I stopped by (for the first time) to Edgewater Live, last night. First of all, I’ve got to say that the grounds (park and beach) have significantly improved since I was there last year. The grass is well maintain, and the beach sand is nice too. Water may be a different story, but that will never change. Anyways, I was so happy to see that Cleveland is using this park now how they are with Edgewater live — it’s about time! From all the food trucks to beer tent (which they need more i.e. Great Lakes and other local Brewers there, it was truly a great and affordable time. Definitely will look to go again soon.

I stop in on my rides through our fair city and just kinda take in the sites.
Sunny Summer days here with a blanket, music and hydration to catch some sun is a GREAT idea!!!

Edgewater has changed since I was a little girl. I still remebered when you had to drive on the edge of the road when you was on the top part and had to look for parking.
Today with all the events that go on down there, it has drawn a lot of people from everywhere and is a great place to just go and be stress free.
I wish my husband still had his 29 ft boat docked at whiskey island, I enjoyed being down the on the boat just laying enjoying myself.

It’s not the busiest part of the season, yet – but I will say I can already see a major beginning-​of-​the-​season improvement from last year. Thank you, Metroparks!
The beaches are fully raked and there aren’t nearly as many gross parts. I’d say that’s enough to be happier. But let’s just see how the water quality is once we really get into summer.

I suppose this place is ok for Cleveland. I mean I cant expect super high quality sand in the Midwest, right? But something that DID bother me a lot when I was tanning was the little floating cotton like thing early in the summer. It was nasty. they literally invaded the entire beach like bio weapon, and then they just stick to your body cuz your sweating under the sun. The next weekend we went, there was some major water pollution. we saw BLACK water padding the shore, and we could smell it too. That was bad. SO, don’t go there if you see water pollution report, and try to go in the mid/​late summer so you dont have to deal with those annoying cotton things in the air.

I like edgewater park. Mostly for the lower part of it. As said before it does tend to get trashy. The upper area fills up every weekend with families and reunions and parties. The lower has a nice .90 mile track, which is why I’m normally there. Two snack bar type places, never been. Park closes at 11p. Police are on it like a mofo, I’ve been stopped several times. So be careful.

Beautiful views of the city, nature, sunset, and total kooks all over the place. I love swimming here but do heed the water advisories. Do you think I really want to swim in poop water after it storms and the ewer overflow, well, overflows? No way Jose. My friends and I have been going to Edgewater for a lot of years and in the last three of so it seems to have exploded in popularity. Hey guys, did you know Lake Erie is in Cleveland?!
From what I understand, there is a new funding structure and management shift that is already making the beach and park look sooooo much cleaner and more inviting. The lake is a priceless asset and it deserves to be cared for. Honey Hut and the ice cream place by the pier make this a destination for times when you don’t want to swim all day as well, plus the pavilions on the upper and lower levels, the walking/​biking loop, play ground, and even sledding in the winter are lovely.

Really nice place to stop and look out on Lake Erie. It looks more like an ocean though. On a nice day it’s probably beautiful… but we stood on the shores in December… yeah gloomy and cold.
I can imagine this place being great in the summer months.
