The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland

A little over a week ago, I was convinced that I would be returning to Cleveland. But then I thought I wouldn’t. Then I thought I would.
Good thing I had pre-​booked room reservations, because if I had not we for sure would be shaking up in Pittsburgh.
Hotels in the Midwest are by far the friendliest. And the RC-​Cleveland is no different. Yes, it’s a high end hotel in most every sense, but there is no stuffiness anywhere to be found. I find this very refreshing and loved the fact that they aren’t shy and hand you a bottle of Tabasco with your poached eggs. Love you room service!

Best hotel in Cleveland! their general manager is an absolute gem. If you ever have a special occasion try staying in the presidential suite it’s to die for!

The Ritz Cleveland was a great hotel, great location and the best staff. Around bed time on the day we checked out my son had found out that he left his «silky» which is his security blanket. I was explaining to him that we could call but not sure if they had it at the hotel and to be prepared to not have it. He broke down in tears– I call and Verlin in loss prevention advised me that they had it. I joked with him that he just saved the day. I was not able to go back to hotel because of time constraints but he offered to bring it to me on his day off tomorrow. I was very impressed with his gracious offer and moved that he would even offer to do such a thing on his own time but told him it was unnecessary. Ended up that they are sending it Fed Ex to my home in AZ. Five Stars for the Ritz-​Cleveland and it is because of the staff, especially Verlin in Loss Prevention!!!

I am so disappointed.400.00 for a dirty small room. I’ll never go back I’ve had nicer rooms at a holiday inn and I was charged for mini bar that I never used, next time I’ll stay at the renaissance my husband’s birthday was ruined and unfortunately there is no do over

Came to watch the Cavs game and never had to go outside to get to Quicken Loans Arena. The casino is in walking distance as well.
We were upgraded to the top floor where you have your own lobby with catered food from 5:30pm-10pm & free food & drinks.
It was a great experience. Staff is pretty amazing and ran into some of the basketball players as they were staying here. The opposing team anyway.
Certainly will come back again!

As the saying goes you get what you pay for. Service and location was excellent that’s about it. If you’ve stayed at other Ritz properties you know what I’m talking about and if this has been the only Ritz you have stayed at please do yourself a favor and try another Ritz property before you write off the brand. IMO many of their Marriott properties are a step above such as the Macro Island Marriott.

It’s a nice hotel and the price isn’t terrible but I would not consider this Ritz to be as high end as others. The finishes are nice but they are starting to look worn. The bed is very comfy and the room is quite but I with it had a larger tub and the tv has limited channels.

I love this hotel, I experienced it first time with my brother, and it was awesome. They change the bed sheets and everything in your room for you every single day. They also give free shaving and dental kits, so that is what I like. I will recommend this for everybody. I appreciate this hotel and I miss the hotel, and I would go back any day.

Stayed here for the 4^th of July, on the Club level. They wait on you hand and foot, there is food CONSTANTLY in the club lounge, free champagne (real French champagne not cheap stuff) beer, wine, whatever you want. Breakfast, lunch, heavy nor d’oeuvres in the evening. You could totally eat every meal there if you wanted. They called us by name and kept wanting to know what we needed. Asked for an extra robe in the room, had it in like 5 mins flat. It was very quiet in the hotel, we watched the sunset and fireworks from the lounge and had drinks too. It was great, all the staff I saw were awesome and very friendly. Some people can always find something to complain about because they are looking for it.

I changed my wedding venue last minute and did all of my planning form California. I worked with Theresa who was an absolute god send. She was amazing and took care of every single detail. We had our ceremony in the riverview room and it looked amazing. They had champagne passing as the violinist played and were beyond kind to all of our guests. My husband and I stayed there in a suite and received the best hospitality thus far. What a pleasure it was to stay at the Ritz with such amazing service and talented people to make our wedding so special. We will be back and look forward to working with you again. I am still overwhelmed with how beautiful everything was. The hotel is beyond glamorous and the staff is amazing.

Worst Ritz I’ve ever stayed in — but the good first. I was here for a wedding and the wedding areas were lovely and the food was awesome. Warning though to anyone planning a wedding at this hotel — there is a very well choreographed system of drink removal to run up your bar tab. The second you set your drink down and looked away it is gone! No joke — I had about 5 disappear this way — it was ridiculous. I noticed several people shouting out to the servers to come back with their drinks. It was a total sham to run up the bar bill.
The hotel is old and shabby. The furniture in the lobby is threadbare and worn looking. The rooms are ok — comfy beds but again — old carpet and water stains on the ceiling. The staff — oh where to begin??? I get it that this hotel is in the inner city– but oh my — the staff was ghetto! They never said hello, but I did hear lots of personal discussions about why they disliked working at the hotel and all about their crazy dead beat ex-​husbands (this was as I was sitting in the lobby). It was not up the the standard I would expect of a Ritz. I give it 2 stars because the wedding food and settings were amazing — but the rest was not great.

There are unquestionably legitimate criticisms one can have with this property, and the competition just from among other Marriott Properties in the immediate area is stiff; BUT, having stayed at all of them, and enjoyed each of them for their own, distinct reasons; make no mistake THIS IS a Ritz Carlton, IT IS a notch above the others, the Staff IS attentive. While unquestionably dated as compared to Metropolitan 9 the beds are comfy, the sheets are soft, and the hallways are quiet.
Yes you can get a better rate at the Renaissance or the Key and you’ll get more «wow» from the 9, but there’s nothing «better» downtown than the Ritz Carlton.

