When entering Mitchell’s Ice cream shop, you’ll immediately be greeted with an aroma of sweet fresh baked waffle cones and sugar in the air; so be prepared that you’ll start salivating right when you enter. I finally went on the tour, it’s really one large room to see, but they do go into the thorough explanation as to how their ice cream is made and all of their procedures that separate them apart from their competition. Their quality is on par with Häagen-Dazs. And they explain a bit about the family, the local location and local distributors. The art around the shop is by the Mother of the owners, Bea Mitchell. Cute place, excellent location, and most fabulous cookies and cream ever!

I’ve been here twice so far. It’s very clean and spacious. The small seating room on the left when you first come in is nice for those who want a little more privacy. This time around I got the raspberry sorbet. It was good, but I don’t see what all the hype is about. I also tried the toasted pistachio before and wasn’t a huge fan. I wish they had more unique flavors. Maybe I’m just more of a frozen yogurt person.

Yes! Best ice cream in Cleveland. Tons of delicious sounding, unique flavors. I had the tarimisu, which I believe is seasonal, but I definitely recommend it if it’s available! I went on a Wednesday night in Jan at like 9pm and it was packed, so I imagine this place gets pretty crazy in warmer months or on weekends.

I don’t go around handing out five star reviews to just anyone. Mitchell’s makes outstanding ice cream, both vegan and traditional. The chocolate vegan ice cream, me from coconut milk, is dense, rich, and basically perfect. Occasionally it has a weird gritty texture, I’m not sure why. My current obsession is a tasters duo of one scoop turtle brownie, one scoop GLBC Xmas ale ginger snap. It satisfies all requirements for texture, sweet, salty, cold, a little crunchy, a little chewy.

Great concept of a two-story ice cream shop in their ice cream factory. The ice cream certainly tastes homemade and the flavors they come up with are always worth a try. The only flavor that I didn’t care for was the Christmas Ale ice cream. Way too heavy and decadent for my taste. The staff have the patience of Job with no one being able to make a quick decision. There’s just too many good choices.

Really good! Has some yummy chunks within, and I enjoyed the texture, but more so the flavours. You can see them making it through the glass behind the counter and the kids corner that Bek and I had a lot of fun drawing at haha. Lovely little place

I was introduced to Mitchell’s a few years ago and I have never gone back. Mitchell’s ice cream is a gem of a shop. All the ice cream is home made and this particular Mitchell’s has the little factory on the inside that you can see through the glass behind the counter. The store is huge. The lines are always wrapping out the door, that’s how popular this place is. I’ve tried a few things from Mitchell’s, my favorite has to be the mint dark chocolate chunk ice cream. What I like about it is that there are nice big chunks of dark chocolate in the ice cream AND the ice cream isn’t dyed green. It’s plenty minty without being overbearing. I usually like to get the ice cream in a sundae with hot fudge and extra whipped cream. I love their whipped cream and would totally buy a canister of it and eat it in one sitting. I love ice cream and Mitchell’s is the place to be for ice cream.

Delicious ice cream — environment is friendly… little loud but not too bad. I had an ice cream cake there and it was tremendous! You can check out the area that they actually make the ice cream which is nice as well. Has a nice feel and temperature inside… And the entire building looks nice and clean. If I am ever in the area again, I’d love to stop by this place for a nice treat, again!

while at the West side market, we began walking in the area and wanted ice cream, The West Side market does not have any ice cream vendors but someone directed us to Mitchells. This is a former movie theater which has been converted to an ice cream parlor with private rooms for functions upstairs. The staff was most helpful [Rachel, Zaid] and took out orders right away. We actually made two trips there since the ice cream was so good. I would recommend and return.

Always heard about Mitchell’s, people raving about it. Whenever I pass it by, I see lines are out the doors. «This must be darn good ice cream/frozen yogurt» I keep saying to myself. Well, I finally got my opportunity to try this high demand ice cream… no lines, straight to the front. I decided to try the taster’s duo… my choices? Campfire S’mores and Blue Cosmo. It was definitely a weird combination mashed together, ugh especially when it started to melt. I actually thought I was going to be wowed… kind of like when I have my Cold Stone Creamery Oreo Overload this is so amazing reaction. Nope… didn’t happen for me. I was just ice cream… ice cream that I can get at the grocery store. Didn’t quite understand what the big deal about this place. I feel that it is extremely overhyped. Price wise… inexpensive, which is a good thing. I guess when it is not crowded and you are craving for some ice cream while you are out and about in Ohio City I guess you can take $ 4 bucks and get a frozen treat. Otherwise, I’ll just stop by the store and grab some ice cream and go home.

