I have to agree with the other reviewers here: I just didn’t have a good experience with Dr. Lim at Forest Hills Vision Center. Their office(at Cedar Fairmount) was in a dank basement that had recently suffered some water damage. I had to wait a very long time in their waiting room, long past the scheduled time of my appointment. The exam itself was fine, and I was happy with my prescription — although I did get the impression that Dr. Lim was more interested in referring me to an eye surgeon for LASIK(something that was never followed up on by them). I found a pair of glasses that I liked and ordered them. When they came about a week later, I began noticing that they didn’t have the anti-reflective coating I had ordered on them. Their optician figured this out, too, and called me a few days later, so I had to go back in, and she actually wanted to take my glasses and frames back from me to have new lenses made! That would have left me blind! Dr. Lim mercifully intervened, and sent another pair of frames to fit the new lenses. So I went back a third time when the new lenses came in, and because the optician couldn’t get my frames open to put the new lenses in, we just swapped frames. The new frames, despite being«identical,» just never quite fit right — the nose pads were different than the ones I traded in, and I could just never get comfortable in them. And the antireflective coating wore off faster than it had with past lenses I’ve had. Whoever they are using to make their glasses, it’s definitely not a top-notch facility. I was willing to think that this series of misadventures was just dumb luck, but after reading the other reviews here, it seems to be part of an amateurish, unprofessional pattern. If you have to go here, it could be worse; if you don’t, I would say look elsewhere.

I went to Dr. Lim’s office because it was close to my house, and they were in my insurance network. I was excited about supporting an independent business too! Unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory, and I will not be returning, nor recommending them to anyone. I didn’t get good vibes the moment I sat down with the doctor, but I couldn’t pinpoint why, so I gave him a fair chance. The equipment is old, which I could excuse because I’m sure for an independent doctor, it can be quite expensive to purchase. But what I couldn’t excuse is how he spoke to me like I hadn’t worn contacts for 12 years. Or how he pushed me into getting a different type of lens than I usually wore, and then how his staff gave me a hard time when I wanted to switch back to my original type of lens. I decided that I wanted to buy more contacts online, rather than go through Dr. Lim’s office. Of course, they gave me a hard time about confirming my prescription(I should’ve just faxed it to the website). I called the office, and spoke with a staff person about ordering them online. She said that Dr. Lim would match the online price for the contacts I was ordering. I asked about being provided with a trial pair of lenses in the meantime, because I was totally out. Apparently, unless I order contacts through Dr. Lim’s office, they refuse to give out a trial pair. I guess they forgot that I(& my insurance) paid for my eye exam, contact fitting, and initial 6 boxes of lenses I ordered the first time I went to their office. I wasn’t keen on working with Dr. Lim’s office ever again, so I looked around and tried to schedule an exam elsewhere, but since my insurance wouldn’t cover another exam yet, I decided to just go ahead and deal ONELASTTIME with Dr. Lim. So, I checked the price again online, and found the contacts for $ 19.95/box — and that’s the price if you DON’T buy in bulk. I called Dr. Lim’s office back, and told the staff(it was a different woman this time) the price I found. Their price — $ 32.00/box!!! I also asked again about a trial pair of lenses in the meantime. The staff person said she’d check with the doctor and call me back. When she called, she told me that Dr. Lim could NOT match that price. When I asked why, she just repeated the same thing. Then I asked if I could at least have a trial pair of lenses(you know, since he couldn’t match the price like they said he would), and they said again, that unless I order them through his office, they can’t give me a trial pair. !!! I said, «But I tried to order them through you, and you wouldn’t match the price,» at which point she said, «You can still order them through us, but you’d have to pay $ 32.00/box.» Worst customer service ever. The LEAST they could have done was give me 1 pair of lenses since they couldn’t price match. I will not be back. Ever.

ABSOLUTELYTHEWORST. DONOTGOHERE. SHOULDBEOUTOFBUSINESS. They just moved to the Cedar Fairmount area, as did I. The office was in my healthcare plan’s network and they were accepting new patients so I gave Dr. Lim and his staff a try. Here’s why they need to be avoided: I waited over an hour to be seen at my first appointment without apology. They don’t accept checks, but have no signs that say so! Was looking for a new contact lens that wasn’t a monthly disposable: I tried on CIBA dailies and they were uncomfortable so DR Lim ordered Acuvue 1-Day. When I went to pick up, they had ordered the CIBA instead so they had to re-order(and I needed to come back, again). Then, Dr. Lim tried to convince me to take a lesser prescription that I could honestly not see out of(I know I was reading the chart incorrectly!!!); he told me «you do not need perfect vision everyday» and that I would get headaches if I stuck with my current prescription strength. Seriously? The office manager wrote out the script, not even the DR. First time she wrote it, it was incorrect. Told visiondirect that I was not a patient when they called to confirm my script. Billed my insurance for a «problem» visit instead of «routine». This place is a nightmare, the staff is incompetent and treats patients like they’re a huge burden instead of the lifeblood of the business. I wish I had strapped on an undercover camera any of the four times I went to the office or called the office in these past two months. It would make for an entertaining train-wreck of a reality show.
