Nice surprise. Excellent lunch. My hubby had the sloppy dawg. We shared the the smoked wings. They were sooooooo good. The hamburger was pretty good too. Would definitely come back. Friendly wait staff and the cook actually came out of the kitchen and asked how things were. Hats off to cook.

This spot made for a rather interesting meal after a hike through Roaring Run. The staff was attentive and personable. There was a very large party that arrived just before we did so we did have a bit of a wait for our food. All the antiques, Americana and peanuts kept us occupied. Everything was delicious. The pulled pork was especially tasty.

We dined here very recently I have been slacking in regard to writing this review. This is classic Americana. I saw people complained that the food was unhealthy. Its not subway. For someone who is stuck in the modern world day in day out. This is quite an eye opener. Plenty of antiques, back lit photographs portraying the towns rich railroads heritage. The building even has the original door. They restroom well stocked and very clean. A simple american café, burgers and fried foods. Our waiter was very nice. I was happy to lend a hand with cleanup. After being stuck in the car, driving through Clifton Forge this place really hit the spot. Don’t forget to see the choo choo across the street. All in all, I’m very glad I stopped there. Im sure most people drive past Clifton Forge and never give it a second thought. Its a little town with a lot of history.

Decent food… everyone at our table had cheeseburgers with nacho cheese and chili. The décor was cute and local… our server was erratic and disorganized.

Went here with the family on a Saturday, party of six. The service was good but my god, EVERYTHING is so greasy. Be warned, nothing here is remotely healthy. Even grilled chicken was greasy. The pulled pork is pretty good. Get it with the spicy BBQ sauce.

I stopped here because it was on the other side of the street from the train museum we went to. There were only a few people in the restaurant yet it took FOREVER to get our food. The waitress was nice enough. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and thought it was terrible. It had no taste. I seriously hoped I wasn’t going to get sick from it. The only good think about the place is that the kids meals on an awesome value. Maybe some of the other food items are better, but overall my experience was not good. I wouldn’t say don’t go, but I’d look at other options first.

Amazing! Great pulled pork sandwich! Super soft. Spicy BBQ sauce rocks! Ask for jus a bowl of chili, it’s so good. Homemade chips are crispy and light! Onion rings are cut thick and you can actually taste the sweet onion. ‘Dawgs’ are piled high! Cleanest bathroom we’ve used on our trip. Friendly staff.

I am extremely picky eater and while visiting family over the weekend I found myself with few options for lunch. So I jumped in the car with my brother heading towards small Clifton Forge to grab something. While driving through town I spotted The Red Caboose. As a lover of a good burger I decided to try this place out. As my brother and I walked in, the décor said simple, something I actually enjoy in a burger joint. We walked up to place a to-go order. As we waited I snacked on the peanuts that are set on every table. We got our order and returned home. The first thing I noticed was the size of the order of fries. A basket of fries turned out to be a large take-out box full. Although the fries were slightly stale, the burger was delicious. I got the single, which was huge. The burger was very good and not just a pressed frozen patty thrown on a grill. It was juicy and it seemed to melt with every bite. It was slightly greasy but that just added to the juiciness. With bacon and cheese on the top, I wanted more but was so full I couldn’t eat another bite. If you find yourself in the little town of Clifton Forge this is a great place to grab a burger and some sweet tea.
