Geez where to start? Opened the front door and noticed they were using tape to do something. Keep it from locking? Dunno. Waltz up to the counter and place my order; I mean attempt to place it. Wife wanted chicken. Nope. They didn’t have any. Not as in ready, as in none. What about cole slaw? Nope. Oh good I get to drive somewhere else to get chicken. They did have sliders so at least half my order was possible. Got said sliders and ventured out in search of chicken. They were fresh, hot and very good. The crew, including the manager, were very nice, so that’s a plus. Place could use a major renovation however.

This is an interesting place where Church’s and White castle are together. It’s a pretty quiet place — not many people visited there, not sure why. I wanted to have spicy but apparently they didn’t have any ready so they would want us to wait for 20 minutes, so I decided to get normal instead cuz I didn’t want to wait for that long. The fried chicken was ok; I can’t really tell if it’s because they didn’t fry it long enough or their seasoning needed improvement. I did enjoy the fried okra though!

One word describes this location: SLOW!!! I really like White Castle, and I know that the food is made fresh and takes longer than most fast food restaurants, but 25 minutes in a drive through with no one in front of you. Really?

Love White Castle when I get my drank on! This one is wayyy faster than the W. 117th one. Only downside is if ya ask for no onions they just scrape em off… I can do that ya lazy bastards. There is an adult bookstore right next door too… so get a buzz, some sliders and get your sleeze on!

I’d never been to a White Castle outside of Chicago. And, even then, it was only twice. Ok, and one of those times was when I was 10. But when I saw White Castle pop-up as an option on my Unilocal iPhone app, I couldn’t resist going. Sometimes you just get that craving. And White Castle was my first ever slider experience. There’s just something about those tiny cheeseburgers. And, just perhaps, something about the fact that it was my grandfather(who was born and raised in Chicago) who first introduced me to the concept of sliders and White Castle. Plus, it’s a building shaped like a little castle. And then there’s that Harold and Kumar movie… I pulled into the parking lot and started to get a little nervous. It wasn’t exactly the greatest looking area and mine was the only car around. I walked up to the main entrance only to discover that it was locked. Huh? It was barely 6:00pm. Were they actually closed already? As I was starting to back out and pull away, one of the employees came running out and waved me in. I was irritated enough to almost keep driving away. But again, sometimes you just get that craving. So I pulled back in and hurried on through the door. Apparently, the wind blows the doors into locked position(or so was the excuse offered by the winking teenage boy). I ordered a combo of 4 sliders, crinkle-cut fries, and a soda. A little bit disturbing to see the teenage boy go about preparing them. And when they were handed to me(after about 10 seconds in whatever you want to call whatever they put them in), I wanted to hand them back. But alas, I did no such thing. The meat was even more of a gray color than the ones you find in the frozen food aisle. And the cheese wasn’t melted at all. And the fries were kinda ick. Ok, and I started to feel a little sick as I started in on slider #3. And then there was the only other customer to walk in, who totally gave me serial killer vibes, that stopped to talk to me about the color of hair and my plans after I finished eating my sliders(no thanks, I don’t need a ride, and I don’t really want to see the puppies in the back of your unmarked, white van)… Overall, though, nostalgia will always get the best of me. No matter how bad the White Castle experience, those little cheeseburgers will always have a special little spot in my heart. I’m 10 years old, wearing a hot pink Hard Rock Café polo shirt, sitting in a White Castle somewhere on the Southside, with my grandfather next to me…

On one of our roadtrips through Cleveland, we stopped at this White Castle/Church’s Fried Chicken in Old Brooklyn for lunch because we had this HUMONGOUS craving for those little White Castle hamburger slyders. Okay so we ordered a sack of slyders, crinkle cut fries, honey butter biscuits, and a couple large Diet Cokes. We watched them make our slyders, from the small square beef patties with the hole in the center soaked in grease, to the assembly with beef patties, ketchup onions, & pickles on the small buns. The food tasted soooo good, but was soooo bad for us, but heck, this was a small treat for us on vacation. After we were done, we ordered another sack of slyders for the road, which were gone by the time we passed through Mansfield. I wish they would build some White Castles in Upstate NY and Northern New England. A very long time ago, there was a White Castle located across the street from the Montgomery Ward’s Building in Menands NY(outside of Albany NY). For now, we’ll just have to stick with the frozen slyders, which is not the same as getting the real thing fresh off the grill.
