Quaint café with a very homey vibe. Service was really really helpful and food was yummy. We highly recommend the homemade perigos. Really delicious! The tongue salad was tasty, and also really liked the pork schnitzel and we recommend the the chicken kiev with kasha. We love family owned small places like this. BYOB bonus!

While ordering online, I paid 10 dollars for apparently 4 perogies, I found myself wondering why I asked for 4 of each kind they have but charged me for the 16 and gave me only 4. I was told that 4 were 1.5dollars so I ordered 4 orders of 4 and the mushroom appetizer. I am here to complain that I got scammed and only now I made time to make a point because I don’t want anyone else to feel like they got less than what they paid for.

Nice family business. I can’t tell whether the food was authentic, but the beef stroganoff and the Russian dumplings were delicious. The price was fair comparing to similar Russian restaurants in Manhattan. Will come back to try the duck confit and lamb rack!

The Pelmeni Uralskyi was awesome, as I have never quite had a dish like it. The flavors of cheese, pork dumplings, dill, cilantro and ham blended well. My wife had the Golupsi, and it was equally as good. It had a lot of dill in it.

For an unassuming storefront restaurant the food was surprisingly good in quality, quantity and price. We had a number of different dishes and all were generous and delicious. We were particularly impressed at the freshness of the food and the fact that it wasn’t drenched in fat/butter but had a ton of flavor. The menu features some traditional Russian dishes but also some of other ethnicities — we had some picky eaters and we all found something we enjoyed. On food alone this would be 4 ½ stars — server was not too friendly bringing it down a notch but part of that might have been language/cultural difference.

Had a great time! The food was fresh and delicious and home-made. Their apple pie was the best I have had. The ambiance was perfect. The staff makes you feel like you’re at home. I have been there several times now and will definitely go back.

Not sure why but it has changed management and Chef. This place tonight is empty! The menu has changed and not for the better unfortunately. Waitress was Russian but wasn’t sure of what was on the menu or what they made. Half of the menu wasn’t even available. About a 1⁄3 of the dining room had a karaōke setup/makeshift office, didn’t add much to the ambiance. The dining room isn’t that large why set up office during service? Either way we were 1 of 2 tables there for most of the night so I guess it doesn’t matter. We were here a few months prior and had an excellent Russian meal! Unfortunately we won’t be returning!

The beef stroganoff was the best I ever had. For me Lada Café is the best Russian restaurant in the area. The price is affordable(example: beef stroganoff is less then 14 bucks). The service was nice, and they are usually open late. Call before you come. They close when the last customer leave.

The only reason Im rating it 3 stars is because the ambience could use some work, but that said, the food was awesome! Service is a bit slow. Being a vegetarian, I thought my choices would be restricted, but the staff was so helpful. Special mention to the apple strudel.

We brought our friends here to experience Russian cuisine. In addition they’ve got to experience more than just the food, but also how things are done in Russia. It would be just funny if we had a Russians party, but I was the only one and it was embarrassing. The food was good and the staff was friendly, but they didn’t have 3 of 5 appetizers we were planning to order and 3 of 4 entrees. They told us about some things upfront and some after the order had been already placed. Since so many dishes on the menu weren’t available, I think it would be better if they just had a printed list of today’s specials. That way the negative impression could be avoided. Between 4 and 5 stars for the food and the service, between 1 – 2 stars for the«Russian ways».

I was so excited to see my two best friends on my recent trip to New Jersey, Ilene Greene and Carolyn Delafrange, who I hadn’t seen for quite some time. I brought them to Lada Café, my favorite Russian restaurant in Cliffside Park, that my friend Harvey had introduced to me. We started off with appetizers of eggplant sotte, pickled veggies(cabbage, pickles and fresh tomato), O’Livie salad(chicken salad). Of course, we had to drink some of the vodka that Harvey brought in between appetizers. What would an authentic Russian meal be without it? Then we had these fabulous blinis,(the Russki version of crepes) with sour cream, lox and salmon roe wrapped inside, veraniki(potato dumplings with sautéed onions) — my favorite, and palmini(the Russian version of Italian tortellini, stuffed with meat). All the appetizers were just outstanding and extremely tasty. Then we had a true Russian dinner consisting of the best Beef Stroganoff I’ve ever had, a delish fried chicken schnitzel and succulent and juicy pork kebobs with kasha. Ilene said the kasha was almost as good as hers but missing varnishkas(bowtie noodles). To top off this wonderful meal, we had Lada’s home-made apple studel with sugar-coated grapes and sweet strawberries. If you ever wanted to try a great Russian restaurant, this is it! They don’t have a liquor license, but you can bring your own adult beverage, and you can usually find a parking space on the street. So see the video review of this evening, go to YouTube then search for magic eye communications, and you will see the video on Lada Café.

Such luck!!! Only Russian restaurant in Northern NJ and we’re fortunate that it’s a great one. Its a very clean place and the service is good. My wife is from Belarus and everything we’ve ordered, came out warm and was delicious even to her standards. Not your typical Russian place where they have gold trimming everywhere or massive size columns or over-sized gaudy things. Its a pleasant place where you could have a nice conversation with some friends, enjoy great food and bring your own bottle of wine or vodka to imbibe. Definitely going back, again and again.

I love this place. The food is great and the waiters are helpful. The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is the fact that the place is rather small so sometimes it is hard to get a table. The food is amazing though!!! :)

The Lada Russian Café is one of my favorite places to go for Russian food. I always get the blinis because I like caviar and smoked salmon. I also get the pelmini and vereniki as they are delicious and if I bring people, the O’livey salad and the eggplant sotte. You eat that and you don’t need and entrée but if you’re like me, you will take home half, so order the Stroganoff or the duck or the salmon in the pastry or the lamb. And don’t forget the fruit blintz for dessert.

Oh boy … Well my neighbor recommend that place today and I guess I did feel a little old country homesick and decided to try it out … So I go there … Small place, nothing special, could do some better decorating … Service attentive enough. I order a pickled herring and a pork kebab. Herring came out with oil and onion, had to ask for sour cream. Pork kebab a.k.a came out RARE, pork — rare ! So I kindly asked to cook that more, came back oddly fast(meaning they just put it in a microwave oven) 3 strikes ! I could continue but since I get the old country cravings once in 5 years I’ll skip the place all together. For those who like good Russian food there’s a wonderful deli in Fair Lawn, B & B International Deli. Awesome food, truly authentic and always very satisfying. Wish they opened one around here :(

I like this place! Food is great, staff is attentive. Been here for 2 different family parties. The 2nd party was my uncle’s 65th birthday and they closed down the place so it was only us. They rented a DJ& had a little dance floor. As for the food, it’s Russian cuisine. Can’t go wrong with ezik, kartoshka, and blinchiki. The shashliki were good too. They don’t serve alcohol so BRINGYOUROWNVODKA.

Full disclosure: I would probably give 4 stars to any place that has hachapury. And theirs is particularly good: not too greasy, so there’s less guilt that I am a cheesy-bread-loving fiend. Anyway. Cute little place, mostly Russian food, with a few other items on the menu. Our group of 10 was accommodated in almost everything – ordering appetizers as entrees, separating sauces, and so on. Yes, my friends are high-maintenance. Anyway, everyone was happy, except for the fact that they don’t serve alcohol. BUT the nice waiter told us where to grab a bottle of Mondavi nearby. Russkiy style, what what! The prices are a little high, but you get good size portions. Yay for restaurants named after crappy Soviet cars!
