Clovis Hofbrau closed«temporarily» as of yesterday with no Advance notice to customers and quite possibly no warning to the people who are holding the toys for tots drive tomorrow the fifth or to the band that was supposed to play on Sunday the sixth…

Been wanting to check this place out for a while but gave them some time to iron out the kinks so I could give them a fair shot. Anyhow, I finally got the chance to go. I’ll keep it short and sweet: upon our visit there were maybe 10 people in the place which is not necessarily a good thing but whatever. Here’s where it gets ugly, THEOWNER was the drunkest person in the bar or better yet, the drunkest and most obnoxious person I’ve ever seen in a bar. Every word out of his mouth was the F word. He mentioned«F-ing someone in the ass.» Let me mention that I’m not offended easily, obviously! However, the final straw was when he said the N word. After that we closed out our tab and left immediately. Like I mentioned before, there was hardly anyone in there, so his loud mouth, offensive behavior and racial slurs were hard to ignore. I ABSOLUTELY refuse to support this business based solely on the owner’s actions and behavior. BTW, the only reason we knew he was the owner was because upon his drunken rant, he made it clear by bragging about not caring about the bar and would«Sell this f-ing bar tomorrow!»

First time eating here for lunch was a pleasant experience! I tried the roast beef, turkey, and bratwurst. Very good. I love the dress code as well!

Crazy Bernie has only one Hofbräu he goes to. Clovis Hofbräu has it all. Delicious sandwiches and ice cold beer. My personal favorite is the turkey plate or as I call it THANKSGIVINGDINNER! hats off to the brave owners of this top spot for great grub and grog. Patio out back so I can take Buster too!

I ate there when they first opened. I had a roast beef sandwich with German Potato Salad. It was delicious, and the beef was med. rare, pink through and through just like I like it. The last time I was there about a month or two ago I was looking forward to a repeat. The beef looked tough and dry, not moist and juicy… and the«German Potato Salad» looked like a vegetable SOUP, not the usual German that I make at home and LOVE. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! HEYFOLKS, fire the cook and bring back the one you had in the beginning! The only thing good there now is the hot turkey sandwich. Like many have said, I loved the Silver Dollar Hofbrau, and hoped that this would be as good, but what a disappointment! Also the prices are was too high for this area! Get your act together, or you will be out of business before your first anniversary.

Great food and relaxed atmosphere. The portions were huge. My father and I really like this place. We will be coming back again soon!

This is a mixed review. The food is good, plentiful, and fairly priced. But the service continues to be spotty after three visits. Tonight, the service was atrocious. In a smörgåsbord-type restaurant, each person should have one job, and do it well. There is such confusion/disorganization with the four people behind the counter that I ended up getting too much of one side, and no second side at all on one dinner. Most disturbing was the young girl behind the counter that seemed to be half asleep(literally eyes half closed) using her finger to wipe the edges of the macaroni salad bin to clean it off. Doubt I’ll be back.

I was less than impressed with this«hofbrau». Having grown up with Silver Dollar(RIP), my standards for«German» fair were not met by the options here. The pastrami sandwich had a generous portion of meat but no cheese and absolutely no sauce. The bread roll wasn’t rye and was dry. There weren’t even sauce options available on request. I’d have enjoyed this more with jus, mayo, a good brown mustard or something on it. We weren’t even offered sauerkraut. I originally got the«German potato salad,» not realizing it’s actually a stew, and not a very appetizing one, at that. On a positive note, the server swapped to traditional potato salad for me without complaint or charging more. I expect a hofbrau to have a plethora of sausage options and there is only one on the menu so that’s disappointing. The prices are higher than the portions warrant. The drink I ordered at the bar was appropriately strong and my dining companion enjoyed his beer. Other reviewers rave about the pickles at the bar but there was no pickle jar or pickled eggs when we visited, which was something I was looking forward to. Parking is terrible and we had to navigate a large dirt hill in my sedan. Seating wasn’t much better and it was difficult to find a place to sit and eat. The interior décor is also odd, to say the least, and nothing about it says German, hofbrau, or pub — it’s more country saloon. I might try it one more time if they make it through the first year or so, on the off chance they get a better groove and update their menu to better reflect the cuisine their name implies.

Had a very rude waitress named Paula who did not serve us often. Also watched a manager publicly berate an employee in front of the entire bar. Bad service and worse quality workers. Would not recommend going here.

This restaurant is quaint and has a great ambiance. It seems a little expensive, but they give you a lot of food. All the meats are good cuts and delicious. Even though they have sports on TV, it is still a quiet and relaxing place to have a hearty lunch. Love it!

Stopped by for dinner, never coming back. My pastrami was way too SALTY and so was my rice pilaf. The fruit salad had a strange after taste. Boyfriend got the roast beef… It was edible but really tough. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too salty like everything else. Everything was medium almost cool temperature wise except for the baked beans which were boiling hot— I ended up burning my tongue pretty badly. Not gonna upload the photo here though. The bread was cold. The calamari was a plate that was ¾ fries and ¼ calamari(too much breading, had to peel it off to find some squid) Wish it was like silver dollar, unfortunately it’s far from it.

Almost $ 15 for a sandwich, 2 sides, and a soda. Turkey was surprisingly moist. Little pricey for lunch, but the food was good.

Beers were good and cold. Loved the set up, but the food was bland at best. We had the brat which had no flavor. The cole slaw and Mac salad had no flavor either. Great neighborhood location… wish it well. We’ll try it again and hope for better results!
