On our way up to the Redwoods for vacation, we stopped at Picks for lunch. All four of us had hamburgers, my wife and I cheeseburgers, and our two sons bacon cheeseburgers. The burgers were good, although all suffered from overcooked buns on the bottom that were toast-like in texture. My youngest son had a chocolate shake, which I sampled, and was very good. The fries were also decent. There was a threat of rain when we stopped by, and we were concerned since there was no inside dining. But they do have wide overhangs outside, a few barstools under the overhangs, and standing room if necessary. Fortunately, the rain held off, and there are lots of picnic tables on the side and in the back for seating. Small sample size of course, we thought Picks was OK, although we probably wouldn’t go out of our way just to eat here

Great old-school burger and shake place. Their coffee milkshake was the bomb. Great outdoor seating and cool old timey ambiance.

I really wanted to love this place especially when they told me the total but unfortunatley they did not hit the mark. My milk shake was watery, fish was undercooked and pasty, onion ring order gave me 7 very small onion rings. Nothing here was a hit! Actually the ranch was really good. Unfortunatley that’s it. Defiantly not worth the price, the customer service was not great either. With trying new places it can be a hit or a miss this was a MISS!

Burger patty quality– very poor. Always has a nasty inedible chunk in the patty. Fries– not cooked enough and/or way too salty. Get off the idolized salt and use actual salt. Not always the most mature staff.

WORSTBURGERJOINTIVEEVERBEENTO! Save your money and go to McDonalds, it’s cheaper and way better. Like who puts sweet relish on a burger… yuck. I do not recommend this pathetic little burger joint.

This was our last stop at the end of a five day road trip. Fellow Unilocalers came though again. This was a great lunch spot. Menu is posted above walk up counter. There was a bit of confusion upon ordering because patrons were standing at the counter waiting for orders to be taken, no line, just a bit of chaos. Once we did place our order and pay we found a picnic table in the shade.(This is all outdoor seating, about four stools at the counter and eight or so picnic tables) We ordered three burgers and a large order of fries to share. Good solid burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. Finished he main course and then ordered an ice cream cone and Root Beer float for the drive, both good. One star taken away because the restroom was sorely lacking. No tp, & no paper towels for hand drying. Soap dispenser empty. They obviously are spending their time making great food, but definitely need to work on the restroom upkeep.

Hey all you old school travelers, Yup the folks who like to travel via an automobile. Pick’s Drive In is a old school roadside burger joint.
Not sure if route 66 made it this far north but Pick’s would easily fit in and you will feel the«at home» vibe this roadside mecca has to offer. Me and my kids stopped here purely by coincidence as I had to pee like a racehorse after several hours of driving. We pulled off in the tiny town of Cloverdale and Pick’s was an easy target for some road grub and a water closet. In the middle of August you can’t beat a soft serve Ice Cream. Pick’s got your back. Not only do they have Americana via dogs and burgers but you can get yourself a tasty cold treat that’ll keep you moving down the road. Root beer float? A cool place on a hot day! I love these old school places like Pick’s. No BS,( ) no price gouging, no lines. This is my kind of place. Order, eat, smile all the way home. Picks is an American Classic– burgers, fries, onion rings, soft serve, all delicious and served with a friendly smile from the owner Claudia or Brandy,

Pick’s Drive In offers an ongoing positive experience for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. Picks has outstanding soft serve ice cream as well as delicious burgers/sandwiches and fries. It’s a very popular spot for both tourists and locals. I ordered the black bean burger with fries and a Mr. Pibb. The food was fast, service helpful and friendly, and outdoor picnic tables clean and shady to relax under. Prices were reasonable(3 of us ate for less than $ 35, $ 11-ish each). I came specifically for the soft serve a few days prior and loved it. I will certainly offer a positive review and will be back for more.

