Excellent BBQ and the staff is so very nice. The sausage has a rich flavor, as does the brisket. I eat here as often as I can. The price is good for what you get.

This is a local institution. The servers embrace diners with southern hospitality and dishes up Texas sized portions. We ordered brisket, pork, chopped sandwich, banana pudding and baked potato with meat. Everything was on point, just the way mama makes it.

This is our second time here. My gripes are around preferences. I like a strong smoke flavor on my bbq. i had ham(excellent) brisket and sausage with coleslaw and pinto beans. My wife had ribs and sausage with Pinto beans and green beans. We could not taste any smoke on any of the meat. The ribs fell off the bone and have good flavor. It had a smoke ring but almost tasted like it was fried. At some point the ribs were placed in an oven. You can tell due to the taste. The brisket was juicy but again no smoke. It had a bark. You see the theme… sausage was good. Would call this bbq… I’m gonna have to say no. Bbq requires smoke. None the less I enjoyed the other flavors. Would I come back for the bbq? No. I would come back for the ham and sausage.

Great food and great service at this local family owned business!!! I can never decide what I like best at Brian’s, but the smoked Turkey is my favorite healthy choice.

Love the décor of the place and the fast lunch service. The barbecue is definitely respectable and rates a 3.5 to 4 most days. I have not been back in quite some time because I just can’t stand seeing my food bare-handed by servers with no gloves. It is obviously not mandated by Texas law but would go a long way in the customer service department.

I walked in and immediately noticed all the folk art, Texan memorabilia and the smell of good southern cookin. I ordered the pork ribs along with a baked potato which I might add is huge! The food was perfect, came out fast, and we had very friendly conversation with the workers. All around great place to take the family for great food and lots of conversation pieces.

I came to this area to do some diving at Mammoth Lake. I drove from San Marcos, and got excited to see this place so near my hotel, especially since my father has a competition BBQ team and we live and breath BBQ, and his name is Brian! I thought it’d be a great place to stop at and get a shirt from. The reviews I read were either that our search for the best BBQ around would end here, or that it was pretty modest and the staff was rude. I heard that the place had a strong smell, and that wasn’t of BBQ. I pulled up and agreed with them, then walked a few more steps and got a hint of oak smoke, then lost it again for something bitter. Again, not a huge deal. I walked in, and the first fellow who helped me was pretty cold and unhelpful, but that’s not a huge deal. I did notice that they were cutting the brisket in the back with one of those deli meat cutters, which concerned me, since I always think that brisket should be a nice thick slice, around ¼″, maybe a little less for a sandwich. This was not thick at all. I ordered the brisket sandwich, moist, and two ribs with their sauce and some potato salad and some cole slaw. The next lady, the drink lady, was VERY sweet to me. I ordered some sweet tea which was pretty good, but on the sweet side. Cashier cashed me out, didn’t make eye contact or speak to me at all. Again, if the food is great, I have no problem with cold employees! So, I go sit down and excitedly dig into the potato salad, which is more like mashed potatoes with a few chunks. Very buttery and smooth. Sorta a new take on potato salad. The cole slaw, though. I loved the cole slaw. It’s the sweeter kind, so if you don’t like that, I’d say to back away. The brisket was VERY dry and thin and fatty, and the sauce is a vinegary sauce, which I normally love, but this had some flavor I just can’t identify. I’d suggest getting it on the side, because it is a very specific taste. The ribs were incredibly thin. I had no meat on one, and the other was very dry and the sauce overpowered the meat, which had virtually no flavor. The brisket was the same way. I would think that if it was a little thicker than a #2 cut, it’d have packed more of a punch, but I also rarely got the smoke smell anywhere near this place. I’d pretty well finished up as an elderly fellow on the other side of the room from me spilled his drink and no employee bothered to try to help him or even acknowledge him. So, I headed out sadly disappointed in what I had very high hopes for. I didn’t finish my sandwich, polished off my cole slaw and left most of my potato salad. Generally without flavor, unless you like that specific sauce flavor they have, and pretty cold employees. Hopefully I just caught them on a bad day.

Always consistent. Good choice to use for catered events. Ribs are about as good as it gets. Pinto beans are really flavored well. Potato salad more like mashed potato salad. Chopped beef by the pound is a great value if you want to make a bunch of sandwiches yourself at home. The people that own this are first class people and run this place right. It is so good, other business places are serving it at their eating establishments.

