Southwest General

Had a recent experience here and it was positive. Nurses were very attentive, constantly in the room monitoring the patient. The new wing or tower is very nice, huge rooms. This is definitely not the same old Southwest I grew up with

My fourth time at this ER and my first time at the new ER and my experience was heartbreaking to say the least. No one offered to explain to us why we were waiting so long to be seen by the doctor. I arrived there at about 4:00 pm and walked out at 11:30 pm after sitting without being attended to for hours! The nurse never asked if I wanted water or anything, not even an extra blanket; my husband had to go and ask for that. When he went to the nurses station, she was seen looking at houses on the internet. She discussed her move to Connecticut with other hospital workers and stated that the hospital should hire nurses instead of buying art! This didn’t make us comfortable at all. I was so surprised at the decline in service at this ER. I understand being busy, but we never got an explanation or anything as to why we we were waiting so long. Please do better Southwest, as you are our neighborhood hospital where we’ve had better experiences in the past.