As someone that has stayed multiple times at the other 3 Marriott properties within a few blocks of here (Marriott Key, Renaissance, and Metro 9) I’m am entirely underwhelmed – ESPECIALLY for a Ritz to be my least favorite of them all.
1) When I checked in, I waited 15 minutes because they had one person on front desk. They also kept declining my card which had more than enough credit before I just sighed and handed over my debit card.
2) Room appointments are dated and subpar – Renaissance next door is cheaper and actually considerably better decorated in my opinion.
3) There is no concierge lounge – I’m a frequent Marriott/​ritz traveler, and this is a big one for me.
4) Fitness center is tiny.
All in all, not a great showing for a Ritz Carlton. I’m here nearly every week, and this will be my last at the Ritz.

This is super hard to find from the inside of Tower City; especially when you are checking in after hours. But the staff here is super friendly even if the rooms seem outdated. Definitely not as elegant as I was expecting from the Ritz. But the room was appointed well enough for two.

Although it’s not there most modern hotel. The staff was exceptional and we had an event there, a 40^th birthday party that was amazing. The good was fantastic. The ritz is definitely leaving up to it’s name

I’ve stayed in numerous 5 star hotels over the past 3 weeks, but my experience at the Ritz was particularly memorable because of the staff. From check in with the bellman, to the housekeeping staff who laundered some items for me in a pinch, to the staff in lost and found who located my items that I left behind and put them in the mail promptly… they made my crazy trip more of a smooth and easy one.
The Ritz has an older, classic feel to it, an my only suggestion would be to update the sheets. They were a bit scratchy.

This review is based purely off of service.
I’ve had multiple encounters with this and other Ritz locations while coordinating travel needs for my boss. The main switchboard attendants are always pleasant and professional. Every Front Desk employee with whom I’ve dealt has been wonderful, and done whatever it took to personally fulfill my request, or guide me in the proper direction.
The Concierge Desk? I have yet to speak with one of these employees who has been able to resolve a single issue, taken ownership for one thing, or been one ounce of help, other than transferring me back to the Front Desk. They always seem confused and/​or unwilling to do the definition of their title: serve guest requests and needs. Not to be rude, but I wouldn’t expect the kind of inept reception from an NYC doorman in a low-​level building, and most definitely not from a Ritz.
That being said, they are the only week link I’ve experienced. And all other employees have been so wonderful, and gone above/​beyond, that I’m still quite comfortable giving them a 4-​star rating. This is particularly the case after an occurrence last evening where I was in serious need of having materials waiting for my manager upon his arrival. Manny — the manager on duty — went to the extent of going into downtown Cleveland to search for the materials himself. When he couldn’t find them, he kept calling stores outside of Cleveland, and even offered to take a cab half an hour out of town, if that was need to fulfill the request. And he did it! Now THAT is the kind of service one expects from a Ritz.
My manager swears by the hotel for convenience, comfort, and accommodations. I swear by them for the majority of their customer service. Perhaps the Concierge Desk is more helpful to guests whom they can see in the flesh. Either way, I’d recommend this as an option for your stay in the Cleveland area.

This review is for the lounge and entrance part of the hotel only.
I was staying down the street at another hotel and decided to come here for some martinis and people watching. The doormen jumped when my limo (compliments of L’Albatross) showed up and two of them quickly helped me out and opened the front door.
I was greeted immediately by another employee who directed me up to the lounge where I was again greeted by the lovely hostess (who’s name I forgot even though we spent much time talking-​IM SORRY!) She informed me the martini bar was closed for a private function but the akin lounge was open and could make the same drinks.
Seated at the bar I was promptly served some über delicious drinks and ended up staying for let’s just say, more then two of them, while talking to said lovely hostess who gave me information on the hotel as well as the concierge level as I always stay in suites and club floors.
Upon leaving said doormen hailed a car very quickly for me and made sure I was safely in and on my way.
I decided next time I come to downtown Cleveland, I’m staying here! The service was exceptional!

Now I know firsthand why people use the term «Ritzy» to refer to unparalleled luxury. I could get used to this white glove treatment…
While in town recently, I was feeling like I wanted some luxury, and had the opportunity to stay at the Ritz-​Carlton. When I called to book, I was also informed that this is the ONLY Ritz-​Carlton in the state of Ohio, making it feel even more exclusive. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but whatever I did expect, the Ritz-​Carlton exceeded my hopes.
The staff addressed me by name, and were always very courteous and helpful, but never so obvious that I felt like I couldn’t unwind and enjoy myself. The room itself was impeccable, and I appreciated the turn-​down service with a tiny chocolate square that I had before bedtime when I stayed there. The gym was very nice, not too big, but had all of the equipment (cardio, weights) that I would need to stay fit on the road.
If you can, make time to enjoy the sunset from the concierge lounge; it was a clear evening when I went there and the view of the sun setting over Lake Erie was phenomenal! I definitely took a «stop and smell the roses» moment that evening, just enjoying a cup of hot tea and the view, and feeling like I didn’t have a car in the world. For that moment, I didn’t!
I would recommend the valet if you do go. There aren’t any nearby parking lots or garages that are much cheaper, and the convenience of the valet cannot be beat. You can even text from your room for them to retrieve your car, and it will be at the curb by the time you are on the first floor.