Picks is an American Classic– burgers, fries, onion rings, soft serve, all delicious and served with a friendly smile from the owner Claudia or Brandy, both super nice and helpful. A few reviews complain about service– this is a simple drive up burger bar with yummy food and very fair prices. The burgers at $ 6 would be $ 12+ in San Francisco for the same thing… Quality ingredients, friendly people. Love the crinkle cut fries too!

My wife and I have been a residents of Cloverdale for over 2 years. Picks has been one of our favorite places to get burgers. Lately, things seemed to have changed. Service has gone down hill unfortunately. Today we visited and it will be our last. 1) its because moved into Santa Rosa today 2) this was the worst visit so far. Even if we didn’t move, I would not come back after today. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, was asked if I wanted cheese??? They had no lids for sodas so transporting everything in my car was difficult with a small spill incident. I asked for ranch for the onion rings because they charge .50 cents for each one. Funny enough they also TAXYOUFORRANCH! WAT. When my order arrived, it wasn’t in a to go bag like I asked. I was then informed they didn’t charge me for ranch for whatever odd reason. I pointed out I asked for that before hand so they WOULD charge me. But they didn’t. All I had was my credit card and I was told I needed to spend $ 5 worth of ranch before they would process a credit card… WTF?! They wouldn’t budge without that dollar for two containers of ranch, so I left very displeased. The food as always was pretty good, but the onion rings this time obviously we’re sitting around for a while as the inside was cold. They didn’t seem to be the same onion rings that they normally do. Tasted like they were frozen… Over all, food is still good, but the lack of attention to detail and very poor customer service sadly my opinion is very low of this burger joint and is only worth one Star in my book. And I never leave Unilocal reviews.

Had the second burger I received been the first one then I would have given more stars. When I returned the first burger I could not get the young girl at the counter to pay any attention to me. At the request of another patron, finally someone helped me out. I will say that the cook brought out the re-make and apologized for the mix up. Both of our burgers were great. The owners should coach the counter staff to up-sell and offer fries because we would have ordered them! Soft serve cones looked great but after the counter service we didn’t want to wait in line again.

The Owner, Claudia, is very personable and fun to talk with. Very knowledgable about the Drive-In. Prices are a little high considering the ham/cheeseburgers are on the small side but a good issue of HOT fries & I ordered the small — yumm Outside seating only so go on a warm day.

It’s hard to give Pick’s a tough review, because we are always drawn to the place for those milkshakes! However, it is the single most overpriced burger joint on earth and the place is in serious disrepair with flies everywhere. The food is good, it’s convenient, but for 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 shakes — yup it was $ 30 bucks. Back in the day when 101 went through Cloverdale they saw much more traffic. I think the prices are reflective of the fact that there are no longer lines a block long. It is important to support family businesses and the food is good. I still recommend it, but it’s very expensive.

Sadly dissatisfied. This brief scant meal left bill and I parched. We really enjoy trying new burgers and I had wanted to eat at this place for years but I will not return, nor will he. $ 30 + dollars for two of us to eat 2 burgers fries and a drink

This is a great old drive-in/burger stand that has been around in the same building since the 1920’s, and has not changed very much. They have great burgers, fries, ans shakes, all prepared well. It’s also right in downtown, which is nice.

Got up close to Pick’s today: –it’s a pick up burger place using niman ranch meats. — the front of the shop rolls or folds up. –patrons can sit on stools in front. –kitchen, rest of shop inside. eats: soft serve ice cream(L, 1,79) –cold and soft, almost melted –cream taste is lacking. unnatural tastes -«joy» label on cone, cone brand or soft serve brand? drips: –quick, smiling service –would return for a dog or burger, not a soft serve.

On our way from SF to Mendocino and stopped by here for a quick lunch because it was so cute. Really wanted to love this place with its outdoor booths and benches but actually this place is pricey! $ 7 for a palm sized bacon hamburger and another $ 2.50 for about 5 onion rings. The food was definitely good but definitely expected better value for a little place in the middle of Northern California.
