Cal Skate Clovis

Given its the only place to skate in Fresno, I rate the second star. But in reality it could definitely improve. Why have a music request list if your not going to even consider looking at it? Definitely time to up your game cal skate…
I can live with the dingy interior if you can at least give me something to skate to. That played out 80s old school isn’t enough to hold it down!
And don’t forget the Disneyland prices at the snack bar! $ 2 for a $.50 Costco brand bottle? Maybe the water fountain isn’t so bad after all!
Anyway, the floor isn’t bad but could probably use a good waxing and since they’re making a killing on their markup they should be able to afford it

Four stars for the experience and the customer service. maybe three stars for the actual venue. Yes it is probably the same wall to wall carpeting from twenty five years ago and yes they should at least shampoo it a little more frequently but it was still a fun time for all. Music was more hip hop but modern and the games, although the same ones from twenty five years ago, still entertained all.
Staff was very friendly and courteous. Standard concession stand type treats with standard type pricing.
Ample parking. If you pay with cash you will receive one dollar off your admission price. Bring your own skates and save four dollars off of admission price as well.

The décor, music and atmosphere haven’t changed much since I came here as a kid, 20+ years ago. My kids are enjoying their time here now.
It’s not a shiny, sparkly, modern place but it’s good, clean fun and the teens enjoy Saturday night sessions.
The five stars is for the staff. My son’s best friend (my «adopted» son) had an anxiety attack during his first visit — too loud, too many people, and he’s not a strong skater. The staff sat with him, brought him a cool towel, checked on him repeatedly, and were just downright amazing. He’s a sweet sixteen year old, not a tot, and they still were compassionate and tender. I later saw the manager talking and laughing with patrons while doing stocking and other work — she was engaging, with a great smile, and was someone whose warmth and love of her job shows genuinely. It’s so rare to see that kind of employee, especially in a place with lots of rambunctious and loud teens. Great people!

This place is dirty. They should at least vacuum this place periodically.
They play almost the same music everytime we come here. The games that they play are the same every week.
These people need to spruce up the music and update the décor. The food and snacks are rather expensive.

The manager Teresa should not be working with children or maybe with the public at all. I’m currently here for a VBS church event and not only was she rude to people as they came in, she’s rude during the games. I can understand being overwhelmed, but then you should remove yourself so you can be calm. She’s just continually rude. I find it unfortunate that this is how she chooses to treat people who are even having to pay to watch. I was considering bringing my family here, but after today, I would rather make the drive to Tulare’s roller towne.

What a throw back! I had an awesome time when I came here for a gathering. However, the rink is in dire need for a revamp. The floors were uneven and patchy so for a beginning skater such as myself, it was a little frightening to skate. Also, the skates themselves seemed like they were used one too many times. However it was good to see that they actually sprayed the shoes with disinfectant after you return the skates. I think this place needs a new location! Some where with more traffic! Other than that, great place for friends and the songs made me think about way back when I was younger – loved it!

This is an excellent skating rink. The rink itself is smooth for easy skating. Like most rinks, the skates were very old, but at least they had new-​ish laces. The employees are very helpful. I somehow managed to cut my finger and they gave me a free band aid. They have 2 games during the skate session and my boyfriend won a free small popcorn. Just remember to bring cash, since it admission costs more when you pay with a card, and do not wear a tube top or you will be given another shirt to wear.

Not gunna lie, this place is pretty ghetto. I think I paid $ 11 to skate for a few hours on a Sunday which isn’t too expensive. You first enter the room you pay, and there’s one girl that works the front desk that is kind of a b****. She seems too cool to help customers at a skating rink, but whatever I didn’t have to deal with her for more than 3 minutes. When I first walked into where the rink was, I noticed how outdated it was. When I went to rent my rollerblades, I went to put them on and they were really wet inside. I’m thinking it’s just the disinfectant spray, but still. nasty. They were a size too big, so I went back to switch them out and they ran out of the size I needed! The skates were all sorts of busted and were definitely not comfortable (maybe it’s because they were a size too big!!) Bring quarters if you want to stash your personal belongings in one of their lockers. The music they played was pretty fun to skate to, and the rink itself felt nice. They could use a good overhaul of the place. For the price you charge and the crappy quality of the things you get, I’d say they can afford it.

Sadly, this place hasn’t been updated since I was a child. The floor does seem as though it has been resurfaced fairly recently. Looks better than I remember.
After my daughter begged and begged, I reluctantly agreed to allow her to have her party here. I was happier than I had imagined I would be. The customer service was actually quite good. I was impressed. I think they would be wise to get some new lights and bright paint on the walls. I think the drab décor keeps people away. I also think they could get more creative with doing theme nights, etc and becoming more active on social media. Most of these things I can overlook because I love to rollerskate and so does my daughter. The place is clean and the staff is nice, I’m fearful that the entire place will close if something drastic doesn’t happen to shake up their current business! It just never seems to have people anymore.

When I used to come here as a kid, it was something special. But now it’s just turned into a slum ghetto roller rink. The rental skates are disgusting now, and the rink looks incredibly worn out. Really too bad considering it was something fun to do and could keep kids out of trouble.

Sadly, this rink (which seems to be the only roller rink in the Fresno/​Clovis area) is trying to make sure there is no rink in the area. Most of their sessions are short (only 2 hours long). The afternoon session from 1 – 3 is riddled with advertisements (after every song) for the concession stand and whatever food they’re selling. They have a «glo-​stick special» song, where they talk through the whole song to tell you that glo-​sticks are only $ 1, and you have 1 minute and 45 seconds left.
The «1pm-​3pm» session is actually 1:00 — 2:50, because they want you OUT the door and the doors locked at 3pm.
If you’re 6 years old, these things may not annoy you. If you’re a parent, the constant announcement of concession stand pizza, popcorn, candy, and glo-​sticks could mean constant begging from your child, «Can I get it? Pretty please??» every 3 minutes. If you’re a young person, bring your iPod to drown out all the advertising.

Unbeleivable… we arrive at 7;55 pm on a Saturday night and are told we are to late to get in, we have just driven from the SF bay and the guy at the ticket window is very rude, how shamefull can a manager be ???

The kids had a very good time

I don’t get to wear my skates enough. Only at Halloween when I’m Ice Capades Barbie or at a Boogie Nights theme party when I inevitably dress as Roller Girl. I have a bad habit of slutty costumes. My skates are white leather boots with royal purple wheels and they’re pretty darn fly. I got them on a whim at Big 5 for $ 30. I figured they would come in handy at some point. When I turned 28 I decided that I wanted to enjoy my stunner skates at what used to be Rollertown. For the bargain price of $ 90 I had ten friends ready and willing to soar the rink, roll those large fuzzy dice, and shoot the duck. As the «birthday child» I even got a shout out by the DJ. Rollertown was a little more ghetto than I remembered, but that didn’t hinder our enjoyment of the free soda in the Dinosaur Room, or the cherry Icee I won in the 4 Corners game. At the end of our 2-​hour session we were all semi-​sweaty and in perfect condition to enjoy the chilly keg and taco wagon back at my parents’ house. I’m biased but I’d say it was a smash hit birthday.
