A brilliant invention for cupcake lovers as there’s nothing more annoying than smooshed frosting and cupcakes deserve special handling to prevent such tragedies and annoyances. In regular pastry boxes, cupcakes can slide around and fall over. Cupcake carriers and stands are cute but impractical for those single cupcake situations(tucking a cupcake into your lunch bag, picnics, traveling). I picked mine(frosted white plastic) up at Sprinkles Cupcakes but they also sell them at the Container Store and select cupcake shops. They come in five colors, run about $ 3 each, and they’re hand-washable. Picture surprising a friend with a cupcake in a Cup-A-Cake. Important cupcake dates(note these on your calendar!): * Oct. 18th: National Chocolate Cupcake Day * Nov 10th: National Vanilla Cupcake Day * Dec 15th: National Cupcake Day

Like Mara T, I was unable to fit anything but the standard smallish grocery store-sized cupcakes in my Cup-A-Cake containers. Even cupcakes I baked at home using standard cupcake liners in a standard cupcake pan wouldn’t fit =( I e-mailed Cup-A-Cake letting them know about the problem and asking if I could mail them back and get a refund, but I never got a response. Now I have $ 15 worth of useless plastic sitting in my kitchen.

If you are a cupcake lover and you haven’t heard of a Cup-A-Cake…GETWITHTHEPROGRAM!!! These things are friggin genius. Basically they hold a solitary cupcake in them snapped shut and won’t let them wiggle or jiggle or fall over no matter how rough-and-tumble things get, and the frosting stays as perfect as it was when it went in. A friend gave me a few for Xmas and I use them for bringing coworkers one-off cupcakes. They come in a bunch of diff colors, stores like Williams Sonoma sell them, or you can just get them on their website, . Only downer is that they don’t fit the slightly larger/squattier cupcakes quite as well… they are made for exactly the regular store liners you get at like a Safeway rather than anything slightly remotely shaped a little diff. So a slightly larger/squattier cupcake will be squeezed a little too tightly, leaving slice marks in the side of the cake. NOTETOCUP-A-CAKE…make them able to hold slightly larger cuppies too! And make mini ones too! And make a cupcake carrier that holds regulars, biggies, AND minis. Surely all of this is not too much to ask right? :) But it still does it’s job frosting wise which is as-we-all-know, the most important part. AND unlike so many other random items that hold cupcakes… you can pile the frosting mile-high on the cupcakes and it’ll still fit perfectly into the container. Any self-respecting cupake lover should have at least 2 in their cupboards at home. All I wanna know is why don’t I have ingenius ideas like this? So unfair.
