A local bar and eatery, bar food was good. The fries were the highlight. Also, a nice selection of beer on tap. Lunch was quiet and we were seated immediately.

Lagerheads is by far the best and only good restaurant in Cal. The quality of the food is excellent and just about everything on the menu is good. The beer selection is huge at Lagerheads, which is also a plus. It’s a great restaurant to sit down and enjoy a meal with your family or drink a beer with your friends at the bar. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This bar/restaurant turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. Crowd is more an early 20s crowd – it’s near a college – but there were a few older folks like me watching hockey on TV. Reasonable prices, decent service. Cute barmaids. Had the wings with sweet heat sauce, which were really good. Bacon cheeseburger with onion rings was solid. Liked the 90s mix on sound system. Good place. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a casual night out, some drinks, and better than average bar food.

This was not the best salad option but honestly why would you order salad on a college restaurant/bar? A better choice was the shrimp plate with lager cheese and fries. From the patio, You can see the large barges move up the river and look for a turtle? Large shells adorn the walls suggesting a local phenomena.

Local staple. The ‘lager cheese’ is the Holy Grail of all that is cheese. The menu has a good bit of variety and they really focus on what they do best — their beer battered fries and lager cheese sauce, pizza, wings, and sandwiches. The dinners are very large portions but they are just okay to me(the pasta is good but I would rather get pasta somewhere else. Same goes for the steak) The salads are excellent and fresh. The building itself has an older world charm and there are photos on the walls of when it was a corner store. They showcase a large variety of Beer Tap handles on the wall that they use at different times during the year. Very nice beer selection and their frozen margaritas are DELICIOUS and very affordable. Flat screens in both the restaurant and bar allow you to catch a sports game while eating or hanging out with friends. Really a nice place to grab a bite, celebrate a birthday, or enjoy a night out at the bar. Especially since it is one of the only places in the local area that offers all three.

This place is exactly as I remember it when I was in college years ago. The quality is still top notch. I love this bar.

Have been eating at Lagerheads for 15 years and have never been disappointed. They have a great selection of Beers including a wide variety of craft brews and always have meal specials. Their wings are very good and the sandwich and burger choices are excellent. Service is always fast and polite although it does get busy when CalU is in.

I have been going to Lagerheads since 2004 and they never disappoint. There aren’t many actual sit down type restaurants this close to the college so when I was a student and parents or family would visit I would often take them here. I almost always get the same thing — the Buff Chick salad and Broccoli Poppers. They had this yummy Chocolate spoon cake and then didn’t have it and now they have it again. I love it and its one of those desserts that come from a supplier so I’ve had it at different restaurants in the US. The owners have always been really nice and accommodating. I have ordered catering from here before and also have been to events in their top floor banquet room.

More of a «dive» in the scope of things. Great wings and sauces. Right by the River. Very solid place to venture to on a nice day or for lunch when out and about.

Love it!!! I’ve gone to Lagerheads more times than I can remember & the food is ALWAYS spot on. My favorite is the bacon ranch wings which have tons of ranch dressing & bacon bits. I’d have to say a close 2nd would have to be the fries with Lager cheese. I’ve also been to a couple events they catered for the room above the restaurant & that food was great as well! If you want to head to the other side of the building to the bar you won’t be disappointed! The bartenders are always very friendly. I recommend this place to everyone.

There aren’t many good food places in Cal but I LOVE the food here! Their salmon salad and buffalo chicken pizza is amazing. I don’t even go to CalU anymore yet find myself going back just for this place.

Great food with a large variety from salads, sandwiches, wings, entrees, and pizza! Also, a full bar with lots of draft beer and bottle choices! The energetic and friendly staff will top off the great experience!(Don’t forget to ask for the homemade lager cheese, yumm)

I’ve been going to Lagerheads since my college days and it has changed ALOT since the first time I stepped foot in the place, but I would say it’s for the best. It’s becoming more of a family place and an after work bar. As you walk into the main door you have 2 options — left or right. If you go through the door to your right, you have entered the dining area. If you would rather watch whichever Pittsburgh team is playing and quench your thirst with a couple brews, then go left. Both sides serve food and alcohol, the dining area is just better if you have kids or want to be a bit comfortable in a booth rather than a barstool. For a small town bar they have a decent selection of bottles and drafts. The food is killer pub grub. I always treat myself to Lagerfries — french fries slathered in ‘top secret’ cheese sauce(if my tastebuds are accurate, I think they mix Yuengling and salsa into the cheese — it’s yummy). I also recommend the ranch pizza which comes with chicken and bacon on it, but of course I get it without. Other favorites are the Very Veggie Quesadilla and Portabello Salad. I’ve never had a problem with any of the food I ordered. Keep in mind this is a bar, not a 5 Michelin star establishment, on that note I give this place 4 stars. Since it is so close to a college campus, it can get pretty crowded on weekends when school is in session but in the off season and weekdays, it’s pretty chill which is more my speed. The parking lot sucks — one way in and out which is difficult to maneuver larger vehicles. There is another place to park by the train tracks with lots of space, so I advise you to walk the extra 50 steps(you’re going to need it after all the beer and munchies you’ll be consuming). The owner and his wife are always there and super nice people, they know all the regulars by name and offer a welcoming environment for all walks of life.

Lagerhead’s is the only place for grown ups to go in California, PA. Sure, there’s going to be a lot of college students and yes, there’s going to be some traditional«Yinzers» but its clean, has a brass rail to rest your feet on, and you won’t have to deal with as many stupid kids because the amateurs are going for 1 dollar drafts of cheap crap beer on Main Street. They also have pretty good grub. The outdoor patio in the rear is a good place to actually have a conversation with friends and get away from the masses while drinking a cocktail.

What the F, dude!!! This place was THE place to be on Thursday nights… Karaōke, $ 1 drafts, and $ 2 jello shots. Granted, this WAS back in my college years… anywhere from 5 – 8 years ago, but I do not know what happened to this place. I visited my mom and dad in Pennsylvania in April 2008. My birthday is on the 18th, so I got together with about 15 of my college buds and went bar hopping. I saved Lager Head’s for last because, well, it’s freaking LAGERHEAD’S and I had some insane times there. Talk about disappointment. No more karaōke. They gutted the entire place out and the left side is all tables(I’m assuming they still serve the best bar food in Southwestern, Pennslvania… who knows?).and the right side where the karaōke USEDTOBE is nothing but a huge bar too big for the place and a bunch of people all squished together because the BAR takes up too much room. It took about 20 minutes just to get the bar tender’s attention to get a drink, which was watered down and overpriced. Needless to say, we left within 30 minutes of arriving and I vowed never to go back. I’m sad because Lager Head’s holds so many great drunkin’ make-out with stranger memories for me. I wished I would not have went in April 2008… then my memories would have some staying power.
