Mitchell’s Fine Candies

A friend had recommended going here, I was in the neighbors so gave it a try. Nice people working there, but, I found absolutely nothing special about this place. In fact, the chocolates (individual pieces) I ordered were pretty much flavorless and not creamy or smooth (as they should be from a «fine chocolate shop»). I am sure they have a loyal following… I will stick with Malleys who are consistently fresh, flavorful and mouth-​melting addicting.

I have been to France, Greece and other parts of Europe and no one competes with Mitchell’s dark chocolate fine chocolates. I started eating their wonderful candy when they were located on Euclid hts Blvd next to the coventry theatre back in the 70’s.Mrs.Mitchell was always very knowledgable and informative about chocolate they home made. She always encouraged me to try new pieces. I am solo glad she did. I especially love the hand dipped apricots and cherries. The Turtles and truffles are equally delicious along with everything else dark chocolate in the store. Their son, Bill, has kept up their fine quality and tradition. They ship world wide. This is the best kept secret in Cleveland, Ohio Try it, you won”‘t be disappointed!!!

I grew up going to this chocolate shop and it’s my go-​to whenever I come home to visit family. I want nothing but two-​toned truffles all the time. The best chocolate.

When reading this review, please sing the following line aloud «Pour Some Sugar On Me»!!! This place is chock full of guilty pleasure sinfully delicious hand crafted chocolate sensations. The chocolate’s richness and flavor goes far beyond the «mall chocolate» that I grew up with.
I have always been a bit of a milk chocolate junkie, and once you add the always appreciated pairing of a candied cherry, truffle filling, or salty caramel filling… It just doesn’t get much better than this! Or so I thought.
After speaking with Bill Mitchell, the man behind this chocolate empire I was swayed to give their dark chocolate a try.
this was not the bitter dark chocolate of my past, no ma’am this was the darkly delightful chocolate of my future! The melt in your mouth goodness is undeniable and the huge selection of treats is nothing short of fabulous!
The only reasons that knock this review down to four enthusiastic stars are:
1) The business closes a 6pm. This guy likes his chocolate after dinner.
2) This chocolate is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. It is worth every penny, but this is not the chocolate that you would share with your kids, unless you are really into them.
I say go ahead and treat yourself to something a little more extraordinary the next time you are seeking the ultimate chocolate craving stopper!

Fine candies is somewhat of a misleading name. I have been there multiple times and have only found chocolates. Good chocolates, lots of varieties. But the problem is the expense of it.
These are not your penny-​store chocolates. We are talking over twenty greenbacks per pound. All in all a good gift of chocolate, but too rich for my blood. (As far as chocolates go).
But dont get me wrong, the chocolates are amazingly delicious.