Awesome ice cream, lovely staff and a flipping viewing gallery! This place ticks all the boxes especially after a couple of beers in one of the nearby microbreweries! Four words — Reese’s Cups Ice Cream

When I first moved here, I didn’t understand the hype over Mitchell’s. Fast forward three years and about 1000 truck loads of ice cream later, I get it… and I can’t ever get enough. I was pretty pumped when the Ohio City location opened. It’s close enough to my downtown apartment that if I’m ever craving ice cream, it’s a short drive away, but it’s far enough that I can’t walk over on a nightly basis for some creamy goodness! I go out /go out to eat a ton in OC, and always end up getting ice cream either post lunch/dinner or between bars. My absolute favorite is the Great Lakes Porter Chocolate Chunk! I can also make do with Pralines and Cream, Coffee chocolate chunk, or peanut butter chocolate chunk. Or, better yet, I love ordering the taster’s trio and getting a sampling of three of the above! I love this location because it’s big and spacious. If you’re not planning on walking around W. 25th with your ice cream, there’s plenty of seating(upstairs is usually open if the first floor is full). I love that you can see the huge kitchen as they create their delicious ice creams! And, now I’m craving ice cream… be right back ;)

I’m not sure if I’ve ever been to a Mitchell’s. I like this location because you can walk around Ohio City and then go get ice cream. There is a train that goes around the room above you. There are also party rooms upstairs, but they were reserved. We got a double scoop. 1: Caramel sea salt: It’s soft, at first, thought we were gonna get extra because of the softness, but then he put some back. 2: Pralines & Cream: this was amazing. The combination of the two was great. Overall Impression: I’d go back. I wouldn’t wait in line for +15 minutes, but I’d go back.

Delicious ice cream! I came here after a baseball game. It’s very bright and clean looking. You can walk to the back and see where the ice cream is made. They have huge machines that look like kitchenaid mixers. I had the coffee chocolate chunk(I think that was the name). If you love the taste of coffee — this is a must! It had huge chunks of chocolate and was very creamy and rich. If you buy a container of ice cream to take home, they even give you some sugar comes to take home! Ah, if I lived here, I would definitely gain weight because I would be here all the time!

Beautiful space serving delicious frozen goodness! You want to have a elegant slumber party here! Ice cream can be tricky for me… digestively if you know what I mean… not Michell’s! I popped in this past Friday and tried the toasted pistachio and vegan sea salt caramel… so delish. The vegan flavor finishes off slightly coconutty… I loved it and am so shocked at how similiar in texture, taste, and flavor it is to REAL ice cream. I am a vegan believer… well at least here anyway!

Clean, lots of natural light, airy and spacious. Go upstairs so you can watch the employees make ice cream! Free samples: D As it so happened, my family passed by when a home loan/refinancing company was advertising around Ohio City and they gave us coupons for free scoops. How can I say no to free ice cream?! Life is good. I forgot what the flavor was called(it was an unusual name), but it’s blue with marshmallows and is supposed to taste like cotton candy. GETTHATONE.

This is an awesome place to enjoy some really good ice cream. Really like the décor of the place. It’s so nice one can see the ice cream being made in front of one’s eyes. Head to second floor to have a nice bird’s eye view of the factory. Plenty to great flavors to choose from, definitely a great spot.

On my recent trip to Cleveland, my friend kept suggesting taking us to Mitchell’s before we came back home to Pittsburgh. It was the last thing we did and a GREAT ending to our weekend in the city. This location is perfect from the space to the ice cream. The first thing I noticed was how you can see the ice cream being made behind the glass from where you order your ice cream. It reminded me of Willy Wonka. Employees were definitely working hard and it was cool knowing where your ice cream is coming from. Aside from the kitchen area, the building is huge! I think my friend mentioned it used to be a theater. There are two floors and each has plenty of tables and chairs to enjoy your treats. It’s decorated very plain, yet extremely modern. The ice cream is some of the best I’ve had! They had countless flavors, some unique and some more traditional. I had peanut butter chocolate chunk. It was peanut butter flavored ice cream with chocolate chunks mixed in. One scoop(they were very generous) on a cake cone was a little over $ 3. Great price! Just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth!
