Best French fries! Excellent wine, and greatest bartender ever!!! Nice place to spend an evening in a cozy and relaxed atmosphere.

I’m a fan. I think it’s very attractive and homey inside, and they do a great job with their rotating wine and beer list. I definitely prefer it to Nola’s next door(they’re owned by the same people). In contrast to Nola’s, The Annex is wine and beer only but does serve both tapas and beer on tap. It’s a great place to have a glass and read a book or to share a bottle over conversation audible without shouting. The service is always friendly and the music tends to be very pleasant(lately I’ve noticed a lot of Otis Redding and Sam Cooke on the stereo). The Annex is definitely the nicest bar in Clinton but it is also the most expensive. Of course this isn’t the sort of place where one would expect to find cans of Utica Club for $ 1.50 but I do regularly notice beers on tap for as much as $ 10 that other places in the area serve for $ 4 or $ 5, so the markup can be pretty steep. Still, it’s a great spot and I do appreciate that(perhaps as a function of the pricetag) there seems to be a whole lot less folksy racism coming out of the mouths of the clientele than you’ll find around the corner at the Village Tavern. Also, I wish they would expand their hours a bit; at present The Annex is only open Wednesday-Saturday.
