I love this man. Seriously. If we weren’t both happily married, I’d go all crazy-​stalker on him, drag him to Vegas, drug him and force him to marry me. He’s THAT GOOD.
(I’m not crazy.)
Picture it. Sicily (otherwise known as Fresno), 2010.
I’m in a dentist’s chair, needed to get a small cavity filled on one of my wisdom teeth. Dude cannot find my nerve to numb my mouth, so he decides to just numb the one tooth. Said tooth will.not.get.numb. Dude starts drilling anyway, like someone told him there’s oil in my gums.
With my fingers clenched around the arms of that chair, I screech and look at him panicked, trying to tell him that — HEY! I CAN FEEL IT AND IT DOESN“T FEEL GOOD!
Dude tells me, «It’s a cavity, not cancer.». True, true, Dude. But it still flippin’ hurts.
After he finishes it, I stagger out to my car, drive home and spend the rest of my week trying to open and close my mouth without sending jolts of pain into my ear.
(This dentist died, so I’m not going to out him. Let’s just say that the Dude didn’t abide.)
…So… when Dr. Arndt told me I had a small cavity on my other wisdom tooth, I just kept flashing back to this other experience. I felt slightly more confident in his ability, but I was still giving myself an ulcer thinking about it.
I get there that morning, pretty sure that I was going to throw up on someone, but I made it into the chair without passing out. He numbed me on the first try. WHAT A RELIEF.
I’m telling you guys, I felt NOTHING. Not even that excruciating sensitivity that usually happens when the hygienist cleans out your tooth with air/​water. Not a damn thing. Amazing.
I practically skipped out of the damn office.
Best part was, I could chew after a few hours, instead of an entire week.
I’m so bringing him Christmas cookies.

I am very pleased to introduce you all to my dentist. I had some issues that he dealt with wonderfully. I never felt the needle or his work and I have to say, I’m the BIGGEST BABY in the world when it comes to my teeth. I’ve had such bad experiences with other dentists that I didn’t go for about 15 years. Dr. Arndt is a «no nonsense» guy, he tells you everything he’s about to do, and what’s amazing is after 3 visits, I look forward to sitting in his chair now! He did an amazing job on my root canal – I actually almost fell asleep in the chair. He also has the best prices I think. He’s a protoge’ of Dr. Hampson, who is also his father-​in-​law. I consider Dr. Arndt top of the line. Go ahead and make an appointment. All the staff is wonderful, I can’t say enough good things.
