This is a wonderful, public, glass studio and teaching facility on the(relatively) near East side of Cleveland. I started off with a groupon class; and decided that I loved it so much I would start taking regular classes there. The owners are wonderful; they are responsive, relaxed, and make the studio a great environment. The teachers are truly talented and they make glass blowing accesible. I have taken several class session at the studio(each one is 8 weeks long) and I have truly learned a lot. It’s a quirky environment, tucked in an older«warehouse» style building. The jukebox plays as you are learning to push, pull, blow and shape your way to expressing your artistic glory(and sometimes your artistic flops). It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. If you are considering checking out the studio, definitely do it. Know that the groupon classes are very introductory and just give you a small chance to experience glass blowing…

We visited the studio during the Unilocal Elite party last month. It was by far one of the funnest Unilocal events I went to yet! The owner and the instructors are super nice and you can tell are very enthusiastic about what they do. We got to make our own glass pieces, which we can pick up later and keep. I never made anything out of glass before so it was fascinating! They also have some very interesting and unique pieces for sale.

I have been to a few different glass studios for classes now and this was by far my favorite. The instructors were fantastic and extremely patient. They keep the classes in a reasonable size so everyone gets plenty of time and doesn’t feel rushed and they allowed us to get creative with our pieces. The studio is beautifully kept, spacious and organized. Well done, J & C! I hope to return soon.

I went to a glass blowing party at J & C last night, February 22nd. Enjoyed it! Hot hot hot room. The staff was very helpful. On groupon, the party is $ 40, you get dinner, drinks & make one piece. I recommend it! Thinking about signing up for one of their classes.

I have attended 2 or 3 mini classes now and they have all been awesome. The staff are as helpful and hands on as you need but do not do it all for you. They review and teach as they go. Lots of fun.

I went to the glassblowing party and had a great time. I got a basic overview of the process and was able to make my own decorative flower — with no prior knowledge of glassblowing. Beverages /pizza /sandwiches /pre-loaded jukebox were provided, their art glass is available to peruse or purchase, and all of the employees were so nice /helpful /social. It was fun to do in a group but would also make a great date or outing with a friend.

If you are looking to try something new and you haven’t been able to find anything«interesting» enough or you just don’t know of anything, look no further than J and C Glass Studio in Cleveland. The amazingly friendly instructors and staff as well and the immaculate facilities just add to the enjoyment of learning to shape and blow glass objects. It is one of the best experiences I have had and now I am hooked. I guarantee that it will be worth your time.

I needed a hobby. I wanted something impressive and unique and when the groupon came up for half off of a glass-blowing party I knew it was meant for me. Sadly, I really really sucked at it. But… it’s also really really fun. I had an absolute blast at J and C studios. The studio has been open for about a year and their goal is to spread glass blowing to the masses. SO far it looks like they’re doing a good job. There was about fifty people at this party, tons of free booze and food and a juke box with credit already added on it. Everything was included in the price. As soon as you walk in a table of handmade glasses greets you and you pick which one suits your lifestyle and want to drink wine out of. Everyone was super friendly and after a quick demonstration you get started making either a paperweight or a flower. I chose a flower. Make sure you sign up early though because I got there late and went at the very end(about four hours later). However, while waiting you can look at pieces from the different artists(all very reasonably priced) or explore the studio. There really wasn’t anything off limits. Overall it was a blast and my friends and I are actually looking into throwing a private party. The more people you have the cheaper the party is. They also said that with a private party the lessons can be more inclusive and there’s a chance to make more unique objects.

Big Win. This last Sunday, I participated in the 88 dollar three hour introductory glass blowing class and I was«blown» away hardy harr harr. The studio was very nice and the staff was excellent. I didn’t expect the noms to be nearly as delicious as they were which was also an excellent surprise. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly without being pushy. I made a glass flower that more closely resembled a creature from Aliens 3 then Georgia O’Keeffe, but I enjoyed the process and this is really what matters. This studio would make an excellent date spot as the activity is novel, hands-on, and beer and wine are offered for social lubrication. All and all, I support this event and the mission of this studio. It should be added to the list of Cleveland gems to be discovered.