Brian’s is a safe bet for barbeque in the Brazosport area. I give them the nod over the other place down the road because Brian’s has corn on the cob… the other place has canned corn. This is definitely more of a «lunch» place and it’s within eyesight of the plants. They do a huge lunch crowd and a minimal dinner crowd. It’s basically open in the evenings so people can grab food on the way home. The target clientele are workers in the area and they do well with that, clearly. It’s family owned and operated and the barbeque is very good. You can actually meet Brian himself and his wife during lunch on many days. The side items are pretty standard barbeque sides, which is to say«a-ok» but nothing to write home about. Their potato salad and coleslaw are both very good, though, and worth mentioning. The chopped beef sandwich — my go to item — is served on a hamburger bun. The pork ribs are great and the chicken is always very good. I’ve also had the sliced beef. You can come in here and order a plate with sides or order bulk food by the pound for take-home. Their loaded baked potatoes are excellent as well. The place is set up like a «lunch line» so you grab a tray and slide your way down as they make your order. They are generally well accommodating and have great iced tea and a barbeque bar with peppers, onions, pickles, and a wide array of hot sauces. Brian’s has been around for years and it’ll likely be around for years to come. Compared to the chains of barbeque places you find around Texas, Brian’s is definitely the real deal. I could nit-pick a lot of things about this place but the overall experience is great and it serves this area well. If you’re travelling in this area for business, it’s worth your time to stop.

Love this place. Classic Texas BBQ done right. Brisket and ribs are my favorites — very tender.

As a non-native Texan, I think this is pretty great BBQ. It could only be better if it was closer to town and if they served some cold beer.

THEBESTFOODTHEREIS! Period! I have looked far and wide all over the country for good BBQ. Brian’s does not disappoint, but what do I dream of… The giant Baked Potato covered in Pork or Brisket!!! This beast starts with a HUGE Baked potato, gets topped with Cheese, Sour cream, Butter and finally a giant mound of MEAT! My Heart and Arteries say NOOOOOOOOO!!! My taste buds say CALLFORBACKUP! At a little over 6 bucks, I cannot begin to explain the value here! If potatoes are not your thing, just ask for meat, you are going to want to order a pound or two to eat there, and about 5 or 6 more for the car ride home and maybe a little snack later. The meats have never let me down and are always Juicy with perfect Smoke. Some other places are hit and miss, but Brian’s has consistency in that they are consistently Fricking Amazing!!! This is my Favorite Restaurant on the Planet! I have only 2 complaints and they are big ones… 1. They are exactly 1,095 miles or 17 hours 5 minutes from my house (this makes for rather long weekends). 2. They don’t ship. Keep it up Brian’s and I cannot wait to see ya next time!

I don’t know, I’m starting to think the hype over Texas BBQ is being fabricated by the state tourism commission. Went and got my order of ribs, potato salad and corn to go. Place was completely empty(except for the two ladies getting their food to go, but was a Tuesday night). Nice interior and friendly service. Potato salad tasted like it came from a freezer. Decent flavor, but cold as ice. The corn was pretty tasty, but it’s pretty hard to mess up corn. Ribs alternated between very nice and moist, to jerky like texture, to complete fat. I know there’s the big debate about Texas BBQ and whether it should be dry rub or sauced. Well they are on the sauce bandwagon here. The 3 ribs were swimming in sauce, which I liked on the ribs, but when I mopped a bit up with the two pieces of white bread(traditional south BBQ, I know) it had an overwhelming vinegar taste. Overall not bad, but I’ve definitely had better in CA and IL.

Starting off my trip to Texas with some Texas BBQ! The restaurant has a very cafeteria-esque feel to it as you need to get in line to stack up your tray with lots of different meats. After meat selection comes the saucing where they baste your meat in their own tangy bbq sauce. I had the brisket and a couple of pork ribs. The brisket had some pieces that were very tender and juicy but others which were quite dry. The bbq sauce helped some here but the pork ribs were much better overall. The portions are very generous and even more surprising is the price!(The good kind of surprise) As a visitor if I’m ever back in this part of Texas I wouldn’t mind coming through this place again!

Best BBQ in town and some of the best I’ve had in TX. This is one of the first places my coworkers took me when I moved down and they made the right choice. The two meet two side plate is the way to go. I prefer the brisket, the ribs, the sausage… leave the turkey for the dieters. We cater from here for work all the time. The sauce is key, and the potatoes and beans are my favorite sides. If you are in the area it’s some great BBQ.

Brian’s brisket is hit or miss but usually pretty solid, especially if you go early in the day. His ribs on the other hand have been more consistent and I would say are the best thing he offers. My biggest issue with this place is that they grab the meat with their bare hands. Seeing my meat in the palm of another person’s bare hand before being served to me is just down right off putting. This place really needs to consider investing in latex gloves and dough scrapers.

My company has a client near Clute and one of the guys traveling with me suggested we eat there. I’ve been twice and I think the meat is decent but the sides are mediocre. The ribs are fall off the bone tender though they do have quite a few bones in them you need to lookout for. The sausage is your run of the mill sausage. The brisket was OK but I’ve yet to find a BBQ place that has brisket that is better than me or my friends can make. The sauce has a sweet and tangy taste to it. Its probably not for everyone but I like it. The side choices include green beans, pinto beans, slaw, potato salad, and corn on the cob. To me, the sides are not memorable. They have a very generic taste. At the end of the day it is one of the few places to eat in the area and it has some good points.
