Tucked into the back of the TA, it is a little hard to find from the C-store, but it is worth it. Their two soups today were vegetable beef and chicken with farfalle and vegetables. I haven’t had soups this good in a long time and they also had watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew melon on the salad bar. Their house special is enchiladas made with corn tortillas and filled with either beef or cheese, served with rice, beans and lettuce, tomato, onion«salad.» The tomatoes and lettuce were very fresh, and given their proximity to the produce farms in Mecca, I really ought not to be as surprised as I am. I would recommend the beef over the cheese as the cheese wasn’t melted at all. Which was fine given I was happy to gorge on the soup and watermelon. They took the enchiladas off our bill and gave me my two eggs(over hard) free. After 4 bowls of soup, I really didn’t have room for a huge plate of food anyway. Did I mention how good their soups are? We’ll definitely be back.

The best soup and salad bar of all the TA’s. Always fresh salad, fruit and a good selection of items. The soup is made from scratch… Delish ! The service is good and friendly.

«It isn’t home cooking if you can’t ask for seconds!» That’s this restaurant’s motto. Meaning: you get free seconds!!! WHATTHEHELL? Are there other restaurants like this? Seriously if there, are SENDME A MESSAGESTRAIGHTAWAY! After a propane stove malfunction while camping at nearby Joshua Tree my boyfriend and I were forced to spend a full twenty-four hours fasting :’( We pulled out at literally the first place where we saw food along the desert highway and ended up at Fork in the Road. We were STARVING and excited at the idea of free seconds. The food here is your basic Dennys type of fare. Crowd is 99.9% truckers. There is also a salad bar if you’re trying to do the healthy thing~ Of course, most people aren’t gonna eat that many seconds or thirds or whatever, but between two people we ordered two different breakfasts and asked for seconds on one. That’s three meals for the price of two, folks! & enough to have us both fullll with a little bit of leftovers for lunch. I’d totes go back here if for some reason I were in the area…

Sub-par food, but excellent service? Small-ish portion sizes, but free refills on entrees? Truck stop grub, paired with cheap arcade? Fork In The Road is full of contradictions, but unlike bland, boring Denny’s this place has a speck of character that made it charming in its own way. The«all you can eat menu»(aka, order an entrée, finish it, get another one for free, and then another, and another) is great for the famished backpackers we were when we passed through Coachella on our way out of Joshua Tree National Park. The side arcade with was also a fun diversion. The games were old, but mostly functional and appropriately cheap.

«Fork in the road» is a restaurant in a truck stop on Dillon Rd. between the 10 fwy and the 86 S. I have only eaten here a few times and only on Saturday mornings. I have also only ever had the breakfast buffet. The place is clean and has never been crowded when I was there. The buffet is pretty typical with scrambled eggs, potatoes, your standard breakfast meats, beans, pancakes, french toast, etc… The food is as good as any similar buffet and I have always gone away stuffed. I would recommend this place for breakfast, I can not speak for lunch or dinner as I have not eaten here at those times. It is a good stop on your way to the river, get out strech your legs and feed your face.
