I am visiting from California for an extended period of time and I really wanted a salon that would service my hair in the same phenomenal way as my regular stylist. I visited and consulted several salons before selecting So Kinky, So Curly, So Straight. This salon is exactly what they profess to be in their website. Everyone was courteous and professional, everything was done the way I wanted and in a timely fashion. During my consultation we assessed my hair and decided together which services would be best for me; and discussed pricing which I appreciated. During my actual service, my stylist Tiara suggested products but also looked at the products I currently own and suggested ways to best utilize them. She even researched some hair vitamins I asked her about… which was a really nice touch. Most important, however were the results. Tiara did an AMAZING job on my hair. I love it. It looks beautiful. I’m so happy. I definitely recommend this salon.

Last Tuesday, I went in for a haircut. I had been there before and was serviced by Marion. She did an AMAZING job on my cut. Marion and I went through the plan we had for my hair and we agreed that I would come back and have the sides shaved down for the summer. I went into the salon and asked for Marion. She had a client. I said I would wait. They offered me another stylist. I said«Who is your best at the undercut?» Both the salon manager, Michelle and the salon owner Monica said Marion. I said I’d wait for Marion, then. They talked amongst themselves for a while. Came back to me and continued to offer another stylist. In comes Cassandra. I express to her that I want my hair cut the way it is, dry. She insists that she has to wash my hair. I tell her that I want my hair cut exactly the way it looks now. and I want it cut dry. She washes my hair and takes me to her chair. I’m ASSUMING since I’ve told her that I need my hair cut dry, she knows that she now has to style it and dry it before doing anything else to it. It needs to look exactly how I walked in. Because I’ve done the work already. and if you insist on washing my hair, you’re insisting on taking the responsibility of styling it. Is this what Cassandra does? Nope. She proceeds to blow dry my hair. Yes. I said it. Blow dry. I’m natural. I walk into your salon with curly hair. As a professional, don’t you think you should ask someone if it’s okay to apply direct heat on their natural hair texture? At the register, I’m being charged for: A shampoo — that I did not ask for A precision cut — which it obviously was not(part uneven and too high) A style — which I did myself. I forgot: While shaving my hair, Cassandra tells her assistant that«After this, I need to rush to my daughter’s graduation.» Once home, I contact the salon and speak to Michelle — the salon manager. She apologizes to me and asks me what happened. I go over the story in detail and she says«she said that?!» «what?!» «First, let me apologize for the experience you received. That is not a reflection of our salon. I’m sorry you had to go through that. Please let me know what we can do to make it right.» She apologizes profusely and says she’ll talk to Cassandra and she will forward this on to the owner. I did not receive a call back. I then had to call the salon back and was put in touch with Monica Green, the owner. Monica seems unaware, so I go through the story for a second time. She apologizes and offers me a 20% discount on my next service. I then approach the Facebook page and send a private message detailing the incident. I formally request a refund, in writing. Monica then calls and asks if I’ll come in to see if there’s any way to fix my cut. I state that there is nothing you can do to fix it. I tell her I’m going to get a fade. She insists on having me come in. I live on the west side. This salon is in South Euclid. A 30 minute drive But, I’m thinking. Sure, if it’ll get me my refund and I can be rid of this experience — I’ll do it. So I go in right then and she spends 20 minutes pulling at my hair trying to compensate for length & volume. I go over the situation again in DETAIL. She says«Yes, I saw her do that.» Monica confessed to watching Cassandra ignore everything I told her to do. «I don’t know why she thought that. I don’t know where the miscommunication is. She’s usually very good.» all of this is said to me. Monica Green admitted to watching her stylist give me a bad cut and did not intervene. PROBLEM! Monica tells me everything I need to do to save the cut. I tell her the parts are uneven and I am not comfortable with«saving» it. When she’s done playing in my hair she asks me if that made it better. I tell her no. I let the weekend go and all of Monday watching my account, expecting my refund to appear. Especially since she could not fix the problem. I wait until today, still no refund. I check the nature of the transaction: it is debit. Which means a refund will process automatically. I contacted Monica informing her of this. She attempts to call me, but I do not feel comfortable having any further conversations off the record. I tell her that I am requesting a refund, and there is nothing else that needs to be stated. Her response, or lack thereof, is the reason why I’m detailing my experience with So Curly. I ask for a dry, as-is cut. Denied. I ask that if after the wash, my hair be cut dry. Denied. I ask that she lower the part. Denied. I ask to keep the length on top. Denied. Everything I do not want is done to my hair. And is witnessed by the owner of the salon. The fact that I have to hound you to make it right is wrong. The fact that I had to sit through and be subjected to the defense of the stylist, not once but three times. is wrong. I gave you money for a service that wasn’t provided. I have been fair. I have been patient. I have been quiet. However, this is now unacceptable to me.

I had the pleasure of getting styled by two stylists there. Shanequa did a braided updo for me that I absolutely loved. So much so that I came back a few weeks later to have her cut my natural hair. She gave it a great style that fit my face well and was easy to maintain. A few weeks later I had Cassandra style and color my hair. I was incredibly pleased with the results. She is skilled and takes time to thoroughly explain her process. I’ve always had a warm welcome from the reception staff as well. Overall, this is a salon that strives to maintain a professional image while providing courteous service.

This salon may work for some but not for me! I got one of their overpriced weave installs and it made my hair fall out so bad I had no choice but to cut it all off. I know most might try to say it must’ve been something I did wrong, but that is not true because in the past I’ve worn weaves back to back and never had any issues with my hair breaking off. I even made sure I washed it every couple weeks as well. I kept it in for 2.5 months which is the amount of time I’d kept the other weaves in in the past. I was also told by the stylist this would be one of the best things to do since I was in the process of going natural. The difference between the way this stylist did my weave is that she did not add any braiding hair(extensions) when she braided my hair up to do the install. I didn’t really think anything of it but that is literally the only thing she did different which(I guess) resulted in my hair being more damaged than ever before. So paying the extra $ 15 for the«deep condition» or whatever fancy name they gave was not worth it because for my hair to fall out the way it did there is no way it worked in the first place! If you decide to take a chance and go here DONOT waste money on a weave! It looked good when she was done because I brought some top of the line virgin hair and I made sure she knew I wanted it very basic and not any Sha-nay-nay looking weaves like I’ve seen others get in there! I will never go back because I was also told that this was one of their best stylist so I can’t imagine how bad the others would make my hair fall out! Also, please someone tell them to get rid of the edge control!!!

I came here to get my hair done back in February. I booked my appointment a day or two in advance. The receptionist was very professional and friendly. I went to Tiara I think they may also call her«Big T» as there are two gals by the name of Tiara that work at So Curly So Kinky. She did an excellent job with my hair. I got a shampoo, blow dry and flat iron/curl. I’m natural and Tiara had my hair so straight and bouncy. Baby my hair was layed like Toya Carter. Tiara was also very knowledgeable about hair care products and was very pleasant and easy to talk to. I really enjoyed my visit at the salon. They have a nice assortment of hair care products and some cute tee shirts as well. If I am every in the Cleveland area again I will make sure to stop by and pay So Curly So Kinky So Straight a visit. The prices were reasonable as well, I paid $ 60 for my services plus a trim. Oh and they take credit cards which is a major plus!
