Humphrey Station

Dropping my initial review down. Stopped in today with a group of 7. Place was pretty busy but not packed. We waited about an hour and a half for everyone in our party to get served and one guy never got what he ordered. They ended up giving him another table’s order they made wrong for free.
Hopefully they are just having growing pains since the re-​open and they’ll sort it out. Love this place, but they’ve got to get the kitchen humping if they’re going to make it work.

I’m not one to write bad reviews typically, but it has to be done. NEGATIVE stars. I used to absolutely love this place and went for lunch with my husband on Sunday only to discover that the ownership had changed. I will point out that our server was extremely friendly (albeit slow) and was the only positive in addition to the pretty creekside scenery. The lunch menu was basically only burgers and no longer had any of the amazing baked items (cobbler, etc) which they used to have. Based on our lunch alone I would have probably only given it a one star (only for the ambiance)…stale bread, wilted lettuce, tomato rind rather than middle slice, etc. and the fries were clearly very old frozen variety and had a purple color to them. BUT, when I started what was the beginning of the worst 30 hours of food poisoning I have ever had that evening my vote probably moved to a negative 5 stars. I would not eat here unless you are okay with the idea of IV fluids and being bed ridden for two days.
Even after all that, I will admit that if I were inclined to go for a quick beer somewhere in the hills and didn’t want to go all of the way to Shaver I might stop on their nice patio for a BOTTLED beer because of nostalgia or the nice creek I suppose.

Beautiful little gem of a place in the middle of amazing driving roads. Has indoor seating and a gorgeous outside patio and garden with a creek. Food was well done. Menu was biker joint-​like. Waitress was friendly and even brought us watermelon cause the food for our 10 people party was taking a bit long. Wonderful experience.
Yes they have a small kitchen so it’ll take a while if you have a big party but what do you expect? The place is beautiful so I didn’t mind waiting a bit. :-)

What a refreshing and pleasant surprise! I was with a group of 6 cars on a road trip when we stopped here for lunch because it was about the only decent looking place around for miles (we had been driving for a while looking for a place). They handled our inundation of 10 people pleasantly and seemingly efficiently. The patio had a very pleasant atmosphere, with a small stream trickling on one side and birds flitting about. The staff handled our orders as well as could be expected with a large crowd and a small restaurant. The food was really very good, no one had any complaints and the prices were reasonable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I hope I can visit again in the future.

The first time I went here (weekend) I went in and waited to be seated (as directed by a sign). No one talked to me for almost half an hour, although staff buzzed by to and from the kitchen. I was hungry and would have spent a decent amount on lunch. Finally left in disgust and went to Prather for some good Mexican chow.
Second visit there were three of us parking on the street nearby and riding our bicycles. We intended to have lunch after. One of our group, a nice little veterinarian who was just off her night shift, was run off by a local. He said, «We don’t like having to share our roads with you people and then you go and take up parking spaces.» Honestly he was just rude. There was not a single car in the Humphrey Station parking lot and we were out on the road shoulder. Needless to say we did not eat here — went up to Shaver Lake and had a nice lunch.
Ignoring customers and/​or running them off is no way to run a business. Maybe they will improve — I doubt they can survive just on business from the locals.

Took a drive and ended up at Humphrey’s Sation. Glad I did. The food isn’t bad at all. I had the Humphrey burger with cheese. Not the biggest burger but not bad and what really made it good was having it on the patio with some great scenery.
If this was in Fresno I would say th service was slow but up here I will say it was perfect. It was nice to sit back, relax and enjoy the view.

I work at the nearby post for American Ambulance so I’ll say that this place definitely has a good little monopoly going on this side of the mountain.
It’s an attractive establishment with an inviting atmosphere. I have yet to explore there dining options as I usually just take advantage of the general store but if I get a chance I will update this regarding the food.
So once again, breakfast, lunch, and dinner is all available at this popular biker destination. But for the traveller or road cyclist, it has an array of tasty beverages to quench the palate. The snack food selection is lacking, and is a far cry from what you’d find at a gas station… mostly chips and candy, but I think it’s the hospitality that I like the most.
Every time I need something, I’m always well taken care of. Given-​they are a tad short staffed but can you blame them? So, well it is what it is. Me? I’m happy they’ve been able to stay in business because your only other option is going to Prather or heading into town.
Oh for plastic users… $ 10.00 minimum or an extra $ 1.00 surcharge is added.

Typical Americana, comfort food done well. Great service, prompt and polite. Table settings were clean and complete. I recommend Humphrey Station to any and all.

I’m gonna be kind here because there’s no other restaurant around for many miles. You can enjoy a nice sit down meal here and be served by very nice and friendly people. They even have a full bar which is not expected. You never have to wait in a line. Food is prepared well and the bread seems freshly baked. Beers are ice cold with ice cold mugs. Burgers are excellent and the steaks are tasty.
